Bloodborne | iLLgaming Review

More than 70 hours into Bloodborne, seeing the credits flow is in itself a beautiful as well as a heart wrenching feeling

I'd give the game a 9.5/10. Really the only gripes I have are the load times, seldom frame-rate drops(their kinda bad), and the ability for a monster and yourself to attack through solid walls. I've gotten the platinum for the game and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I haven't read this review but I have to agree with this comment. If they could patch in some slightly more refined AI to smooth out the whole "fighting through walls" thing (which really doesn't happen that often) and the performance issues, I'd be really impressed and the game would hold up better over time. Personally, I'd also like to see some of the easier bosses given an extra move or two to bring their difficulty in line with the overall progression.

Wonderful, wonderful game though, that I didn't realize how desperately I needed to restore my spark for gaming.

Sketchy_Galore3718d ago

Hey, leave that fighting through walls thing alone. If it wasn't for that I'd be working my way through a giant pig's small intestine right about now.

Pintheshadows3718d ago (Edited 3718d ago )

I find the AI to be quite hilarious.

Attacks beast. Beast turns and walks away. 'Hey, I am trying to fight you'. Beast continues to walk away. I am not worth his time. He tricked me, I turned away and he sprinted at me.

I also had a Lycan fall on top me after running away from it and rolling off a ledge. I thought I was safe. I was wrong. I was dead wrong.

HammadTheBeast3718d ago

I don't really feel the load times anymore, but the frame-rates, especially in Old Yharnam and a couple other areas are pretty bad with the drops. Overall though, it runs well enough and is beautiful to look at.

I'm am a huge From fan and I wouldn't give it a 10. Not b/c of load times either. They were frustrating at first. Now, I don't even notice them. Though, just an item to warp straight to Hunters dream would have been nice. Make it a chalice reward.

It reminds me of Destiny lol!

But, my issue, as an rpg fan is its streamlining. It doesn't take away from the game at all, but doesn't add that extra layer of depth. Really, I just wish that there were 2x as many outfits, species for different classes. Or various ones for different builds.

I'm gonna do strenthining next, but with all the same gear. I know why they did it. It's a huge exclusive and deep Souls rpg elements would have turned ppl off from what is otherwise a masterpiece in combat.

So, if a Lil streamlining garners more fans to experience a From game, I am fine. But I'm the guy who will always love the original ME best.

SpinalRemains1383718d ago

The way they did it was smart though.

Instead of having 50 armors, of which you wear only 1 for most of the game, or the best one at the moment, they gave us around a dozen sets which have roughly the same overall rating but with much diff specialties.

So in effect we are always mixing and matching the four pieces together to maximize a certain defensive effect which is predicated upon our current defensive need.

This way we keep wearing different things rather than just 'The Powerful Armor'

Perjoss3718d ago

A pro tip for reducing the time spent on the loading screen:

be better, die less :P

UKmilitia3718d ago (Edited 3718d ago )

Yeah the framerate is bad in places(too many places)and seems to be related to fog scenes.
the fact u can hit through a wall is silly, but through a gate is fine imo.
the load times while long ddnt really annoy me as much as i expected them too.

in full the game was epic and was my first in series.

i love the whole shortcuts, lamp system how it all flows .
on other hand the first hour i wanted to smash my console up until the game clicked andi found out about shortcuts lol.

One of the most enjoyable games I've ever played. For me, the only gripe would also be load times.
Fix that, and we have a game damn near close to perfection.

ContinuePlay3718d ago

Load times and issues with framerate are supposedly being improved in a performance patch they're working on.

S2Killinit3718d ago

The game is just done right. I'm thoroughly enjoying it.

Hanso3718d ago

Chalice Dungeons are so awesome
I cant believe how many new enemies and bosses From Software put in there 0____O
And the best loot in there!
Got some atk gems 21%+

Pintheshadows3718d ago

The only niggles I have are something that has been mentioned above, the frame hiccups, and the camera occasionally being quite insane, especially whilst locked on to a fast enemy.

Why a Bloodborne Sequel Could Never Be a True 'Bloodborne 2'

If FromSoftware's Bloodborne ever gets a sequel—and that's a big if—it won't be able to simply pick up where its predecessor left off.

probably due to some.of the endings true.

but u can still continue it on and subsequently end it for good.

The_Hooligan7d ago (Edited 7d ago )

I wonder if they could do a prequal where you play as part of the first hunt and see the blood research and the downfall of the healing church and the remaining hunters.

zaanan7d ago

That is a super great idea, I would 1000% pay full price for this! Only if Miyazaki directed, obviuosly. Bloodborne hooked me in a way Dark Souls never did.

“ People will read this and assume "must be a bloodborne remake coming".

Yep, that’s me! LOL

poppatron128d ago

I disagree, within 6 months the remake will be announced, it’ll be out in 2026 or the end of this year.

oldenjon128d ago

I don't know why they'd do something 3 years after the fact unless it represented some new conflict of interest though.

Can’t give it to Bluepoint? What are they doing exactly?

Redgrave143d ago

We just found out and the answer is nothing that you'll enjoy hearing

Npugz7143d ago

Bluepoint was given a live service game that Sony just canceled so they basically wasted that time and resources. Also layoffs are coming to bluepoint so it doesn’t look good.

Eonjay143d ago

This has been stated many times. Everyone keeps blaming Sony but it is in fact up to when Miyazaki is 'Not Busy'.
