Dead Island 2 delayed until 2016

Deep Silver and Yager Development have announced that Dead Island 2 has been delayed until 2016. It was scheduled to be released in "Spring 2015" at one point but as the season arrived without a firm release date something appeared to be wrong.

Now the industry knows what: the game wasn't up to the standards the developers and publisher set for themselves, at least that's according to a statement from the Dead Island 2 team, who say: "We have been looking at the game long and hard, and we have decided we didn't reach that goal we set out to achieve quite yet."

Probably for the better since we already got Dying Light this year.

Genuine-User3375d ago

And by what we saw last E3, it didn't really look that good. Should be at least as good, if not better than Dying Light come next year.

Dying Light was the spiritual successor to Dead Island/Riptide anyway!

Spinal3375d ago

I don't think it's going to be anything near as good as Dying light from the gameplay vids so far. Dead island 2 just looks like another Dead rising 3. I just don't see it doing well.

Dying light on the other hand has set a new bar for zombie games. I expect a lot from Left 4 dead 3 now.

Even though they made dying light, isn't that IP part of WB Games?

itsjustexuma3375d ago (Edited 3375d ago )

No, theyre owned by Deep Silver

Tzuno3375d ago

Because the game was a turd in the current state, i mean no singleplayer campaign just mindless zombie slash with daily missions brought by developer daily.

KryptoniteTail3375d ago

Good, delays make better games.

Sayburr3375d ago

Yep, did wonders for Watch Dog and the launch of Drive Club...

Rimeskeem3375d ago

On the contrary Halo MCC and Unity should have been delayed

gangsta_red3375d ago

It really does seem that way. I hope 2016 is where we start seeing these developers hit their stride with a steady stream of games.

Dead Island 2 has surpassed 3 million copies sold and 7 million players since launch last year. It's a amazing.

I'm happy I got this game, the story is on the weak side but the gameplay, the semi-open world and the DLC's are great. Got way more hours out of this than I ever thought I would and playing with friends is stupid fun.
