When a video game is released in a market that is already flooded with similar games it begs the question, “What is this game doing that the others aren’t?” These days a lot of indie games pride themselves on having a unique mechanic or gimmick, or give a fresh take on an existing genre. In the case of The Weaponographist, you’re not going to find anything overtly new or innovative, but rather a combination of smaller mechanics working in tandem to form a solid but familiar experience.
MunkiMatt says "Doug McGrave has a problem. As the legendary demon hunter passed through the forests of Hellside, he was approached by a lady beseeching him for his help. Her village had been overrun by demonic presences, and she requires him to remove these foul beasts. Upon discovering that there would be no pay involved Doug refuses, only to discover that the elderly lady is, in fact, a witch who places a spell upon him, removing his abilities and making him unable to leave the vicinity."
Is it a dungeon crawler, a roguelike, a brawler? Why not all of them?
The Weaponographist is a rogue-like, action game similar in playstyle to the first Legend of Zelda game, or more recently, the Binding of Isaac or A Wizard's Lizard.
