I'd happily buy a new model but I would really want it to have L2 & R2 buttons. PS4 remote works great on a technical level but where I stumble is having to learn new button layouts for games that use all the controls. So Assassin's Creed IV L2 & R2 on PS4 become L & R on Vita. And L1 & R1 become (if I remember correctly) the touchpad. Very confusing. So it would be so sweet to go from PS4 to Vita and everything is the same.

Sorry mates. That's just a trademark of the basic design of the PS Vita 2000. It's not a new PS Vita. At the same time they trademarked the basic DualShock 3 design.

It clearly says "position trademark" for the button layout. Maybe hard to understand due to google translate and lack of gaming journalism research as usual, but nevertheless.

Why they did that was beyond me. Even sloppier than the handling of the Wiimote and that Motion Plus accessory. I guess it wouldn't be the first time though. The N64 expansion slot for example and the tiny Gamecube memory cards (Animal Crossing ate a whole card). All these things trying to prevent me from gaming.

blaming Nintendo for games being exclusive to n3ds isnt wise. When it give devs the ability to use more power, better engines and bigger games. Whether or they use it is up to them

Nintendo didn't confirm that games will be made exclusively for it. They said if devs chose to utilize it then it will be exclusive.

Even worse to me is the exclusion of a charger with the 3DS XL. For those that are trading their old 3DS towards the new one they have to trade in the charger as well, and then buy a new charger separately.

This isn't a surprise, PSP had a 3000 model and for us not to get one. Well Vita would have to be doing really bad (PSP Go bad).

I hope we get the new OLED screen, because I pass on getting the LCD one because the picture looked faded compared to the 1000 model. Plus speakers moved, my fingers cover them.

superb hardware for it's time and yet it sells very poorly

which is a shame... seriously, if it would sell better we'd have more Uncharted Golden Abyss quality handheld games coming out on the system.

or MGS Peace Walker 2 type of sequels
or FF: Dissidia 3
or Shin Megami Tensei games ported

or just about any good games from PSP having a potential sequel on the Vita.

PSP had the similar problems when it began but it proceeded to actually get damn good games along the way

Yeah...if you do the research the PSP had far more success than the Vita for primarily two reasons: GTA and Monster Hunter. There were other factors like GoW and Square games and whatnot but those two franchises were the top sellers and really put the system on the map. Of course Nintendo swooped up MH with its Wii cash flow and Rockstar mysteriously vanished from the mobile scene.

It's really a shame because the Vita is the best handheld gaming system we've seen. Although PSP had the vastly superior OS for sure.

Your not factoring that it was the first PS portable, that at the time, many people got it just as a media device and many, many other reasons.

GTA didn't just do HUGE numbers on PSP....

PS Vita may not be selling well JUST like the Wii U may not be selling well, those days are over and the folks that got a PSP may not even be gaming any longer. Just like the folks that got the Wii.

Rockstar didn't make PSP just sell 80 million units...I'm sorry but what GTA game on PSP even did half of that?

Vita is a great handheld and has lots of great games for it, just a list of RPGs always getting announced for it, it will do fine. Maybe not PSP numbers, but it will be alright.

An improved Vita although confusion is justified since it's the 3000 and PSP 3 would be the next system. I'm wondering if this will be a Japan exclusive model or if it will be a megaton at E3 and Sony will actually try to resurrect the system avec Gravity Rush 2 and other games.

I'd rather get more buttons than oled....the oled killed the battery. It was definitely beautiful but having both a slim and fat Vita i'd take the extra battery life a in some cases less saturated colors over the oled....although persona 4 looks much more interesting on Oled

I don't see a future in Vitas. I think the future for handhelds is obviously devices that run full Windows and (Universal) Windows Apps; however, that NVIDIA is currently focusing X1 for use with a daemonic OS is going to sLOW that progress DOWN=4OWN some as it segments the market with daemonic OS and app devilopment... the same is true about Vita devilopment though, in that case, the segmentation (that's bad for consumers) is even more obvious IF future Vitas only run Sony platform specific software.

The future should NOT be about having to buy multiple devices to run the licensed software of each software provider (as caused by agendas such as Sony's, such as forcing other devices if you want a music service other than Spotify, etc.)... that's BACKWARDS of the direction Microsoft has been working towards for years with their "One" vision. BACKWARDS is bad, such as CONSTANTLY spinning the BACKWARDS idea that AA batteries are "stone age" (as I've been told) rather than explaining to everyone that "we should obsolete having low life" integrated\NON-UPGRADEABLE batteries that force constant daily ugly Medusa wiring of dongles on faceplates.

I think most everyone will prefer handhelds with Intel processing plus NVIDIA GPUs running Windows until later when AMD catches up with "mobile envelops" that overcome their "sLOW POSTage"... fLAMER heat production means an increasing number of "turn offs", such as from a lack of "backUP power". Cool is all about reducing the "dies" that is helped excellently with increased LOGIC FANS, especially when more speed for problem solving is preferred.

I love that "Intel" and "AMD=AM4" improves; however, that NVIDIA wants to focus on daemonic OS support troubles me, and I similarly don't like ARM processors (that NVIDIA is mating with and that are used in Vitas) because they're mainly used for daemonic OSes. fLAMER ARMS, such as the Vita uses, are bad similar to FireARMS... see how it fits that Fire\fLAMER ARMS are for daemonic agendas?

On "a side" note, even though ARMnARM with "Ms" is now more likely with (Universal) Windows Apps marrying between architectures, I may prefer Microsoft not make any more devices that run on ARM, unless ARMs that aren't fLAMER are released... not sure if X1 qualifies due to daemonic OS as standard and no word yet (?) on "WINdoze" support (most people misinterpret "WINdoze", and those that do probably try staying ignor(e)ant of the facts that daemonic OSes are generally all now performing slower, have less functionality, worse support, and with more "insecurity issues" than "Ms" and "WINdoze"). The WINdoze idea is how I expect that Microsoft (eventually) WINs against devices such as Android, iOS, OS X, PS4, and Vita, etc.

It is a shame that people "oppose" how much better the vision of "Ms" is, that's especially true as "Ms" crosses the Threshold (the codename for Windows 10) that puts all the non-profit making significant other guys out with their "ill legitimate" children that want to stick with the dad who likes the wrong kind of sWORDS (multiple puns... there is an ideogram pun also).

I think Sony should get out of the handheld market and focus on making their games as (Universal) Windows Apps. Maybe Sony should make the best next-gen "handheld with Ms" for Windows 10... SONy and Ms can make an excellent COMBINATION though lousy opposition, since "Ms" is obviously going to spank SONy "at the end". Sony should not try forcing their software on their own hardware (DOWN=4OWN) any more than they should try forcing their movies only on their own hardware or licensed hardware.
