Gran Turismo 7 Team Picks Up Forza's Audio Lead to Improve Sound

As a veteran Gran Turismo fan, my only complaint about the series is that its audio has never been as true to life as its physics. Many would agree. While it may have taken more than three generations to address, Gran Turismo 7 could be the first to tackle this weak spot of the series in a big way.

According to the LinkedIn profile of former Forza Audio Lead Mike Caviezel, he left Microsoft Studios to work for Polyphony Digital last month. He now serves as Senior Audio Lead for Polyphony Digital which is currently working on Gran Turismo 7.

A current generation Gran Turismo sounds delicious right now.

TheCommentator1359d ago (Edited 1359d ago )

But Drive Club enthusiasts say Forza's sound is unrealistic. How ironic.

WeAreLegion1359d ago (Edited 1359d ago )

Those guys would be crazy. Both Evolution and Turn 10/Playground went to great lengths to give those games incredible sound.

TheCommentator1359d ago

I agree, but try telling them that as they troll DC vs Forza sound comparison topics.

WeAreLegion1359d ago (Edited 1359d ago )

I don't, man. I just let trolls be trolls. I'm getting too old to care. I just want to talk about video games with you people.

And get bubbles. How the frick do I get bubbles?

pivotplease1359d ago

It's true. People can't even appreciate the strong points of a game that's not on their system.

And I don't know how the bubbles are getting divvied out, but people keep popping mine. Some of the people with a lot of bubbles add decent conversation, some are entirely neutral on every subject and add next to nothing, and some probably handed themselves a pack of hubba bubba via second and third accounts.

I just +1 bubbled you and you went strait up to 4 bubbles. Your welcome :P

WeAreLegion1359d ago

Aww... Guys! That is so freaking awesome of you! I'm going to bubble all of you up every day for as long as I can! I really appreciate that!

Drive Club entusiasts? That is a broad term and a bit salty at that. Do you see anyone on this current board that stated that very idea? Or is this one of those, "Well that's what THEY say" situations as if a few people speak for a massive DC audience.

TheCommentator1359d ago (Edited 1359d ago )

Calling someone an enthusiast is mean? Would fanboy have been more suitable? If it offends you that I grouped you with them, why aren't you defending your position in any of those threads? In here? You realize that by saying nothing you inevitably make them your voice?

Comments #6, 6.1, 6.2, 14, all say DC sounds the best. They are the same types of people who trash the audio quality of Forza in every sound comparison posted at N4G when it is obvious that Forza is closer to real life as it is mixed. Polyphony clearly chose the best in the industry to make the audio, hence the irony. I guess cars don't really sound like they're driving in tunnels all the time after all. ;b

morganfell1359d ago

Where did I say it was mean? I am saying your remark calling people DC enthusiasts in a general undocumented manner as if all DC supporters attacked the sound in Forza is steeped in salt over this entire affair. I am not the first person to reference salt...which is obvious if one reads through the remarks in the thread.

I am saying that people should provide references instead of "they say" which is a broad generalization and precisely what you are doing. Such comments are little more than making up something until the moment you provide proof that the DC supporters in general have belittled the sound in Forza. You may find a few but is that really "DC Enthusiasts"? No, no it isn't.

I am a DC entusiast and have not commented on the sound in Forza. Where is your remark excluding me and those like me that have yet to mention the sound in Forza? We are after all the majority of DC supporters. Such a fact makes your remark misleading at best.

To have any relevance in such claims you must find where they trashed a game on which Mike Caviezel worked in sound design and provide a link to the remarks. Then locate where the same individuals now praise having this person on board. Otherwise your remarks are, well, you are living in a high salinity environment.
