Micro-Transactions have just been added to the store on Mortal Kombat X with 4 different options. One of these options is unlocking the whole contents of the Krypt... and it's not cheap at all.

I hate micro transaction but I don't see what's the big deal with this one. Now if they were selling new exclusive fatalities then that's a different story.

If a few casuals play offline with friends and want to do the fatalities there is a shortcut for them. If you're worried about them using it on you online it really doesn't matter, because they beat you anyway. They're not paying to win and you won't even know who's using it.

Chances are the people who buy this will probably not be a threat online lol. Sucks for them not wanting to learn the old fashion way but who cares.

Something as simple as easy fatalities should just be a simple option you can select in a menu if you are so inclined. The idea of charging for something like that is fundamentally wrong.

dlc becomes a problem if they purposely handicap the player in order to grind their way and the dlc is there to make it much easier. this scenario happens a lot on mobile games. it also seems to be the formula destiny took which frustrated the gamers.

if they want to sell dlc to unlock things if the opportunity is still there without having to pay that's fine even though i don't see the point in it because i play games to experience it myself. i also believe all games should be able to turn down the difficulty so that players don't get too frustrated and not complete the game. it has to be an option so as to not impact players who want the full difficulty.

dlc is still going through the growing pains and development costs are often the cause of it to try and recoup that. i have a hard time believing this game was an expensive project to make however.

Why? It's stuff that's already in the game. And it doesn't effect gameplay so since its fatalities. At that point they already beat you so they didn't have an edge. So again why should it GTFO if it's outlet cosmetic/shortcut? Are they forcing you to buy it.

Dlc scams especially day 1, probably on disk dlc scams are one of the negative aspects of modern gaming that gained traction last gen. We bend, they enter.

That sub zero skin I can understand people being upset over. It should an unlock in the game. However the rest is just shortcuts. Some people just want everything unlocked right off the rip so it works for them. If they want to feed game developers money in that way so they can continue to support this awesome game then by all means buy all the shortcuts you want. They won't be getting my money for these shortcuts but to each their own. This isn't one of those normal micro transactions we are all used to. This is completely optional and with time and patience you can unlock all this stuff without spending a dime or waiting for a timer to go off.

I missed the day where you have to complete some sort of requirements to unlock new features, items, and secrets. It give you an incentive to replay the game again. But with micro-transactions and DLC, we can kiss those days good bye.

I'm playing it right now. I'm like 40 minutes into the story and so far the game is OK. The characters feel slow and heavy. The combat is a bit slow imo. I really miss the fast combat of the classic MK games.

Indefensible. Even if it is something you can unlock normally they'll definitely make it harder than it should be to unlick it without paying so that you WILL pay.

There should be no pay option. I bought Tales of Hearts R and was disgusted by the pay-for-fake-money concept. I either have to grind or pay. In GTA you just simply used a cheat for in-game cash. I never played the newer ones, do you have to pay for cash now?! That's what it would be like. Its a few kb download telling the game to give you cash, like a payed cheat. Imagine Konami Code costing $5 bucks in Contra!

I always thought that paying for skins was a life time low for the industry, but paying to make the fatalities easy is just so unreasonable. I've read here about this being useful for the casuals, even then those casual people can easily learn a simple button combination or does this easy fatality crap make it, so that you press the touch pad and Bam!!! Fatality. I still can't comprehend this, i understand paying to unlock everything from the get go and even a simple skin, but making Fatalities easier. SMH!!!

They do this crap because it sells. Maybe not to us, but to enough apathetic gamers which makes it a lucrative practice. It's sad but unfortunately here to stay. You can only hope that some publishers take a stand against it (i.e. CD Projekt).

We'll see if it's the case of "greedy developer," or greedy publisher when Batman and Witcher release. If Witcher even offers any type of micro-transactions CD:PR will have to eat a lot of crow (since they've painted this kind of DLC option as "bad")

It's crazy how gaming has evolved. We're essentially asked to pay for cheat codes. I remember pressing specific button prompts to unlock Darth Maul, Officer Dick, etc in Tony Hawk games. Guaranteed that would be content we'd have to pay for in today's games.

These unlocks are for VERY lazy people or for tournament consoles, simple as that. Yes, in the past it would have been a simple button code to unlock everything, but this is hardly "Evolve" levels of criminal DLC.

this game has just turned into evolve for me. I was fine with the character packs, but paying $20 to unlock the entire krypt is ridiculous especially since they patched the game so coins would be harder to get. The skins are a bit expensive as well.
Although, I don't think I have a right to complain since I bought BF: Premium two years in a row. I also bought watchdogs dlc. I may need help.

This is clearly aimed at lazy players and for tourneys, where there's no time to unlock everything, so it's easier to just pay $15 for every skin and character to be available. For any normal console owner, playing through the story mode and a couple of towers will unlock the all of the krypt (and with it, the easy fatalities and alts).

Blue Steel Sub Zero is a DLC skin who's funds go into the ESL tournament prize pool, so please, do your research.

The prize pool is fixed, Blue Steel Sub Zero skin sales add on to it. In any case, I am not defending these terrible DLC practices, but I don't think these are as bad as they are painted up to be;
The game comes with tons of unlockables and ultimately, the only "buy requirement" is the Season Pass (a sad sad practice which has become all too common), but at least it's of unfinished characters (Yes, the models are done, the moves and balancing and such are clearly not).

Easy fatalities is what's stirring up all the discussion, but I can't help but see those as a terrible joke (and yes, at the expense of less knowledgeable players). I'm weird when it comes to NRS, since Injustice was a game, like MK9, which could actually have had MORE DLC but they just stopped cold turkey. I wanted Robo Smoke and MK3 costumes in MK9 just as I wanted Darkseid and Static along with classic or civilian costumes in Injustice.

Selling "easy fatalities" which do not affect the game is, to me, a lesser evil than capcom's attempt at gem selling in SFxT, but I can understand why everyone is pissed off here, I just hope it doesn't detract from what is otherwise a great fighting game (except on PC, that stuff needs to be fixed ASAP)

next thing you know, they charge you for moves that can be unlocked by playing the game. wanna throw a spear with scorpion or freeze with sub-zero, that'll be 5 bucks or you have to win 10 matches in a row on extremely dificult only using low punch and no block.

With all day one DLC, season passes, micro-transactions and, to me at least, lackluster roster there's no way I'm buying it now.

I hate it as much as anybody, but microtransactions are here to stay. Right now, with piracy on the rise, they're what's keeping the gaming industry going. I do think they should give the main game away for free as a demo of sorts and let people go from there. A $60 game is difficult for some people to buy, but a lot of them can afford $2 or $3 for a new character.

I don't really think this one is that bad, yeah a bit weird, but if someone wants to have an easier time doing fatalities, more power to ya then. But I don't see it being worth it and I will not be purchasing any of these myself.
