Deck13 Enters [email protected], Four Titles Coming To XB1

German studio Deck13 announced that they are now an official Xbox publisher and four titles are coming to Xbox One.

Admin note: Being an [email protected] publisher doesn't mean they only develop/publish Xbox One games. Just means they will now be able to self-publish for the Xbox One.

The story is too old to be commented.
DxTrixterz1358d ago

There goes Lords of the Fallen 2 for PS4.

Transistor1358d ago (Edited 1358d ago )

This is a good pick up for Microsoft and it's OK for LOTF2 to be an Xbox exclusive. Most of Microsoft's deals are reactionary and it's pretty obvious they want something similar to Bloodborne for Xbox.

Before people go on a disagree spree

Forza/Gran Turismo
Tomb Raider/Uncharted
Project Spark/LBP
Bloodborne/Deck 13

Dudebro901358d ago (Edited 1358d ago )

Reactionary? Give me a break.

Both Sony and Microsoft, like many other companies in many different markets, create products that borrow from each other all the time.

Take your agenda elsewhere.

Brotard1358d ago

not exactly sure what this means, I'm getting that they will be releasing games exclusively for xbox, but are they now a subsidiary of microsoft? or just have a partnershit? lol partnershit! great typo

OpieWinston1358d ago

Phil Spencer has made multiple comments saying he wants to make Xboxs lineup more like Sonys, having more diversity and he likes learning from his competition by playing their games and really loving what he sees.

It's not reactionary, this deal doesn't just happen instantly, obviously with the Platinum Games Scalebound and Deck 13 means they're building partnerships that give them titles that increase diversity in the lineup.

Docknoss1358d ago

LOTF was an amazing game and now with MS's backing. LOTF2 and other new exclusives will be developed and marketed better.

Transistor1358d ago (Edited 1358d ago )

The Xbox One in a current form is a great example, as it was a reaction to the PS4's success. And yes, all companies do it to a degree, that's given.

Dudebro901358d ago

@ transistor

Right because Sony doesn't ever borrow ideas.

Playstation move/ Wii mote
Paying for online/ Xbox live
Playstation all stars / smash brothers
Mario kart/ lbp karting.

Project spark isn't anything like LBP by the way...

Rookie_Monster1358d ago

Transistor, you and your crusade to downplay anything xbox related is well documented during your brief 2 weeks new account here but this is just silly about the reaction theory.

First of all, all companies does this. Why do you think Sony locked up SFV as a PS4 console exclusive? Of course Killer Instinct is the primary reason because Sony just don't have a great fighter in their arsenal.

Why do you think they copy Smash brothers and Mario Kart with their PS All Star and LBP Kart game?

Why do you think they added trophies?

LOL, they even called and claimed Killzone and Driveclub as Halo and Forza killer respectively in their advertising so if that is not reactionary, I don't know what is?

But of course those never crosses your mind. SMH

Ryan7411358d ago

So much jelly in your comment I brought ice cream😂. Joking aside, this is another great move by Microsoft and shows their continuing commitment to gaming.

ginsunuva1358d ago

That's what a teenager would think. Publishers don't work like that.

Transistor1358d ago (Edited 1358d ago )

Someone above me just said publishers aren't reactionary....and someone else just said Phil Spencer wants Microsoft's line up to have more diversity like Sony and gets agreed with.

It's hard to take this all seriously. It just seems like people being over sensitive cause they love Xbox.

Rookie_Monster1358d ago (Edited 1358d ago )

And you are still dodging and avoiding answering the question of SFV, PS All Star, LBP Kart, Move controller, Trophies, Killzone. Aren't all those Sony products also a reactionary of other successful products as well?

If Sony is doing so good and don't need any help or copy anyone like you say, why they felt the need to secured SFV, a genre in which Sony don't have a great IP in and even felt the need to pay advertisement and marketing deal in Destiny and now Battlefront 3, both FPS in two consecutive year in which there are two Halo games available.

Your love for the PS brand and insecurity have totally blinded you to the point of you needing to comment on every pro MS news articles with such negative Popaganda every time. If you don't have anything good and informative to add to the article, please don't talk at all.

marlinfan101358d ago (Edited 1358d ago )

So much downplaying lol. If they made a deal with a studio that makes fps games I'm sure you'd have a slick comment about how it's just another fps game for xbox.

MS is trying to build it's lineup, it's more than just LOTF. The article stated 4 games are coming to xbox now because of the deal.

Of course you'd come up with a way to compare it to your precious sony though, I never saw that coming.

boing11358d ago

Lotf ip isn't theirs. Don't get your hopes up.

TheUndertaker851358d ago

Holy crap. This whole thing has become reactionary and not based on fact.

Nowhere in the article does it state MS bought out Deck 13
Nowhere in the article does it state that MS is publishing the titles and even notes a different publisher for their known title
Nowhere in the article does it state that any sort of exclusivity is happening

All the article is stating is that the Xbox One is getting four games from the developer.

SilentNegotiator1358d ago

People, Deck13 doesn't own Lords of the Fallen. (click "Legal")
"Lords of the Fallen @ 2013 CI GAMES S.A. All Rights Reserved. Developed by Deck 13 Interactive GmBH and CI GAMES S.A. Published by CI GAMES S.A. Lords of the Fallen is a trademark of CI GAMES S.A."

1358d ago
mkis0071358d ago

Pardon my ignorance, but where do they say exclusive? I'm reading this as "now we can make xbox one games."

Transistor1358d ago

Wow, it has nothing to do with LOTF. It's for a few indie titles.

ThanatosDMC1358d ago

LOTF2 will be multiplat anyway as well as most Xbone games once Win10 drops.

Not to mention that LOTF couldnt even hold a candle against Dark Souls let alone Bloodborne.

buttcheeks1358d ago

None of the xbox games you listed compare in quality Except for tomb raider . ............. .. .......................??????? ??????????????????????????????l ol

Chevalier1358d ago (Edited 1358d ago )

"First of all, all companies does this. Why do you think Sony locked up SFV as a PS4 console exclusive? Of course Killer Instinct is the primary reason because Sony just don't have a great fighter in their arsenal. "

Wtf?! Why would Sony even need their own fighter? Even without Street Fighter the is already Guilty Gear Xrd, Jump All stars plus and Jojo Eyes of Heaven exclusively on Sony systems.

Then add SF Ultra, SF V, Blazblue Chronophantasma, MK X, Injustice, Teopen 7, DBZ Xenoverse and Naruto 4. Why the heck would Sony need and exclusive fighter? That's just laughable.

MRMagoo1231358d ago (Edited 1358d ago )

A lot of xbone fans calling out transistor and getting well said bubbles then it turns out nothing like you guys all thought it was and once again have your feet in your mouths, stop jumping the gun and read an article for a change ......just wow.

I have a feeling someone makes these titles knowing full well you guys will make yourselves look stupid because it happens far too often to be coincidence imo.

But at least that means you will get some new indies. So that's a plus.

_-EDMIX-_1358d ago (Edited 1358d ago )

I can't stop laughing!

"Forza/Gran Turismo
Tomb Raider/Uncharted
Project Spark/LBP
Bloodborne/Deck 13"

yea but...I mean Sony owns those IPs though, MS doesn't own half of those games lol.

Mind you, its clear that Forza is made based on GT existing but that is moot as GT is one of the first big Sim racers to ever release.

Tomb Raider, very true as MS stated that themselves.

Spark, could very much be their LBP clone lol, and they have no answer for a title like Bloodborne.

marlinfan101357d ago

Where'd you see me say anything about exclusives? I just said 4 games are coming to xbox because of this which will help diversify it's lineup. Seems like you're too busy trying to call out people to see what I was actually saying. Good to see you in yet another xbox article LOL

Major_Glitch1357d ago

@team xbox FACEPALM! Looks like a certain fan base is so desperate for good news, they're overreacting to vaguely worded article titles. Thank you all for not reading the article before commenting. You not only reconfirmed my biases, but you all have provided me with much joy and laughter this morning.

OT: So Xbox is getting four indie titles. That's....great.

OB1Biker1358d ago

They already said there's no LOTF2 and working on a new IP but I'm sad about it. Good devs

turdburgler10801358d ago

Just buy an Xbox one and you won't be sad anymore. That was easy.

MRMagoo1231358d ago

They probably aren't exclusives so I wouldn't worry about it.

CBaoth1358d ago

Honestly, I'm a little confused by the article in general. Do they even own the Lords of the Fallen IP or did former publisher CI Games retain it? I know Deck13 announced LotF sold a million copies last year and revealed a sequel in December. But then they were mysteriously sued for breach of contract by CI. Did the lawsuit get resolved? Can anyone shed some light on this?

And isn't Deck13 just a developer and not a publisher? I'm assuming they meant MS signed on as the worldwide publisher for the 4 titles. Which means we should expect timed exclusivity for Xbox1 and a PC version later.

Anyway, it's good news for MS and Deck13. It enhances MS' portfolio and gives Deck some financial stability. According to IGN, two of the unannounced titles are Strain (maybe Del Toro gets involved with it now) and a hack N slasher RPG, Tiger & Chicken. If they own the Lords IP then a follow-up will assurdedly be one of the remaining games.

TheUndertaker851358d ago

"And isn't Deck13 just a developer and not a publisher? I'm assuming they meant MS signed on as the worldwide publisher for the 4 titles. Which means we should expect timed exclusivity for Xbox1 and a PC version later."

No, as the article states.

"a few days ago Deck13 had confirmed to be working on a “core” title that will be published by Focus Home Interactive and is scheduled to be announced at E3, this is probably one of those four."

Alexious1358d ago

They don't own Lords of the Fallen, they never did. They're doing other games for Xbox One (and possibly other platforms).

Alexious1358d ago

Not really, the Lords of the Fallen IP belongs to CI Games.

It looks like Deck13 is now going to be developer and publisher in some cases

AngelicIceDiamond1358d ago (Edited 1358d ago )

Would be great if Lords Of The Fallen 2 and so on are are full blown AAA's exclusive to X1 that would be nice.

Or a new AAA Ip.

SilentNegotiator1358d ago (Edited 1358d ago )

You wish. They don't even own the IP.

AngelicIceDiamond1358d ago

I know that. I'm saying those games would be AAA's budgets if MS funded them or A AAA new Ip maybe. Not make it there own MS Ip. My comment was confusing actually.

MrBeatdown1358d ago (Edited 1358d ago )

This has nothing to do with exclusivity to Microsoft.

This company can now publish their games on Xbox. They publish their games. Not Microsoft.

boing11358d ago

Lotf is not their property.

MrSwankSinatra1358d ago

I don't know where most of you people in this comment section went to school, but it clearly states that they're an official "publisher" for xbox not a developer. No where in this press release did deck 13 say they were bought by MS.

Kayant1358d ago

Sigh these websites and their titles. This was literally titled specifically for hits on here. All this means is that they are a part of [email protected] and are publishing these four games -Thanks to @Banjo-Kazooie

Sky Arena from Hammer Labs

Super Snow Fight from Patrick God

Hovercubes from Gametology

Shift Happens from Klonk Games

MasterCornholio1358d ago

Thanks for the clarification.

micx1358d ago

MS got a sweet deal there. They could probably try running Lord of the Fallen as Xbox's Dark Souls (Xbox only).
I'm sure there'll be a lot of players who will disapprove this.

DanielGearSolid1358d ago

From what i observed, Souls Fans didnt really care for Lords of the Fallen

micx1358d ago (Edited 1358d ago )

I've known a few who played it as a filler.

Imp0ssibl31358d ago

That's too bad, I like Lords of the Fallen better as it's slightly less frustrating.

breakpad1358d ago (Edited 1358d ago )

@ Daniel ...that s correct SouLs/BB fans didnt care much for LotF ... it was a well made effort and with better art direction it could create some fan base...though good luck with reaching Dem Souls/BB levels of quality and polishing

You couldnt be more wrong. Im a HUGE Souls fan and i LOVED Lords of the Fallen. It was a great game with imo better combat than the Souls series (Bloodborne Excluded).

BitbyDeath1358d ago

A lot of people seem confused, MS didn't purchase Deck13. Deck13 are just now allowed to self publish games on Xbox.

ChronoJoe1358d ago (Edited 1358d ago )

I'm a big time Souls player and I remember annoying a member of Deck13's PR team when I forcibly killed all the enemies within their Eurogamer demo with endless backstab loops.

The combat is very flawed and above is but one example of this. It's the games lack of refinement in its gameplay department that leaves far short of what From Software have achieved with the Souls series.

Still, it's the highest rated game game Deck13 have ever produced. That's not saying too much however, as it resides between a 67 and 73 metacritic score across platforms.

Either way, this deal presumably means their games still launch on all platforms, but are subject to the parity clause of XBOX ONE self publishing. Which states that their XBOX ONE releases have to be in line with the timing of the releases of the same game, on other platforms.

So yay, a wider audience now get to experience Deck13's mediocre assortment of games. Brilliant, just what we've all been waiting for.

GameNameFame1358d ago

Has nothing to do with exclusivity...

LOL. Sorry to break the delusion.

Gamer19821358d ago

Exactly there not the same game not even near except there both tough they are very differnt games.

Ninver1358d ago

Except it won't sell knowing how Xbox gamers don't buy RPGs as much as shooters.

TedCruzsTaint1358d ago

Here's the thing though . . .
RPG's do actually sell well on the Xbox all the same.

Must be magic.

Yetter1358d ago

I don't know about that, Mass Effect and KOTR had a great deal of success on xbox

beans1358d ago (Edited 1358d ago )

Nothing wrong with shooters at all and many Xbox gamers love RPGs, myself included. I've been playing since D&D almost 40 years ago and have never stopped playing RPG style games. I think your view towards Xbox gamers is completely twisted by hate and ignorance. We are real gamers who love games and simply prefer Xbox.

ot: Good move by MS to diversify!

gangsta_red1358d ago (Edited 1358d ago )

I love how people always come to say, "____ don't sell well on Xbox."

As if that should imply that MS shouldn't even try and give their users other genres to choose from.

AngelicIceDiamond1358d ago (Edited 1358d ago )

@Ninver Yep, Fall Out, Elderscrolls, Mass Effect and even their own Fable saw 0 success on Xbox, yep none at all.

Just because companies push allot of shooters on that console doesn't mean Xbox fans don't play anything else.

Rookie_Monster1358d ago

You do know Fable, Mass Effect, Fallout 3, Witcher II, KOTOR, Jade Empire, are all great games and sold well on the xbox brand right? I think you are mixing RPG with jRPG like Final Fantasy as they are totally different in gameplay mechanic and in culture. Western RPGs are a great genre and many xbox owners enjoyed them as seen by Skyrim sold the most copies on Xbox 360.

r2oB1358d ago

Just because something doesn't sell well doesn't mean it shouldn't be made. Microsoft is the publisher of one of my favorite RPGs, Lost Odyssey. It probably didn't sell as well as they liked, but it was a great game nonetheless. I wish they would make a sequel.

Chevalier1358d ago

Talk about delusional. Deck13 were hired to work on Lord of the Fallen, they don't own the IP.

_-EDMIX-_1358d ago (Edited 1358d ago )

Oh...oh boy. Sooo none of you actually read the whole thing huh? This MS didn't buy them, they never said anything about those titles ONLY being on XONE and they don't own Lords Of The Fallen....

I mean..why don't you see on any of the PS4 articles when a PC title comes over as someone stating "Sweet deal, PS ONLY" lol, I mean its really clear that those indies coming over to console are not exclusive and its clear when one of em is bought or the ip is bought etc.

This very much isn't the case and Its very clear that many are rushing to judgement even before actually fully reading what its about.

Its just saying those 4 games are coming to XONE.........thats it.

also......much embarrassing for those that are so happy for such a standard announcement, assuming something was bought, owned, coming exclusively to etc. Every other day their is some PC game coming to PS4. Might be HUGE NEWS to some XONE fans, to PS4 fans.....just another day lol.

Best post thus far.

"Add four more exclusives to Xbox One's killer line-up for E3" and "does this mean they are still independent or a first party studio?"- Gangster Red.

lolz, dat rushed post. Soooo I see no one is going to actually read the article, just assume.
