In a rather dramatic and heated post on MMORPG.com Community Manager for “successful” KickStarter MMO Greed Monger has informed fans and backers that the team have failed to meet any of the legal obligations tied with running a KickStarter campaign and the owner of the project, Jason Appleton, has gone through a "public meltdown."
In surprising news, Jason Appleton is making good on his promise to issue Greed Monger refunds in 2018 following the game's final cancellation.
Declared dead in May last year after way too much drama for one game, the Kickstarted sandbox mmorpg Greed Monger is back in development.
Greed Monger is canceled. Having run out of funding after a key investor dropped out, MMOInteractive felt that they were left with no other option.
Wow, this is a pretty messed up situation...
Upon reading the above article and the forum it lists as its source, I thought "Damn, this Jason guy is totally screwing everyone over!"
But then, after checking out what Jason himself had to say on the GM forums ( http://www.greedmonger.com/... I really don't know what to think anymore; this guy actually sounds a lot more reasonable and sympathetic than he's made out to be in the MMORPG.com forum discussion.
Anyway it'll be interesting to see how this pans out, and most of all I just really hope the KS backers don't get screwed over!
