MLB 15: The Show First Impressions | Can We Talk About The Loading Times?

While many naysayers claim that new iterations of The Show are just glorified roster updates with a $60 price tag, it’s imperative to remember that San Diego Studio have less than a 1-year cycle to develop a new game and add as many features and improvements as possible.

"it’s imperative to remember that San Diego Studio have less than a 1-year cycle to develop a new game and add as many features and improvements as possible."

I think games like this should take Rock Band's approach, plan for one release and lots of updates during the life of the system.

TGF_Zero3311d ago

Agreed but SSD also pride themselves on graphical fidelity and it would just feel plain wrong if an MLB: The Show game looked not-so great, we're so used it being gorgeous all the damn time.

The gameplay, animations, and cutscenes just make it feel like a ps3 port still. Next gen lighting and shadows is all they seem to care about. Sad really... If they only have is less than a year, take a year off...

traumadisaster3310d ago (Edited 3310d ago )

Exactly, they don't have to have a 1 year deadline. They self impose their own voluntary release date.

Release it when it's done.

I moved to staying a year or 2 behind on baseball games after getting burned last gen. It looked so good in 08 that even 13 was very similar graphically.

Spotie3310d ago

... you kinda can't do that with a sports game. That doesn't even make sense as a suggestion.

WizzroSupreme3310d ago

Great, the loading times have been dreadful for the last two games of the series. Won't be picking this up.

WeAreLegion3310d ago

The loading times aren't great, there are tons of bugs, and the graphics are inconsistent, but this is still the finest sports experience on any system.

I just wish they would take two years to make these games.

Subaruwrx3310d ago

Sports franchises are annualized because team personnel change from year to year. Because of this fact, it's not really possible for a developer to take two years to develop each iteration of the game.

Wh15ky3310d ago (Edited 3310d ago )

They're annualised because they get away with it. The roster changes from season to season are why they get away with it.

Why is it not possible, nowadays, to move to two yearly releases? Surely this is one instance where DLC and season passes should be considered acceptable.

WeAreLegion3310d ago

They literally update the roster every time it changes. What are you talking about?

WickedLester3305d ago

@WH15ky,

Spot on!

Ideally what they need to do is release semi-annually and the in-between years release a 20.00 roster pack. Either that or have 2 teams working on this franchise and have each team alternate their releases.

Personally I think it would help SDS tremendously if they would just cut last gen loose and focus solely on current gen.

Do not buy the playstation headset it's terrible and the sound quality is awful. The bluetooth broke on mine after 2 weeks. Now I have to connect it to the DS4 with the wire.

Don't know why sony made such a cheap product.

Dynasty20213073d ago

Because blind fanboys are blind.

I tried the wireless headset about 2 years ago, and sent it back. The audio is better on my in-ear heaphones worth 1/10th of the Sony ones.

Tsunade3073d ago

I have the PlayStation headset since it was released and had zero problems so far. I like that I can use it wireless and wired too. I believe it is a good headset in my opinion but that is me that has had no problems with it at all.
