As Silent Hills falls off into the abyss and the company drops Kojima, Konami look to be falling upon strange times. These times are even stranger and actually a tad scary when you look at the financial state the company is in.
Konami isn't in financial trouble. They, as a company, don't even need the gaming industry.
They make more money each year on pachinko stuff and mobile than they do on console games. They won't be going bankrupt any time soon. It seems more like they're trying to get rid of the console section as it's a riskier area. With how much the games can cost these days they turn a big profit on a game, then they're taking a huge hit.
i cant wait to play pachinko stuff
Hhmm being low on cash might some explain things but not why they removed Kojima`s name off the box art of MGS5, jeez his name is a brand seal of quality, he worked on it they paid him for it so why remove it ???
because he stepped on someones shoes. Its pretty obvious he pissed someone off up there they're not low on money, they just want to make money fast.
Konami isn't going bankrupt. Like you said, Kojima`s name is a brand seal of quality. To take is his off the box art of MGS5 make it seems like a very serious issue. This is my opinion.... It seem as though Konami have strict guidelines as far as their budgeting. So, Its possible Kojima went over the budget line by doing side projects that weren't part of the SH budget. Konami were pissed about it. That's waht I think happened between them both. I could be wrong.
Hope Konami's doing alright after all :(
Make it a permanent PS4 exclusive, Sony will pay up.
Worst idea I've heard today.
Well if it's the only way to save it then why not? It would just be another Bayonetta 2 case.
The game was only mentioned for ps4 they never mentioned any other platforms so it does make sense
More like someone hire these guys and make a new horror series.
You know, Sony has the Siren Franchise, its been dormant since Blood Curse, they could hire them to reboot that. I just Think that Kojima should just open up his own studio after this mess is over.
Mrs. Brant, fetch me a violin!
No they really aren't, they make bank from health club related activities.
Well, if that is truly the case, then please let SONY buy the right to make this game happen.
Doesnt make sense actually . Seems rather straightforward to me : - Del Toro , an already way too busy director , joins a Silent Hill project because of Kojima . ANd with Reedus involved - Kojima is allegedly but mostly certainly fired - Konami issues statement about still doing the game , alluding even without Kojima Del Toro doesnt care without Kojima , and is already busy and late on tons of stuff , so move on
They said the series isn't dead And that they will work on silent Hill series, notice no s at the end. This game is canned, konami probably won't make one for a long time, or it'll be mobile arcade games Also I don't think it has much to do with del tor being busy at all. Bus men don't feel heartbroken about a project they couldn't devote time imo, it had to do with no more Kojima like you aaid
Except del Toro is that busy , he's been known to cancel many projects , including his own game , and got a lot on his plate . I'm not saying he wouldnt make time for it , but the motivation is gone for again a busy man . I seriously doubt he'd care to be involved with Kojima out of the picture . They probably tried to pitch him some way , and it didnt take . And Konami's statement was vague on purpose . As they still have no detailed official comment on the Kojima situation and wouldnt certainly confirm it that way . "No one cares" to know if the serie is alive without the project , but everyone wanted to know the status of the Del Toro/Kojima fronted SH project .
It was a joint project. I think Del Toro was on this like industrial adhesive. All we can do is wait and see what happens. Either way, with IGA gone and now Kojima, along with a few other notables, there really isn't much interest in Konami from me, any longer. (can't believe I just typed that..)
They are to release phantom pain, and had silent Hills with many big names attached, and they decided to let go their most important individual. That's not fiscal responsibility, that's idiocy.
Yu-Gi-Oh Card Still Make lot of money.
Yep. Definitely had nothing to do with the exile of Kojima. Definitely.
This is actually kind of a bummer. As an old school gamer I remember playing many games on the original NES that were put out under the Konami/ultra brand. Original metal gear, contra, castlevania and one of my personal favorites skate or die. I hate seeing these veteran video game companies go down one by one. Up up down down left right left right B A select start!
Konami is slowly becoming one of the worst videogame company like EA, Ubi and Acti.
Absolutely not, kojima and silent hills were the only trump they got. So why on the earth they would give them up!
But Konami isn't in financial trouble.
