Just call him Link, that’s what everyone calls him: Deadly Premonition theme on ocarina

ZU: I find it difficult to get through a day without whistling or humming a track from Deadly Premonition. If you’re unfamiliar with the game, then it’s the weirdest game you’ve never played. A Twin Peaks-inspired hybrid of survival horror and open world crime thriller, it’s among the most critically polarising games in existence. You will either love it or hate it, depending on who you are. If you’re the kind of person who takes joy in the awful cutscenes of the CD-i Zelda games, for example, then you may find a lot of entertainment here. Poor visuals, weird animations, goofy dialogue and the simply insane characters and storyline combine into something beautiful. Personally, I’m in the camp that hails it as a twisted, hilarious masterpiece.

But anyway, about that music. The soundtrack is a very memorable component of the game — partly because it’s great, and partly because the game hilariously plays songs too loud and ill-suited to what’s actually happening on-screen. Many will agree that “Life is Beautiful” is the stand-out track: an infectious whistling ditty that won’t escape from your head.

YouTube user GamerBlue53 decided to pay tribute to the theme by having Link perform it on the ocarina.

This might be one of the greatest things I've ever heard.

There's something about this time of year that makes me want to go back and play DP again (even though I've already platinumed it). Is it the rainy spring weather? Or that it's close to anniversary of when it was released (on PS3)? Maybe.

And now I have that tune stuck in my head. Looks like I'll be playing through this again soon to get my DP fix, right Zach?

"Do you feel it, Zach? My coffee warned me about it."

Best video game line ever.

"Sounds like the Sinners Sandwich. Self inflicted punnishment to atone for past sins."

Might be the best line in a video game ever!
