Amazing Project CARS vs Real Life Comparison: McLaren P1 At Laguna Seca

Here is a video that compares Project CARS to real life footage. We follow the amazing McLaren P1 around the Mazda Laguna Seca Raceway.

What makes this video a bit special is the fact that the author has matched the viewpoints closely with the real-life footage when it cycles through different camera angles.

Wow Project CARS is looking amazing! I'm assuming of course that the gameplay footage is using that old trick of screen capturing from a high end PC running the game in Ultra as opposed to consoles.

My only fear for Project CARS is that by the time it's released the new Xbox and PS consoles will be on the market...

TeamVVV1750d ago

Haha yeah that 'ole Pc on ultra trick. The wait has been somewhat frustrating but being a gamer these days means that delays are to be expected sadly.

Maddens Raiders1750d ago

This looks great and truth be told, it all just makes me giddy with anticipation to think how incredible PD's GT7 will be.

Given the behind the scenes competitions amongst the car racing devs to have the "best" sim and knock off the "king", it gives the gamers the best time to enjoy car sims in history and I know that PC is making the PD guys take notice!

Here's to a hearty battle gents! I can't wait until these monster titles are released for proper tarmac ripping.

There's a flurry of project cars videos today. In the past they did this right before announcing yet another delay. We'll see, you could be right :(

u4one1749d ago

Let's hope not. I'm really amped for pcars and each delay just punches my heart in the face. Let's hope we get some good wheel support too.

Stapleface1750d ago

It's not a trick, it just makes sense to show the best looking platform. But it's early. I can't tell if you were being serious or satirical. lol

The_Sage1750d ago

Right, but... The rig they're running on would cost ya 10 grand. I wish I had one.

Stapleface1750d ago (Edited 1750d ago )

Ahh, but that means it's still doable. :) Just not by your average gamer.

Edit: what are the specs? I didn't see them on the page or in the video.

Now do real life...I mean Drive Club....

sorane1749d ago (Edited 1749d ago )

Nothing realistic at all about Driveclub. Cars take no damage, no customization, wonky handling, horrible cheating rubberbanding ai, vasaline smear all over the screen, low res textures, crap IQ all around, some of the worst physics I've seen in a recent racer, switching out car models among other things for those fake photomode shots, etc, etc. How about we just leave that poorly rated abysmal arcade racer out of this. I'm sure even EVO would appreciate it since they probably hate being reminded why half there staff had to be fired.

u4one1749d ago

Pcars uses real tracks and real physics with a huge car roster and the cars can be tuned and modified. DC gives you pretend tracks with arcade physics and no tuning. Even if dc looks good, it's still dumbed down compared to sim racers. :)

MK24ever1749d ago

@sorane Boy, you need help. DRIVECLUB is the best looking racing game ever made, it's not even a subject for discussion. "switching out car models among other things for those fake photomode shots" Ahahahahaha, do yourself a favour, instead of criticizing a game you have obviously NOT played, go do that and prepare to eat all the crow you can handle.

sorane1748d ago (Edited 1748d ago )

MK24ever Kid, you need help.

One of countless vids, images, gifs I can show you of DC swapping out lower poly models to higher poly ones in photomode. I like how you try to tell me how I've never played it(I have and it sucks) when it's obviously you that has never played it.

"DRIVECLUB is the best looking racing game ever made, it's not even a subject for discussion."

Wrong again.

Discussions open :) Never seen DC look that good. Don't bother coming back at me with those fake photomode shots. What you see here is all real time. No model swapping needed or any other added efects.

Drive Club looks waaay better than project cars

Personally I think all games are embellished with bullshots, using borrowed footage from beefed up PC's and such to raise the hype level of potential customers. As they get closer to release developers incrementally lower the settings of said games inconspicuously so as not to raise suspicion that the titles are less than what has been previously shown.

This is why I think so many have claimed downgrades of graphical fidelity in most games that have released thus far. I think it is a lot harder to fool people with graphics than frame rates.

Although I'm looking forward to Project Cars, as well as a eventual GT 7 release I need to see and play the games for myself, where I know without a shadow of a doubt no trickery is involved.

Perjoss1749d ago

Not all companies use bullshot tactics, some are actually pretty honest when showing off games that are in production, Rockstar and Blizzard spring to mind.

AndrewLB1749d ago

The vast majority of Project Cars videos are made by people like myself who invested in the game's development. Only about a half-dozen trailers on youtube came from the devs themselves.

Perjoss1749d ago

Better than real life. Confirmed.

hindey191749d ago (Edited 1749d ago )

Most of the videos that get 'released' are from gamers, not the developers. PC settings vary, but you can easily search to see what it will look like on a lower-end PC or on a console. No tricks, just what the uploader has for a PC.

Edit: In this particular video, the specs are:

Motherboard: MSI Z87-G45 Gaming
Prozessor: Intel I7 4770k
RAM: 16GB-Kit Kingston HyperX blu 1600Mhz
Grafikkarte: GeForce GTX 770 2GB
Lüfter: Alpenföhn Himalaya
Netzteil: be quiet! Pure Power L8 CM 530W
Gehäuse: FRACTAL DESIGN Define R4 Black Pearl
Lenkrad: Logitech G27
