I hope so. We need more platformers!
Ori was the best game I have played all generation and one of my favourite games of all time.

Relientk771752d ago

Yeah, we definitely need to see a return of platformers

_-EDMIX-_1752d ago

lol hell no! At this point I'd rather the just let it die, no one from that original team is even at Rare anymore...

I would rather let them give it a try and hopefully surprise us with an amazing game then just let it die, no one really knows what they are capable of outside of Kinect games they could be better then the original Rare for all we know.

"Whatever these ex-Rare employees come up with...it wont be Banjo and Kazooie, which is what we want to see"

Bayonetta, Evil Within, Mighty 9 all say otherwise.

A rose of another name....

I'm a HUGE fan of Rare's work..ie per-MS take over. The ip means nothing to me, the gameplay by the creators is why I actually wanted a sequel.

Not purely based on IP alone. Same reason I don't care for the new DmC...its not by its original team and its very much feels that way too.

I want something by the team, not merely using the IP. I'd like to see the new Rare try, but I rather actually play what the ex-Rare devs are working on as they are the reason behind the magic in those games...

Would you play a Mario game that wasn't done by the original team? Consider what I want isn't merely just to have a game of the same name.

Try to be fan of the creators vs a fan of just a name...

"even with this new game made by Ex-Rare guys, wouldn't another B&K platformer be good and satisfy what the OP is talking about?"

What the op wants is what I wanted years ago...that just isn't going to happen at this point.

I think he wants a true sequel, but those developers are no longer at Rare. I wanted a DMC sequel to 3 in terms of feel and style...never happened.

Got Bayonetta..never looked back.

I wanted a Resident Evil that was just about survival and not an action game where you buy ammo and health..RER2 came close..., but got Evil Within and never looked back.

I stopped asking for those things and started following the developers instead. Bayonetta very much is DMC3's gameplay successor, Evil Within is very much an old school RE with RE4 gameplay. Its what I wanted, merely not from the IP I originally wanted it from.

I'm sorry but a Banjo 3 (what ever they call it lol) may not be any where near what it would have been with its original core team. I'm sure many will see this more clearly when Kojima leaves Konami.

@JoGam- Hopefully it will be, but I'll reserve my excitement until I play and feel it. again..DmC, RE lol IPs that have been done by other teams haven't really fared so well with me.

Hey Tim, I knew you would be in here. Banjo Kazooie is ur game. Hopefully the game will be exactly what the people want.

@EDMIX

"no one from that original team is even at Rare anymore..."

And?

mhunterjr1751d ago

I really don't understand this line of thinking. Franchises change hands all the time... Sometimes there are successes, sometimes their are failures, but nothing is guarunteed. To assume that a new banjo would be bad because they team is different is baseless...

There are much older franchises that are still alive today despite developer turnover ...

@AngelicIceDiamond -"no one from that original team is even at Rare anymore..."

And?"

(Jumps over desk in astonishment)

@timotim - if you feel just.

@mhunterjr- "I really don't understand this line of thinking"

yet

"sometimes their are failures"

lol.

That might be one of the reasons for concern...

"To assume that a new banjo would be bad because they team is different is baseless" Didn't say it would be bad, but I clearly still question if they can pull it off. Historically a team doing another ip that wasn't worked on by them originally doesn't really fare too well.

Like I said...I'll play a wait and see with this one, but I'm not holding my breath.

I also want to add in. Why would Phil just leave Rare to do Kinect games?

So what your sayin is Kinect has new talent so Rare shouldn't touch on their old Ip's is that right?

According to you Rare should just stay stagnant and continue to develop Kinect Sports all Gen long right?

Someone like you would'nt want one of the most respected teams to not excel you just want them to stay where they're at, ball and chain and become more irrelevant in in the industry.

Rare's been a slave to Kinect thanks to Don Mattrick. In other news Phil actually believes in the Rare's team to develop some interesting projects which is why they are free from Kinect.

@EDMIX Nope Any dev thats committed to making great games deserves a chance. I don't know what your talking about.

So I say to you AGAIN and?

The deep lolz. Never said any of that bud, not even slightly.

The gun...its clear you've jumped it. What I'm saying is purely from a nostalgic gamer's perspective and Tim makes it clear he is ok with the spiritual successor and a new Banjo so its all good.

I would legit not jump to conclusions so fast, I agree with Phil bring back that IP regardless of teams as it makes sense, KI made sense and I feel Banjo as a platformer does too, Conker too while where at it. Hell I would say I'm more angry that we haven't had that sooner. Conker's Bad Fur day fits the XB brand Sooooooooo well and I feel they need the platformer with Banjo too.

Business wise, its a great idea and I don't believe I ever stated anything in regards to the business aspect of this decision.

"Nope Any dev thats committed to making great games deserves a chance." Never said they didn't and mind you I agree with the statement made with "sometimes their are failures" as that is actually what I'm worried about.

"Rare's been a slave to Kinect thanks to Don Mattrick" I'm not really too sure about that as I've never read any thing that suggested that. Kinect when first released needed a developer like Rare so I see where they come in, in terms so development anyway. Rare is also a large team, they can likely do both.

Guess we'll see at E3, we very well could see a new Banjo this year

FallenRain1752d ago

Maybe not a release but I have a feeling we will see Banjo-Kazooie at E3.

gangsta_red1752d ago

There are way to many hints and talk about Banjo lately for there not to be a new game coming soon.

Was never a huge Banjo fan but I am curious on how a new banjo would be for the Xbox One. Looking forward to seeing what MS has in store.

greygoat1231752d ago

As long is it's an actual Banjo game. Not nuts and bolts 2.

OpieWinston1752d ago (Edited 1752d ago )

Screw that I'll take EITHER. I just need to take Banjo and Kazooie on another adventure. Don't care if it's Nuts & Bolts stylized.

Aslong as Gregg Mayles is their (Creator of Banjo)... We'll get a good experience.
