Why Assassin's Creed: Syndicate already looks better than Unity

Dealspwn: With Assassin's Creed: Syndicate finally officially revealed after months of speculation and leaks, it's good to see what this year's entry in Ubisoft's series is shaping up like. Can it repair the damage done by last year's Unity though? Take a look at what we think were the most important elements to take away from today's official reveal.

Haha, was just thinking that. You'd be a mug to pre-order but I liked a lot of what I saw there. Ubi have a lot to prove and it already looks better. Less buggy despite the glitches too.

EDIT: reminded me of Gangs Of New York at one point

This need to be more like Back Flag and less like Unity. This franchise really need to do something new.

I'm not hating but that trailer left me underwhelmed.

It just looks to me like a palette-swap of Unity - even the Londoners have the same accent as the Parisians in Unity! I know the Animus explanation for why that is but it just means that Syndicate characters don't 'sound' different from the last game.

And the rock track for a game with a period setting doesn't suit it. I love AC IV Black Flag which was fresh and different but I will wait and see about this.

Reminded me a lot of Gangs of New York too. Great movie. I actually see a lot of promise in this game (I won't be pre ordering still) and yes it does seem to me Ubisoft do have something to prove after Unity's faults... It was nice in their reveal that they were humble enough to acknowledge it's problems. Hopefully Syndicate will be a great game but I will be waiting till launch before buying it, sorry Ubisoft.

Yes, I agree it does need to do something new. That's what made Black Flag so great it wasn't taking itself to seriously and at it's core it was a pirate game which was awesome. I do see something similar here though with Syndicate, it does appear they are trying to be different. If Unity was our AC1 of this generation perhaps Syndicate maybe our AC2 which would be great.

The best pirate game ever created

I was just about to say that it reminded me of Gangs of New York as well.

I will never ever preorder a Ubisoft game again.

I will never buy Ubisoft games on my PC (despite 290x and 1600p) because of uPlay.

I won't buy any DLC for any Ubisoft game because it is almost always a very bad value proposition at best or just a horrible ripoff at worst.

All that said, I will always keep my eyes on Assassins Creed and Far Cry because they can be fun, especially when they can be had for $20-$30 from Amazon and the you can resell it for almost that much so you can basically play it for free.

ITS A FREAKING RESKIN the only new thing is carriage driving.

RedDeadLB1259d ago

And the fistfighting and combat tempo. The rest of it is pretty much Unity right down to the freaking animations.

And I hate the grappling hook thingy. They should have just made parkour faster.

Psychotica1259d ago

Ubisoft should prove they learned their lesson by providing a demo of a small area so we could all see how it performs on our own systems.

Wait until game is released. Then talk about it. Also, guess ive been playing these games long enough that I start to see assets being used again and again. Like the smoke stacks.

Simco8761259d ago

What happens when they catch up to the modern timeline? I mean...will we finally see the end of the IP?

Rob_Ko1259d ago

They will eventually go into the future, just like CoD

Simco8761259d ago

Doesn't really work with accessing memories and what not. Guess they are going to leave that part of the storyline behind....if they go to the future.
