Concepts Teaser - XO

Square Enix:
Do you know what makes a good game? We’re pretty sure you do, so make your opinion count – and help independent developers at the same time. Take a look through the projects published here, and let us know if you’d back a game through crowdfunding or not by voting. Even better, help to shape that game idea by leaving your feedback in the comments section. Each game’s campaign ends after 28 days, and if the response is strong, we may lend our support as well when it lands on Indiegogo or Kickstarter.

In XO you command a ragtag fleet of starships against an unbeatable enemy. You'll be evacuating refugees, scrounging for resources, overcoming political treachery, and assembling your flock from one jump point to the next. Your goal is to lead what's left of humanity out of reach from the unknown threat that pursues.

Two Years On, the Status of the Square Enix Collective

Dan Miller writes: "Have you heard of the Square Enix Collective? If you've got an interest in crowdfunded videogames there's a good chance you're at least aware of it, but if you're reading this article it's likely you're a bit fuzzy on the details - and you wouldn't be alone. The curated platform set up by Square Enix to help showcase and support crowdfunded titles has recently celebrated its second anniversary since launching in January 2014 but doesn't currently have the highest profile, which is odd considering the strong reputation of Square Enix."

Successful Kickstarter Videogame Campaigns and Analysis for August 2015

Marcus Estrada writes: "Hello and welcome to our August Kickstarter campaign analysis! The past few months have been absolutely wild in the world of crowdfunding thanks to no shortage of massive campaigns. For the first time in a long while it seems that this month was mostly free of any outrageous projects (no Shenmue 3 or Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night here!). For some, this may be a bit of a disappointment as it takes out some of the mainstream attention, but others may prefer these calmer months. Whatever the case, even free of these sorts of campaigns, we still saw a great batch of games make their way through during August."

XO Surpasses Kickstarter Goal

“I was hanging out in a bar called 'The Grizzled Wizard' on a Friday night rallying our backers on Twitter and Facebook. I think I may have made a bit of a scene when I got that e-mail from Kickstarter...” said Corey Warning of Jumpdrive Studios.

Love the clear Battlestar inspiration. Reckon it'll definitely need that boss fight and sub-mission stretch goal to add some variety and be dynamic.
