Microsoft E3 Impressions

NextGen Player writer Andrew Green gives his impressions on the Microsoft E3 press conference.

Stuff i like.
I like the interface.
New movie and tv content.
New Downloable game like portal and gemotry wars.
more community features.

The stuff I didn't like.
--Not showing off new retail games like Splinter cell, Alan Wake, or Halo of any sort! what happen to them.
--Using the vision toy was exactly like eyetoy.
--using the lips was exactly like singstar.
--The Avators looked really simplistic.

I really didn't like the crew they used for showing off the Yours MOVIE.

I'm not sure who told them that she was the fan favorite. I'm pretty sure the fan favorite is Jen from PR. Does anyone know where she is now? We haven't heard from her in awhile.

I think it was pretty bad. Nothing stands out, except for a multiplatform announcement. No new games were shown, which is sad, really sad. The Avatar is a blatant ripoff of Nintendo's Mii, hell they even look similar. And games we already knew about weren't shown off much. Netflix is ok, but not a major thing. Arcade games are fine but retail games are more important. Overall, its obvious that they want the ps2 crowd (as does everyone else), but they have a long way to get there. Oh and the lips and vision toy is way too similar to Sony's Singstar and Eyetoy.

i think they did it so rude to other consoles, they should just talk how they are going to succeed with there console but most of the time they just pinpointing how they going to bring down the ps3. so immature not professional

...It was okay in some areas, until the FFXIII bombshell and that douchebag commenting on how Microshaft was going to do this, and how they were going to do that to beat Sony.

Keep it up Microsoft. See where buying those exclusives will get you.

i agree with mostly of this but first off im not fanboy i just hope ff13 isn't pushed back any farther cause of multi plat at first i did care have no ideal why but then im like what the hell does it matter i get to play the game so no big deal. and besides that ill have a 360 soon anyways so yeah its all good.

All they talked about is video content..mostly.
And they also talked about American sales...not worldwide. Why?? because both the PS3 and Wii beats the 360 world wide.
It was a terrible performance from MS.

i'm not a huge FF nut (i loved 7 but none since has stood out) but do realize its popularity. one thing to consider: even before the 360 announcement today; this game has been in dev. for a long time and has been shrouded in square silence. there have been no substantial gameplay trailers and still(to this day) square can't even give an approximation of when it will be released let alone an actual date. add to that the several other rpgs they are doing and now add to THAT a 360 version of FF13 and one has to wonder just when this game is going to get done? square seems to be sqreading themselves thin and this is a company that will tend to drag out the development process of 1 game for 1 system.(let alone multiple games for multiple systems) everyone waiting for FF13 better get real relaxed; cause i don't think it's coming any time soon.

You make a good point and something I was thinking about after the announcement. They are making so many RPG's and it seems they are pulling people off different projects to help out with existing projects. Now that FFXIII will face more delays to get released, it many not come out on the 360 until 2010 and by then the 720 might be the next big machine on the horizon. FFXIII may not sell many 360's as it may catch the platform at its tail end.

The show was great! Sony better come with all guns firing tomorrow and not go over all the same things they've been talking about for the last 2 E3's.

I'm sure whatever it is this place will go crazy over it making today look like a bookclub meeting. Sony can show a 10sec trailer of Resistance 2 and people here will claim it's the second coming of Jesus and how it's all over for MS.

How was microsofts E3 this year????...Fukin terrible! just like last years making it easy for sony 2 come back and slap them in the head just like the V8 drink commericals...and this year won't be any different. When I think about it. The FF13 announcement was bad timing. It totally took attention away from it's biggest game which is Gears 2.....which looked awesome BTW. Gears 1 got me to get a 360 and Gears 2 will make me keep my 360 not FF13.

they did ok: i give it a 7.5 out of 10

-the announcement of FFXIII going multiplaform was huge and shocking, Money talks.

-but everything else was expected for the conference, like the new dashboard update, the avatars, and the games that have been announced for a while.

-the lips games, scene it game, and that movie game are all basically counter-parts of their PS version(eyetoy games,singstar,Buzz) but with a small twist.

-they didnt showed Halo wars or Alan Wake again.

i want to see how sony retaliates here with the FFXIII going Multi-platform announcement. they seriously have to show something big this E3, cause this is unnaceptable, they allowed to lose another exclusive.

I was a bit underwhelmed by the conference. All the rumors about motion controls and the Minority Report type interface proved either false or still in the cooker. For hardcore fans, we already know about the lineup they had and there was nothing new there. It seems alot of attention went to Live and the casual crowd on this one. The FFXIII shocker was more of a side note.

i have to say it, a part of the gamer in me went cold, very cold.

FF13, that was a soberise and i don't care what anyone else says, i bought my ps3 for mix and FAY, now i feel like i have less reason to keep it. i know there are lots of other great games coming on the ps3, yes i know... but FF13 is the reason i bought it.

still looking at the cam stuff and everything else... seems like gears and fable are the only reason i have to switch on the 360 this year.

ya the guys presenting.. what a bunch of clowns ! i know a lot of people didn't like peter M, but ha, you could watch him and laugh. i got to the point i could not watch it and just closed it and listened.

good they got FF13, funny listening to all the fanboys go on about how it does not matter, oh its not that great...blah, blah.... anyone remember when they said it could not be done.

still as for all the rest of the crap they showed, felt like a waste of my time. i have never been so underwhelmed by E3 before.
