Prior to the release of Bravely Default: For the Sequel (simply Bravely Default in the West), Square Enix trademarked Bravely Second and Bravely Third. Now that the second title of the series will release in Japan soon, producer Tomoya Asano and Shinji Takahashi discussed the franchise in this week’s issue of Famitsu magazine.
A message was posted on the official Bravely Default account on X (as spotted by user Stealth), to celebrate the third anniversary of the latest game in the series, Bravely Default 2.
The message, written by producer Tomoya Asano, suggests that a new announcement related to the series will be coming later in 2024.
That would be great. I doubt the Switch successor will come this year, probably Spring of '25 (bc of rumors). But that would line up if they made an announcement on Bravely Default III in the Fall. Maybe a cross-platform title?
Yeah it was originally planned for this year but it seems to have been moved to 2025. I wonder when they will announce it though. Anyway I still need to play Bravely II (do already own it).
@Nyxus You know, I still only ever played the demo of Bravely Default II, and loved it. It was just one of those things where I was playing so many other things at the time it came out. Next time I see it on sale I'll pick it up. I'm hardcore on the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters at the moment. I'm really loving them, particularly bc it's the first time that the classics have included actual orchestrated music.
I'm really hoping the Switch successor is backwards compatible, because I have quite a backlog for the system, including several RPGs like Bravely II, Octopath Traveler I and II and Fire Emblem Engage.
Nice. I really enjoyed Bravely Default 2. Surprised they didn't port 1 and Bravely Second at some point.
I'm surprised that didn't happen either, seems like an obvious choice, but then again, I hear Bravely Default 2 didn't do very well.

Bravely Default II developers Tomoya Asano and Masashi Takahashi spoke more about the RPG in a previous issue of Famitsu. The two hinted at possible online functionality, addressed the chances of another demo with save data transfer, and more.
I very much look forward to this game. Should be getting an update soon enough on its release date.
Really want nintendo to spend some of the billions they accrue in revenue and add an intuitive sort of achievement system. Only pros with no cons to this
