Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Lets You Play as a Female Lead

"At the Black Ops III reveal event we were given the opportunity to participate in a roundtable interview with Mark Lamia, Jason Blundell, and Dan Bunting from Treyarch. During the course of this interview, the subject of character customization and identity in the main campaign was brought up, specifically to how your individual character would retain their identity in the four player co-op." - PSLS

you won't see women in combat for several obvious reasons, so why do they just say, "let's make it happen in a game!"...

Wedge191394d ago

What do you mean you won't see women in combat? Like in real life? One: Yes, there are definitely women in combat in real life. Two: Yup, it's a game, which is a fantastical world full of augemented tech and neural interfaces and they can do what they want with their fictional story, despite what someone may erroneously believe about gender roles in the real world.

FarEastOrient1394d ago

TheZone obviously doesn't work in the military as that comment hasn't been realistic for several decades.

Army_of_Darkness1394d ago

Next year for the new COD, we'll be able to play as a gay soldier.

LackTrue4K1394d ago

How about any gay leads? More and more games are supporting it. Most new games have to have something "gay" about it.

TricksterArrow1394d ago (Edited 1394d ago )

There are actually a lot of women in combat. And even if there weren't, the game has the creative license to do it based solely on it if it so wanted.

To the above poster, there are actually a lot of gay men and women in combat. Ever heard about the "don't ask, don't tell" policy? I mean, if it were rare, why even make a policy around it?

Some people have such a narrow vision of the world that it blows my mind sometimes.

InTheZoneAC1394d ago

that policy doesn't exist anymore...

Please grace us with these "obvious reasons"

He's ignoring the 2.26% of fallen soldiers that are women. That's what's most shameful about his comment.

new engine confirmed? because we know the engine was limiting the ability to play as a different gender before.... /sarcasm

lockedongamer11394d ago

It doesn't matter to me. Male, female, I don't care as long as the character is well written.

Xavior_Reigns1394d ago

Cool, hopefully the story from her POV is kickass and not some propaganda shoved down our throats.

Wedge191394d ago

The actual article has more from the interview about a narrative perspective.

Xavior_Reigns1394d ago

Yeah I read it but one can never be certain how it'll turn it despite what they say. I do hate how they make all the recording, rigging, etc seem like a big deal. I mean their publisher has millions and don't they now have a three year cycle between developers?

Ogygian1394d ago

More likely to be "shootass"; this is CoD after all :p
