Does Bloodborne Set New Benchmarks For Graphics And Performance On PS4?

It does have some nice looking stuff but it isn't an incredible looking game. It doesn't set any bars and it isn't going to win any graphics awards. I haven't run into the frame rate issues you guys speak of - though there was a red flag when they said a day 1 patch would improve performance. I don't play online mode though cause I wont pay for ps+.

You don't need PS+ for anything apart from PvP as far as I'm aware so jump online, half of the experience is seeing notes, deaths and helping people.

Yeah I've experienced some hiccups in my playthrough but the art style is superior. Oh and it does a little thing called gameplay pretty well too.

It's been good for me, but I did notice a bit of hiccups when I was in the forbidden forest. There's a spot with like 3 bonfires close together and that seemed to cause a small problem. But, it was barely noticeable and it was smooth after I moved on from that area.

It's been a fantastic game so far!

Worst thing about Bloodborn is the loading time. 30s-50s sometimes feel so long especially after dying during an epic fight.

I believe the order set the bar. But there is no doubt that this is one of the best looking next gen games out there. Better than anything on xbone any way.

The frame rate is pretty solid actually. Only in co op does it struggle.

The art direction is also top notch

frame rate isnt terrible. demon's and dark souls had terrible frame rate. only in MP is where the frames take a dip and noticed it during the one reborn fight

I wouldn't call the graphics great. And the framerate is nowhere near terrible. Some frame timings seem to be off from time to time which results in stutter. The artstyle is great but technically it has some issues like aliasing and some low res textures here and there.

Yes. When you're playing with 2 others the frame rate is atrocious. Of you're invaded and there are 4 total, along with enemies, the game struggles. Its not like Blighttown, but its very obvious and slow.

This is the only knock I have on the game. For a game which gives us over 100 hrs easy, I'll take it with a smile. When I finished Force Unleashed 2 in 4 hours, I swore off those games forever. Four hours? Really?

I've seen the frame rate drop with PvP and co-op, but I've also seen it smooth. I have my in game network setting on Worldwide so I figured the choppy games were from more distant players or people who have slow internet. Idk.

IMO the framerate is way more devestating than the long load times. The first spot where I really noticed a massive fps drop was during The One Reborn. At times it felt sub 20fps which makes fighting a tough boss a major pain.

The excessive use of chromatic aberration makes the graphics look terrible on the sides. It gets all blurry and color fringy. I don't see why they intentionally made the game look worse! It actually takes more GPU to get worse graphics! Get rid of the CA and you will get some FPS back as well as sharpness!

I've also played The Order ...or should I say I've watched The Order and I agree. The Order looks AMAZING but there is no doubt that Bloodborne has its own unique look. I can appreciate The Order for its graphical advancements but I can say that Bloodborne is BEAUTIFUL in its own respect.

I would not say it sets benchmarks for graphics but it has set a very high benchmark for being such a great game and in my opinion, the best on the ps4 and one of the best I have ever played!

It's so ridiculous how people automatically shoot down a game for having minor issues (issues that can be rectified with a patch). Bloodborne is ONE of the nicest looking games on the PS4 and the only issues I've had with frame rate occur in Old Yharnam. Let's be honest guys, unless this is your first From Software game you shouldn't be surprised that the PVP is a bit off balance with frame rate and lag issues. Not a single game since Demon's Souls has perfected PVP. The lag and hit boxes for Demon's Souls and Dark Souls 1 & 2 are terrible and these issues seem to have found their way back in Bloodborne. For those saying that the game isn't great looking and that the frames are horrible, don't kid yourself. The game has amazing scenery all throughout its world and these "frame rate issues" will only happen in Old Yharnam and I would know ... I'm on NG++++.

well, there is a LOT you can skip and still complete the game - also,before the patch, there was that duplication glitch - which would speed things up in a big way as well. I just started NG+....but I did EVERYTHING I could in the first game and I spent time looking for as much stuff as I could find. as far as my opinion, for anyone to play the game thru and see all the bosses, there isn't any reasonable way to be on your 4th run of the game inside of 2 weeks - unless you've used glitches/exploits.

Not an apologist. I'm not justifying anything. The only issue I have is with people that constantly complain about every little thing in a game. The game is a great piece of work. We live in a generation where games are released at 90% at their best. It's sad but true. If this wasn't the truth there would be no patches for any games but sadly there are. I'm not okay with games being released with bugs and issues but it comes with the new hardware and has been the issue since last generation and yet still people, like yourself, continue to get their feelings hurt because games aren't made 100% perfect before release ... but I'm sure you're a skilled game developer and would know better than anyone else here how easy it is to perfect a game.

i think it looks great but not the best i've seen on ps4. the framerate is a bit wild at times and i dunno if its my new tv/setup but it seems sometimes it stutters or stalls every now and then in a kind of glitchy way - only seems to happen on BB so I assume its the game frame rate issue. it also kinda bugs me when your character lifts his arm, you can see the texture stretch in a really obvious way. not a big deal but noticeable. that said, the animations of the characters are fantastic - especially the hair like stuff coming off of say the cleric beast etc. The Order followed by DriveClub are probably the best graphics i've seen on ps4 in terms of quality and performance, but Bloodborne is a much better game than the Order imo.

Its not your tv ,the game framerate is bad and the Frame-Pacing issue makes it even worst ,horrible technical support from the developers!If the game had a stable framerate and the Frame-Pacing was corrected this game would play good,now people die because the game sutters and due to the Frame-Pacing,the Frame-Pacing causes higher input lag in the controller its higher than what would be without this technical flaws!Dieying from stupidity ts one thing but people die because the performance its a crap thats the truth ,some fanboys dont seem to acknowledge because they dont mind to die 50 to 100+ times to pass one level.

Watch the NXgamer analysis. The game mostly has solid 30 fps. The frame pacing is the real problem which makes it look worse than it really is.

Graphics actually aren't that great. If you look real close you can see that some textures have really low quality, but you almost wouldn't notice because the game is mostly very dark
