Not only is Bloodborne the game of the month, it's the game of the year.

Geobros1750d ago

We have 8 months till end of the year for seeing other games too.

tinynuggins1750d ago

Would you have thought bloodborne was going to be your game of the year 8 months before you played it? I think he means let's be fair and wait for the games to drop (some of which might not be announced yet) before jumping the gun. :)

StormLegend1750d ago (Edited 1750d ago )

I doubt any game this year, can get as many 9's and 10's like Bloodborne.
Not MGS5, Batman, Halo, AC Victory, or anything else. But we'll see. =)

HammadTheBeast1750d ago

Witcher 3 has a solid chance.

Jalva1750d ago (Edited 1750d ago )

@Travis3708

You doubt games like MGSV or The Witcher 3 will get 9's and 10's? You obviously know nothing about those games then otherwise you just wouldn't say such a thing...

MGSV will get 10's by default just because it's MGS lol

Yukonsbud1750d ago

I'll bet on the Elder Scrolls. I'm most excited for it than any other game.

XBLSkull1750d ago

Halo 5 will take GotY. I switched over to Dark Souls II so I could play on Xbox, but I have no doubt that the skills I pick up in that will greatly benefit me when I get back to Bloodborne in the future, but I'm prioritizing Dark Souls II, MKX, Witcher 3, Batman. Probably getting back to Bloodborne in July/August. Again though I think the journey through Dark Souls is really going to help me out in Bloodborne, I was getting my butt kicked.

DigitalRaptor1750d ago

@ XBLSkull

Just to be realistic here. I know you're a big Xbox fan, but how can Halo 5 realistically win GOTY? A Halo game hasn't taken GOTY award since probably 2007 and Halo 3.

Bloodborne is this year's first true GOTY contender and it's a strong 93/100 on Meta. Arkham City was a 96/100 on Meta, and The Witcher II scored higher (88/100) than any Halo game made by 343i. Both sequels, look better than their predecessors, which were already easy contenders for their respective years of release back then. And do I really need to bring up MGSV? I don't think Halo 5 or any other game has a chance against all these games going head-to-head.

Wh15ky1750d ago

@digitalraptor

He must mean it will be HIS goty, nobodies that delusional, surely!

The Witcher 3 might have something to say about that..

ArchangelMike1750d ago

Yeah I love Bloodborne, as much as the next guy, but for my hands down my game of the year pick is The Witcher 3.

I could be wrong, but I think that game has more going on than Batman Arkham Knight and Metal Gear Solid 5 (the only other true GOTY contenders this year).

The Witcher 3 is going to be a truly next-gen adventure when it drops.

Jalva1750d ago (Edited 1750d ago )

Geobros is right, can't say I'm surprised N4G gave him disagrees for saying that though as Bloodborne is a Sony exclusive, rationality doesn't apply to fanboy logic.

Bloodborne is a great game, I haven't got anything against it, but to call it GOTY in April is just stupid, especially in a year like this one with games like The Witcher 3, Arkham Knight and MGSV still to come... it may very well win GOTY but it's not going to be easy.

OB1Biker1749d ago

I agree with the second part and The Witcher 3 is going to be huge for many reasons IMO

Not sure who s this N4G biased person people keep talking about. Seems to me everyone can have their words and agree or disagree how they wish just like you and me. I do agree that on the internet the gaming community seems to be appalling but its up to all of us to improve it and also trying to have better content/articles

Ben Dover1750d ago

You don't actually buy that do you? It's a good game but to assume it stands a chance against Bloodborne, MGS5 or The Witcher 3 is nothing more but an illusion.

StrayaKNT1750d ago

@Ben Dover
I can't say anything about Witcher, batman and halo 5 But I do know that so far ori is the game of the generation to everyone who has played it. Nothing against bloodborne I have finished it twice and sold it but I honestly think ori was so much better.

1750d ago
slappy5081750d ago

I've played them both and I personally feel bloodborne is better than Ori. I will say though, that Ori is the best platformer I have played, ever and def the best xb1 game so far but there's just something about bloodborne ...
Opinions I guess.

Benjammin251750d ago

Ori: 89 average on metacritic
Bloodborne: 93 average on metacritic

'Ori is game of the generation'

...okay.

Anyways Ori doesn't count as it's an indie and according to Xbox fanboys indies aren't proper games...oh and it's also on PC anyway so it's not even a true exclusive. Pathetic.

MasterCornholio1750d ago (Edited 1750d ago )

Bloodborne is better than Ori plus its a AAA game. AAA games are always held to higher standards due to the large budgets involved making them.

I'd say that the possible GOTY contenders are Bloodborne, Batman Arkham Knight, Halo 5 and The Witcher 3.

P.S Ori is still a great game but Bloodborne has a higher metacritic than it therefore it's better.

remixx1161750d ago

Aussie

"Game of the gen"

And to what standards are we judging by??

If we're going by review scores than the game of the gen so far is the same game that stole last gen and that's the last of us re.

If we're going by new IP then that would be bloodborne.

If we're going by platform exclusive that would be super Mario 3d world or bloodborne.

Oh no my bad I didn't realize you shared a hive mind with the other people that played ori and you all came to a general consensus that ori is game of the gen, so you speak for the ori mind communion I see.....

Honestly dude if ori is your best answer then you and douglord must be the same person. Then again its all your opinion and no bias whatsoever right???

guyman1750d ago

The suck up strikes again. Bloodborne is a better game than ori and if they had to go head to head for goty. I dont see ori standing a chance against bloodborne which offers far more content and replay value. I doubt you've even playee bloodborne let alone finished it twice.

slappy5081750d ago

Ori and the blind fanboy

ninsigma1750d ago

Ori is an amazing game. It was my game of the generation too but Bloodborne has taken over, it is a better game. I'm quite certain if it came down to those two, bb would take goty.

Ilovetheps51750d ago

We still have a long year to go. I just finished platinuming the game and personally don't believe it will be the game of the year if some of the games later this year turn out as good as they look.

Metallox1750d ago

How can you determine such a thing as "game of the year"?

slappy5081750d ago

I think that's a fair statement, it's up to the other games to knock Bloodborne off the top, they still have to show us what they got.

UKmilitia1750d ago (Edited 1750d ago )

it was my first game of this series and my opinion is this.

first 30 mins ot hour it was horrible, looked amazing but was too hard,i didnt understand the shortcuts and lamps.

then after an hour it quickly became one of the best games i ever played. i think the difficulty at start put alot of gamers off.

but im so glad i held on and kept going, because once it clicks its epic and the way the entire game flows into one.
my game of year so far

MasterCornholio1750d ago

So far I would say yes. But there's still the rest of the year to consider but I honesty don't see many games competing with it.

joab7771750d ago

It's definitely my favorite game in the past 18 months or so. It probably won't be GotY but it's a masterpiece. It's just too niche for many. In a yr which will see TW3 (which may also be too niche), Batman, MGS5, Battlefront, and possibly a Bethesda behemoth, it is a long shot.

That said, From games are some of my fav of all time, b/c there's simply nothing like them.

Provolone241750d ago

It could very well get game of the year, but one must keep in mind incoming titles like The Witcher 3, Metal Gear Solid 5, No Man's Sky, etc.

Germany71750d ago

Great month with a lot of games, Bloodborne it's my favorite too, i will not be surprised if it's indeed the game of the year, but great games are coming as well.

TheDivine1750d ago

Bloodbourne
Xenoblade Chronicles X
Persona 5
MGS Phantom Pain

One of these will be my GOTY. Fire Emblem or SMT x Fire Emblem if they release this year also. I really REALLY love Bloodbourne though. Feels like I'm back playing Demons Souls at launch again with so much new stuff to discover. Its fresh and the faster combat is amazing. Might be my game of the gen looking back five years from now. We will see.

captainexplosion1750d ago

I tried Bloodborne and it's not my kind of game and Ori is overrated imo. I would go with OlliOlli 2 personally. I also liked Borderlands Handsome Jack Collection.
