Microsoft Dashboard Update Removes Zero Functionality, And Other 'New Xbox Experience' Tidbits

MTV Multiplayer writes: "At the Xbox 360 Community Roundtable at E3 on Monday, I learned a few more small but potentially significant details about the upcoming revised Xbox 360 dashboard (aka the New Xbox Experience).

Players will be able to rip any Xbox 360 game past, present or future from their discs to their hard drive. This may speed load times, but more importantly for those of us who can't hear our vacuum and lawnmower over our 360, this means we can play games without a noisy disc-drive spinning. "

All the new features of the dashboard seemed awesome but.........

It sounds kinda weird but it didnt fill up the screen enough for me! There was to much space and kinda looked abit barren around the edges

Im used to the blades and their allscreen encompassing majesty.

I know im getting more bang for my buck but could we perhaps put different colour backgrounds on there or something?

Bladestar6181d ago

I am sure the background color can be changed.. that's like a no brainer. The good thing about this update is that people that want to keep using the old stuff can...

iNcRiMiNaTi6181d ago

just not too thrilled about the new look

ry-guy6180d ago

Agree with the look, not too thrilled and yup I'm looking into a 120G harddrive now :(

Any good deals out there?

Megatron086180d ago

I might have to get a new elite (my 360 is almost 3 years old anyways) I'd agree that I dont really care for the new look or about the avatars but a lot of the new features sound really good

titntin6181d ago

Lets face it - those who've been dishing the dirt on Ps3 20 minute installs are going to get it thrown right back at them once they see a 45 minute install for this feature! :)

Of course its NOT maditory (it wouldn't work on all sku's), but you have to say, given how annoyingly loud the machine is - almost every gamer with a hard drive will take the 40 minutes just to stop that dmn wine! I knbow I will!

Good feature though, I'm glad we'll get this option!

Yeah your right.I have stuck with my pro system since 360 launched but now i will have to upgrade my HDD.I only wish Microsoft would reduce the price of their HDD because the 120gig is way to expensive.

I love my Best Buy employee discount

byeGollum6181d ago

i think that is a brilliant thing to do, puts less strain on the 360 & less of the annoying noise

DavidMacDougall6181d ago

Thought you all got that ever time you played for 15mins and called the firemen

The Evil Within Deserved More: A Great Horror Series Left Behind

The Outerhaven writes: While I hold Bethesda's The Evil Within series as some of the best Survival Horror games available, it's clear that Bethesda has no intention of revisiting the series. While Capcom is still working on its Resident Evil series, I look back at the now-dead survival horror series from Bethesda, wondering why the series was left wide open, and yet still not revisited.

An OK horror series left behind. It had some great ideas, but it never knew how to play to its strengths. Instead, it came out like just another RE4 clone.

I would love for a third entry to come out, but it needs to learn to lean in on the psychological aspect and move away from the generic "pew pew" ideology at the center of the gameplay loop. It doesn't need to abandon it; it just needs to put it into better context, is all.

Also, try a first-person perspective instead. Too many 3rd-person games with nothing to offer but an avatar taking precious screen space. At least make it an actual option and not that janky-ass mess the second game pretended to have.

PS5/Pro/Switch 2 version of RDR2 seems most likely. I’d love a RDR3 but that seems years away

Cacabunga1d 14h ago

Id be happy for just a 60fps patch

OmegaSoldati1d 13h ago (Edited 1d 13h ago )

Agreed, but at the same time RD2 came out in 2018. Could it be a remake of Red Dead 1?

Spoiler:

Marston died in the end of Red Dead and Red Dead 2 is set before that. Im curious now. What news could it be?

mkis0071d 6h ago

I'm pretty sure the next game will be another prequel as the story really has no where to go as far as being a western after red dead redemption. The next game will end with the ferry boat incident.

Their contracts are iron clas if they leak anything legit they are threatened with immense legal action.

My hopes for what this is are minimal its probably a meet and greet with the cast

I dont see why they would be involved in a upgraded version of rdr2 when the dialogue hasn't changed

thorstein1d 12h ago

He seems to have been cleared to do this as he purposely picked up the game, streamed it, and made the announcement.
