The best Xbox One games

Eurogamer:
Forza Horizon 2 provides one of the finest racing experiences the latest generation of console hardware has to offer, for example, while the mesmerising and poignant Ori and the Blind Forest will charm the pants off all but the most stony-hearted of gamers. The future's looking even brighter for the console too, with the likes of Halo 5 due in a matter of mere months, and a long-awaited Crackdown sequel lying tantalisingly out of reach.

Throw in the ID@Xbox platform for indie developers, a generous helping of fan-requested updates, and the company's ambitious plans for cross-platform use of Windows 10, and you suspect that Microsoft has more than a few tricks left up its sleeve to surprise the competition with in the years to come.

Great list but it's missing some of the best games like Dead Rising 3, Ryse, and Forza 5

Xbox One has some of the best software available and next year it will be hard to beat with Scalebound, Gears of War 4, Quantum Break, and Crackdown 3

Khajiit863679d ago

Next year is a great year to get an X1.

Minute Man 7213679d ago

I'm getting mine Oct 27th hopes the Halo 5 X One console is at least a TB Hard Drive

Khajiit863679d ago

@minute man

Just wait another month until black Friday. the deals will be insane. Thats when I will be targeting one.

breakpad3679d ago (Edited 3679d ago )

i dont want to appear negative or PSfan but somehow nothing seems appealing from the list and the upcoming titles except maybe Scalebound which we havent seen how it looks and plays yet...none of them seems like a killer app while PS4 has already its own essential next-gen gem (bloodborn

StrayaKNT3679d ago (Edited 3679d ago )

Next year will be a complete massacre

Rares title
Scalebound
Gears of war 4
Crackdown 3
Phantom dust
Quantum break
Forza horizon 3
And with windows 10, we will get alot of pc games ported I'm sure.

That's only 7 titles we know of and I'm pretty sure at e3 this year and next year we will get some surprises for next year so I'm guessing about 8 or 9 megatons for 2016.
But don't forget this year is looking amazing as well with

Halo 5
Fable
Smite
Forza motorsport 6
Tomb raider
Gigantic
Below
Inside
Cuphead
And plenty more indie games

We might get more announced for this year at e3 like maybe a gears collection and an Alan wake remake which I would love to play as I didn't get the chance to play back in the 360 days.

All and all it will be a very brutal and fun two years for xbox one owners and I hope everyone enjoys the next two years because I definitely know I will.

Provolone243679d ago

lol massacre? The only massacre is on the sales chart, bud.

Crimzon3679d ago

Yeah, because sales numbers sure are a good substitute for having good exclusives to play...

Provolone243679d ago

@Crimzon why not have both like Sony?

Y'know what Microsoft's "blockbuster" holiday lineup consists of this year? Halo, Fable, and Forza. The same three games they've been making since the first Xbox. Tomb Raider doesn't count, and many of their indie titles like Inside are also timed exclusives. And that's not even to mention that they've released virtually nothing so far this year and won't until Halo in October. So if you like playing the same games over and over, sure; Microsoft's lineup is totally "killer". Personally, I like to experiences new IPs. The Order, Bloodborne, Until Dawn, No Man's Sky, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture. But, hey, to each their own I suppose.

Crimzon3679d ago

Well Xbox owners get all those games this holiday season yeah, meanwhile those of us stuck with only a PS4 have uh... well since Uncharted 4 got delayed, we don't really have anything, do we? Same as last holiday season really, Xbox owners got a bunch of great games and on PS4 we had DriveClub. Yay...

I mean if you want to trumpet games like The Order then be my guest, but I'm not going to buy any old piece of crap just because it's exclusive. I'd like exclusives that are actually good, you know? I mean back in the PS3 days, I wouldn't have shouted about how great games like Haze and Lair were, and I'm not about to do the same with all the lackluster exclusives on PS4 either.

Bloodborne is excellent, but unfortunately that's the first genuinely good exclusive we've got on PS4 since launch, and the wait until Uncharted 4 drops is going to be painful. Thankfully there's games like Metal Gear Solid V to make the wait a little more tolerable, but at the end of the day Sony massacring Microsoft in the sales charts doesn't do much for me when all I want is some good exclusive games to play.

That's what matters to me, anyways. Microsoft seems to be consistently putting out a steady stream of good exclusives for people who bought their console, and as a PS4 owner I'm pretty jealous of that. I just hope Sony gets their act together soon because I didn't buy a PS4 to play a bunch of multiplats.

christocolus3679d ago (Edited 3679d ago )

MS is definitely doing a great job with AA exclusives.

http://img.acianetmedia.com...

Provolone243679d ago

Uh. I think you have it a little backwards there hoss. How is dropping nothing for the first 9-10 months of every year releasing a "steady stream of good exclusives"? Sony is the company who sprinkles their exclusives throughout the year...

Microsoft does the same thing every. Single. Year. They throw everything they have on the table at E3, release it all during the holidays, profit, repeat. They don't care about making new experiences for their fan base. Halo drops, everyone blows a load, it sells millions of copies, and so they see no reason to change anything. Microsoft will play the safe card that they know will make them money every single time, guaranteed.

So Sony's last two holidays haven't been mind-blowing. Give it time. Most of Sony's biggest studios are still working on unannounced projects (Quantic Dream, Media Molecule, Guerilla, Santa Monica, Sony Bend, Sucker Punch, Naughty Dog's second team could be making another new IP for all we know). Remember back in holiday 2011 when Uncharted 3, Resistance 3, and LittleBigPlanet 2 all dropped around the same time? Infamous 2 and Killzone 3 were also released in that surrounding window, too.

You also have to keep in mind that Sony consistently has enough new content to spread across four different conferences (E3, GamesCom, TGS, and now PS Experience) while Microsoft whips everything out at E3 and then pretty much shows all the same stuff again over in Europe.

Lastly, "good" is completely subjective. You can take a dump on The Order like everyone else has; it doesn't make it a bad game. And that's just the thing: I'm not saying Microsoft's lineup is bad. I'm saying it's predictable and repetitive.

Crimzon3679d ago

That's the thing though, we've missed out on new experiences on PS4 because of Sony's foolishness. Sunset Overdrive looks like a really fun game, but we didn't get it on PS4 because Sony wasn't interested unless they got to own the IP. Titanfall looks like a really fun game but Sony weren't interested in giving the developers dev kits so they could make a PS4 version and then Microsoft grabbed exclusivity.

Instead we got predictable sequels to Infamous and Killzone which were disappointments compared to previous entries in the franchise. I mean sure we could criticize Microsoft for putting out Forza games every year, but when I'm dying for a good racing game on PS4 (and who knows when one of those is going to arrive) it's hard not to envy people who get to look forward to that. Besides, at this point Sony are milking franchises just as much as Microsoft.

I mean Naughty Dog is bringing us our fifth Uncharted game. Sony Santa Monica are probably working on what, the sixth/seventh God of War game? Suckerpunch are probably going to milk Infamous some more etc. so really, why even criticize Microsoft for doing the same thing? Even Nintendo milks their franchises and you know what? That's a good thing. If the games are good, why not make more of them? I won't complain about yet another Uncharted game because I like them, and you're just a hypocrite if you're going to complain about Microsoft giving their customers more Halo games when we're waiting on entries for Sony franchises that have been milked to death. Xbox owners get Forza 6 this year? Lucky them, who knows when we'll get the seventh (!!!) entry in the Gran Turismo franchise.

Great article by Eurogamer! Eben threes, which is not a "known" game worth a chance by xbox one players.

MCTJim3679d ago

What a good list. I'm still playing Titanfall till this day!!

StrayaKNT3679d ago

I jumped on last night with septic and we slapped the living daylights out of everyone Lol that game is so fun and wow the community is strong there is literally no wait to get out into a full loby. For a game that came out early last year, I'm really impressed.

Pogmathoin3679d ago

I am sure Septic is happy you said that 😃

MCTJim3679d ago (Edited 3679d ago )

Agreed. There are so many people still playing this game. Heck they are giving the DLC away for free now so it reinvigorated the community again. I just plain out love the game..its the "fun" factor when you are playing with friends it wouldn't matter if we won or lost.

@WeareLegion...LOL at the steath disagrees for your favorite games...trolls in this article too.

Moldiver3679d ago

"I jumped on last night with septic and we slapped the living daylights out of everyone Lol"

Where was my invite though! Septic has me on his friendslist. Lemme just say nobody takes a titan down quicker than me :). I would have ran a few games with yall...then jumped back on to neverwinter. Im loving that game right now. And judging by the amount of people I see running around, I aint the only one who is getting hooked on it.

I cant believe I waited so long to buy my X1. But Its sure making up for lost time :)

Blackleg-sanji3679d ago

Take out the other multiplats ad it's still a pretty good list it's alot of fun having an brand new Xbox one next to my ps4

WeAreLegion3679d ago

My favorites are Sunset Overdrive and Dead Rising 3.

Microsoft bought all of Zenimax Media for 7 billion, while Sony paid 4 billion for Bungie. I think Microsoft got the better deal due to acquiring Fallout, ElderScrolls and Doom.

So you're saying that Microsoft has missed out on so many huge gaming franchise in the last 25 years from GTA exclusivity to guitar hero and destiny it's just laughable they had so many misses

Reaper22_241d ago

Yea, but they're still 100 times more wealthy than Sony. I would say it worked out well.

Gamingsince1981241d ago

Xbox is dead all that money doesn't help.

Hypertension140241d ago

What has work out well? It sure as hell had nothing to do with Xbox.

andy85241d ago

That isn't because of Xbox though. This is a gaming page, not an I get supplemented by father Windows page

Bathyj240d ago

Microsoft's money has nothing to do with Xbox.
Xbox is a money pit to them they would love to ditch but are after some ROI first.

Let's face it, Xbox is like a red headed stepchild that steals from you to buy drugs.

Hofstaderman240d ago (Edited 240d ago )

MIicrosoft is NOT XBOX. The current situation illustrates this. And Microsoft wants its ROI.

@Bathyj and daddy Satya has just force admitted Phil to rehab.

gold_drake240d ago

you know why MS has so much money, and it aint cause of the gaming xbox branch.

so lets not kid ourselves.

PhillyDonJawn240d ago

Xbox was shown to be more profitable than ps

jznrpg240d ago

@PhillyDownJawn not more profitable. More revenue with ABK acquisition but them going multiplat shows they are not making much profit

ocelot07240d ago

That's great for Xbox gamers ain't it that Microsoft are more wealthy than Sony. Is that really a argument use are using now lol?

Imagine me in my job. Arguing with a fellow security guard at another company. Hahah well the company I work for is worth £800m the one you work for is only work £600m!

240d ago
Knightofelemia240d ago

Microsoft may have more money but Sony has the talented studios and the games to back up those studios.

Plus turning down Marvel too. Spiderman is only exclusive to Playstation because of that

Hedstrom240d ago

Best deal deal in gaming must be when Sony bought Insomniac for 229 million dollars. They made over 800 millions on Spiderman for the ps4 alone. Thats just crazy!

XBManiac240d ago

More in the 1.000 million now.

gold_drake240d ago

another Interview?

how is he the only one who loves the spotlight as much as he does lol

Futureshark240d ago

Let's not forget he also famously passed on Spider-man, Genshin Impact and GTA3.

However it's almost kind of cute how he can keep that sh1t-eating grin and say he's a 'no regrets' kind of guy, especially when you think how much just these 5 titles could have swung the world in Xbox's favour instead of Sonys.

How he's kept his job I don't know, he must sure be keeping Papa Nadella's shaft warm somehow.

"But, but Gamepass, he introduced that!!!"

Yes he did, and now look at Xbox, all it's exclusives are coming to Playstation now rendering the platform obsolete.

DarXyde240d ago

Honestly, with that kind of track record, you can't convince me Spencer hasn't eaten it from the back in the name of self preservation. Probably unwashed...and at least twice.

That aside, my interpretation of everything here is Xbox has been mismanaged a bit too much and Nadella came down from his throne. The way it is now, I don't believe for a minute the multiplatform move was Spencer's idea. I don't even think the acquisitions was Spencer's work. At this point, I reckon he's got as much power in his role as Hunter Biden at a Ukrainian energy company.

DivineHand125240d ago

You can never tell how things will turn out if he had said yes to those games. Xbox already has access to some great IPs, however, they hardly do anything with them or fail to deliver. It's also possible their presentation wasn't good at the time, and they made sure the next presentation was better.

I believe that part of being successful is releasing things in the right place at the right time.

Many major corporations have a story similar to passing on successful business ideas. Let us look at Sony Pictures for example. Back when Marvel went bankrupt, they had the opportunity to buy the entire Marvel for only $25 Million but turned them down. An unnamed big shot at Sony reportedly claimed that “nobody gives a shit about any of the other Marvel characters,”. They ended up taking Spiderman for $10 Million instead.

https://www.avclub.com/sony...

Fast forward to today, we can see what the Marvel brand has done for Disney. Is it possible the same success would have been possible had Sony acquired those IPs. We can't say that for sure and it is possible most of those IPs that are successful today may not have been used.
