"Welcome to the newest installment of This Week in Gaming History, coming at you every Tuesday right here on [email protected]
This week we dig up the dirt on a special birthday boy by the name of Dig Dug.
According to the United States Trademark office, the name of Dig Dug was registered with a first use date of April 8, 1982, making the dirt-digging dude 33 years young this year. It was released in Japan around the same time, courtesy of their creators at what we then simply called Namco. Atari obtained the United States rights and produced the arcade game shortly thereafter."
