Managing Cloud Saves on PS4 is a Hassle

There are a lot of great things about being in the PlayStation ecosystem, but cloud saves aren’t one of them. For your $50 per year for a PlayStation Plus subscription, you get a lot of value, but not a lot of space to store your saves — just one gigabyte. A full gigabyte might sound like a lot for saves, but as time goes on and every save for every game you’ve ever had gets uploaded, that gigabyte runs out quickly.

It really is a pain. I filled mine up in just a few months and now it's like Sophie's Choice deciding which save I need to delete from it every time I get a new game.

Not when Alien Isolation takes up like 200MB. If you play a lot of AAA games, it doesn't take many to fill it up.

Is there a way for me to delete some of my PS3 cloud saves from my PC or PS4…Or are the PS4 cloud saves a different GB?

Most game saves are like 0mb-20mb though right?
I don't check, only ever had to go in there a couple times before cause Skyrim kept corrupting.

Most games are around 50mb in size that means around 20 can be uploaded with 1 gb. My kids play minecraft and each world on there takes over 150mb so I have to keep deleting the worlds when they auto sync. I filled up 1gb on ps3 when games were around 20mb now they are a minimum of 50mb its filling up way too fast we need at least 50gb. STEAM gives unlimited and all it requires you is to buy 1 game from its store.. Just 1... Sony give you 1gb and you only get that and keep it if you keep paying a yearly fee its horrible.

Just try saving stuff like Dragon Age Inquisition saves , and tell if it doesnt eat a good chunk of place . Orh those driveclub stuff like Ghosts , or replays save from fighting games and a few titles

Some save files are stupidly big.

Madden is like 200mb, WKC was like 20mb per save.

Each dragon age save was like 30mb on ps4

Alien Isolation save system is all over the place. You don't need to save any other file except your recent save and profile data.

I've had PS+ since it was a thing, and I have a lot of games between PS3 and PS4. Never had a problem with space. I don't get how people are out of storage. I wonder if there's a technical issue.

Its not just saves it uploads its all save data so if you have driveclub it uploads your ghost and replay data and those things are into the 100mb mark and then theres minecraft maps which are around 100mb each. It can easily fill up in 1 or two nights if you have the right games.

It's obviously a matter of which games you are playing it you got no issues whatsoever between 2 or 3 consoles .

I'm not really complaining , i just truly manage it and pick and choose what's essential to store online , the rest and a few copies on usb .

But i wouldnt mind getting more space

DriveClub ALONE takes up over 300 MB. I just looked at this yesterday, actually. Between four games, I have over 800 MB in saved data. Then there are other games that take up 15 MB. It's considerably frustrating.

Each Playstation device gets a GB of cloud storage, so 3GB total.

Anything that tries to upload to the cloud (like my game saves) errors or on my PS4. Pretty weak if you ask me.

Delete the save in the cloud. Upload manually once.

I thought it was just me with this problem. I deleted a ton of saves but I am still getting messages that saves are unable to upload. I don't like the way Sony does it. I was confused at first because I kept getting error messages rather than a message stating cloud storage is full.

I don't think it's that difficult, just a couple clicks under the settings menu. It would be nice if they added it to the options menu on game tiles though similar to how it is on the PS3.

Could always go back to the old way of just losing your data if you change the hard drive?! Think I'll stick to the cloud saving when needed ie Rarely it's just an added bonus either clear up what your putting in your cloud storage or don't put so much in it, surely there's only 3-5 games saves people would actually want to take with them I.e a GTA file, FIFA and a call of duty etc, just delete what your not using when finished and if your just not sure put it back to your console storage and upload it again in the future when you may actually need it rather than clogging up the space they give you. Other than that it just gets saved to my console. Such a hard life ey people.

To be honest Ive never even looked at my cloud saves. I dont know whats on there or how much space I have. Do they overwrite if you run out, are all my older games going to be gone now?

No it does not overwrite your old saves. Once u run out of space it gives you an error on upload message

My LBP3 profile takes up over 600MB. I'll repeat that. My LBP3 cloud backup on PS4 is over 600MB which is over HALF of my cloud storage for only ONE game...and I haven't even created anything yet!

Pure clown shoes. Just tonight I had to delete some stuff and I've only had my PS4 a year. They need to flip the proverbial switch on this.

The process of managing PS+ cloud saves doesn't bother me much, what does though is the mere 1GB capacity for game saves. That's just absurd. The Xbox One gives you unlimited cloud storage for game saves. I've exceeded the 1GB limit on my PS4 and now none of my newer saves are backed up. :( If my PS4 breaks, I'm screwed, unless I back them up beforehand by my own means. But I shouldn't have to.
