The Crew: Can You Spot The Differences Between The PS4 & Xbox One Versions

Here is an interesting comparison video between the Playstation 4 and Xbox One versions of Ubisoft’s open-world racer The Crew.

What is interesting here is that the footage is so similar that only the really eagle-eyed will spot the subtle differences of which there are many if you have enough of a trained eye to spot them.

Bad and Bad..

Easy to pick, i know this game has a big world within it but every time i look at it hurts my eyes, if any developer can make a open world racer with DriveClub graphics, it would be glorious.

TeamVVV3727d ago

It does seem a shame that even today we seem to have to sacrifice looks for size in racing games. I'm hoping towards the end of this generation we'll get some great looking large open-world racers.

AudioEppa3727d ago (Edited 3727d ago )

Hey I don't know if you remember it, but back when the crew first got revealed at e3 2013, the CGI teaser they used, I was so hyped for next gen I actually thought it was going to be the games graphics lol

I hope the game industry eventually evolves into where publishers don't need to create trick demos/trailers to sell a game anymore, they can look just like CGI or better if the games vision calls for it, hopefully we get there sooner rather than a lot later.

Gamer19823727d ago

Publishers will always try to trick you as a gamer through some means it will never end that but I feel as gamers we learn and hold off nowadays until we see real footage. I know I do.

ManOfTheYear13727d ago

Forza Horizon 2 is huge open world and everything in it looks fantastic. Only sacrifice was that it had to be 30 fps instead of 60.

Plenty of cars, good physics and the usual ton of customization physical and mechanical..just like the damage.

So I would disagree with your analysis.

Mikelarry3727d ago (Edited 3727d ago )

Exactly, Burnout paradise on last gen looked better than this POS that ubisoft tried to pass as next gen racing.

LonDonE3727d ago

Agreed I LOVED BURNOUT PARADISE and yearn for a sequel on current gen consoles!
Seriously it was awesome, had great destruction, ran at a silky 60fps, was native 720p, had great art style, awesome mechanics and drifting, and had a seamless online.

I hope they make another one soon, and it defo puts allot of racers to shame!!

darrenb19883727d ago

i havent seen anyone on my friends list that plays this game...

Aceman183727d ago

I have a friend on mine that actually plays this, and I was watching him play through broadcast. To me it looks horrible on all fronts for my tastes in racers.

If I ever decide to actually play this I'd wait till this game $10.

kraenk123727d ago (Edited 3727d ago )

I loved the older NFS games like Underground and the first Most Wanted. The Crew reminds me a lot of those games and plays very similar which is why I really like the game. I even prefer it to cheesy Horizon 2 (yeah, I know I'm gonna get pubished for that).

Taylor_Oscar3726d ago

Got this game free on PC with a new graphics card and IMO its the most fun driving experience I have had for ages. Some graphics such as the interior of cars or while in the garage are TASTY. However some textures do let it down. On PC I would recommend it however I haven't played it on PS/XBONE is it really that bad??

Aceman183726d ago

@Taylor

In a word yes. It looks underdeveloped on both consoles

Dark_Overlord3727d ago

My brother bought this on release, played for an hour and hated it. He then bought Driveclub and hasn't touched The Crew since.

Father__Merrin3727d ago

it looked promising when I had it, but tbh it's not worth it as it's a single player game that is online only, it's off putting same with destiny I mainly played single player yet it's online only

falviousuk3727d ago

Can anyone create an open world game with great graphics,

YES, it's called Forza Horizon 2

johndoe112113727d ago

Could they have done forza horizon 2 with driveclub graphics? NO!

Dudebro903727d ago

Evolution couldn't make an open world game with driveclub graphics, so what's your point?

Bubble down for completely off topic.

3727d ago
johndoe112113727d ago (Edited 3727d ago )

@Dudebro90

Obviously you suffer from some sort of mental deficiency because I was responding to a comment from a poster and not the article. However, knowing your comment history, It really doesn't surprise me that you marked me down. Carry on.

@Messiah

Yes it is and that is exactly why I responded to falviousuk with what I did. The reason FH2 was able to be so open world was because it did not have DC graphics. otherwise it would have had the same limitations as DC did.

All these open wold racing games will be short on top of the line graphics for the early part of this gen. We shouldn't expect much from them until devs really begin to max out the hardware. until then we need to understand that if we want insane level graphics we would need to be contented with limited racers, hence my driveclub remark.

MysticStrummer3727d ago

@Dudebro - I assume you down bubbled falviousuk for the same reason…?

3727d ago
Dudebro903727d ago

@john

Bubbled fal not you. Wasn't clear.

No need yo attack me with the "comment history"

I simply made a mistake.

mcstorm3727d ago

@johndoe11211 did you even thibk before you put that. DC is a good game but have you played Horizon 2? It is by far the best racing game of this gen for me (Even beating Mario Kart 8) It has 100s of cars and races. Day/night and weather cycles. Open world and the game is massive. DC has nothing in terms of what it offers Horizon 2. Yes it look pritter but it is a closed game where you can only drive a path of each leval and things like trees dont even move.

Horizon 2 is a more complex game and no matter if you dont like the game or not you have to give credit to PG for what they have done with the game.

ManOfTheYear13727d ago

Yet DriveClub was missing mechanical damage and physical and mechanical customization. DriveClubs graphics are only slightly better then Forza Horizon 2's yet Forza Horizon 2 offers SO MUCH more in a racer then DriveClub.

DriveClub is really a poor mans racer charged as a full price racer.

PersonMan3727d ago (Edited 3727d ago )

Who says you can't have Driveclub graphics open world?

Has anyone ever heard of resource streaming? They don't have to load everything at once, it's streamed in as it's needed.

It's naive to think that open world games have to have bad graphics.

GTA V is open world and ran on last gen hardware. I think GTA V is visually the most impressive open world game I've seen on LAST GEN. If Rockstar can do that on LAST GEN, imagine what they could do with the PS4!

@Messiah23: You also have to remember that those invisible barriers are not there because the console is limited, they're there because it's a racer, not a drive-anywhere-you-want game. They want you to drive on the road and not cut corners. Also, I'm glad those barriers are there because if they weren't, you'd go off the road and it would take you forever for you to get back into the race. Trust me, you want those barriers. Plus, if you actually play the game the way you're supposed to, you wouldn't be hitting those invisible barriers now would you?

The Forza games are open-world?

ThePresentIsAgift3727d ago

To be honest that video compression is so frickin bad I can barely see the details in either pane. I would be very shocked if the game looked so poor running on my HDTV.

LordMaim3727d ago

Prepare to be shocked. It looks lackluster on both systems.

Whirlwind_Fanfare_083727d ago (Edited 3727d ago )

You got that right! this game seriously needs a graphics boost, challenging A.I., more cars, more online races, more story missions, fix the koenigsegg b/c they nerfed the hell out of it! 2nd gear has no speed, and instead of the top speed being 273 mph (stock), it's going 227 last time i checked, and the saleen S7 TT been nerfed to! top speed on it stock is 249 mph, after tuning it, 225! so actually it needs more than a graphics boost, it sucks b/c i like the game. Thankfully i got driveclub to enjoy where i don't have to deal with nerfed cars!

@Nykamari
If they can get R* san diego going again (if they haven't already) we just might see a new one. Last time i checked, lot of ppl left due the changes that they didn't like that was made there few years ago.

@johndoe11211
Disagrees for be truthful? wow!

Mikelarry3727d ago

I think the demo is still available but trust me it gets worse when it gets on your HDTV

MysticStrummer3727d ago

Yeah I downloaded it not long ago and was amazed at how bad it was, both in visuals and gameplay. I deleted it quickly.

Ubisoft holds firm in The Crew lawsuit: You don’t own your video games

Plaintiffs bring up a new claim, too, in amended complaint.

Christopher73d ago

***Replying to Ubisoft’s argument that the statute of limitations is up, the plaintiffs responded with their own photos of The Crew’s packaging, which states that the activation code for the game doesn’t expire until 2099; that’s an example of how Ubisoft “implied that [The Crew] would remain playable during this time and long thereafter,” per the amended complaint.***

I really hope this resonates with the judge on the two-sided talk Ubisoft has going on here. You can't have your cake and eat it as well, IMHO.

ABizzel172d ago

A few of more mishaps and Ubisoft won’t be around anymore anyway.

Assassin’s Creed and FarCry are keeping them alive right now, and it’s a shame. Tom Clancy games are at a minimum now, The Division had its run, Watch Dogs has come and gone, For Honor was something new-ish, their lacking in New IP, and their older franchises just aren’t getting the right love.

OWCY8772d ago

rainbow six siege is doing alright

neutralgamer199273d ago

I hope the judge favors the consumers because it really sucks what thees companies are doing. I am sure these companies will simply change their user agreements to add these new "we don't own the games clauses"

victorMaje73d ago

Ubisoft keeps trying so hard to not want my money. I will oblige.

isarai73d ago

Good thing i haven't bought a Ubisoft game since ac origins, and even that was a mistake 😆

Levii_9272d ago

I haven’t bought a Ubisoft game since 2014 and i don’t plan to change that.

Jingsing72d ago

I haven't bought a Ubisoft game since Watch Dogs 3.

vTuro2473d ago

Funny, now Ubisoft doesn't own them anymore either.

Now? You are almost a week late.

shadowhaxor436d ago (Edited 436d ago )

Wait. I don't get it. I reported on something that I recently noticed. I did mention in my article that I wouldn't have noticed if I hadn't gone to play The Division 2. That said, if this was nearly a week ago, I wouldn't know, as NO ONE REPORTED ON IT! Not IGN. Not Gamespot. Not Kotaku. No one.

You got people here complaining that there are any real gaming journalists and game journalism sucks, but when someone is acting, doing something to make something known to the public about what a company is doing. What do you do? You poke fun at it. What is it that people want? Do you want to complain for the sake of it? Or do you actually want people to do something to make those who aren't in the know aware of the shady stuff that's happening and to sound the alarm?

ravens52436d ago

It's the "oh well" setting in on digital users. They don't care they don't own their stuff for some odd reason. 🤷🏽.

FullmetalRoyale436d ago

Good for you! People sometimes just feel the need to show how little they actually have to say. Very respectful dressing down, btw, which is another thing we need more of.

fan_of_gaming436d ago

I appreciate your article,
- "If this isn’t considered both a “WTF” moment and setting a dangerous precedent, I don’t know what else it would be"
- "it could also signal other publishers that removing games from our accounts would be okay"
- "Maybe those firmly against this digital future have a point after all"
- "This. Is. Fucked. Up."

As someone against an only-digital/streaming future for entertainment content (movies/TV shows/games/books), it feels like talking into a void about the points above on this website, or on Twitter, or with my friends, etc. People don't get it. I'm strongly contemplating whether this will be my last generation of PlayStation & Xbox consoles (I'm confident enough that Nintendo's next system will still support physical media and that their 1st-party games won't have online-required installation or usage restrictions).

I see they're trying their best to surpass Activision Blizzard for being the most hated gaming company. Keep at it, Ubisoft, I believe!
