Discover 10 timeless video games from the past that remain absolutely playable today. From Chrono Trigger to DOOM, these classics have aged like fine wine!
Hot damn that's a good list. The only one i never played is AOE2 and i never finshed Chrono Trigger but it was damn good.
Speaking of what's old but holds up amazingly well and plays like a dream.. i played Symphony of the Night for the first time in 2019.. yep that's right. It became one of my favourite games of all time that i replay almost every year. I couldn't believe how good it was. That is almost impossible for me with newer games let alone older ones. Truly a special gem.
The only one I’d disagree with is doom. It shows its age badly I think. After 5 minutes of play these days you put it down.
The PS2 is one of the most celebrated consoles of all time, and what makes it better is that a lot of its games have managed to age better than most.
As PlayStation celebrates its 30th anniversary, let's explore the best PlayStation games Sony has to offer.
There's too many games to choose from
No Metal geat solid 1,2,3,4?
No Resident evil?
No Silent hill?
No Midnight club 3?
No NfS Underground 2?
No Final Fantasy?
No Burnout 3?
No Dragon quest 8?
No Days gone?
No Ace combat?
No Tekken/Soul calibur?......
just from the top of my head
PS1 era was full of great RPGs, PS2 was racing generation i would pick top 200 and even that would be just a fraction.
Blood Omen was one of my favourite games on the original PlayStation - in spite of the dodgy graphics. Kain is one of the all-time great anti-heroes, and I loved the story, aesthetic, and fact you could play as a creature of the night, rather than someone hunting it.
Dungeon Keeper is sick, that's all you need, nothing else for the rest of time.
Shadow of the Collosus is up there with the best games ever.
SOTC was an experience from the start to the end. From the first scene to the last. That music at the start and the long road to the temple to meeting my first Collosi. My first impression when I saw one was Holy f*ch lol!.
It was a game that defy normal gaming convention.
You don't have countless enemies as fodder. You don't have drastically different locales. You don't have intricate dialog and cutscenes like most games conveying emotion or telling the story.
Yet, despite all of these. It was the greatest gaming experience par none for me. The atmosphere, the music, the graphics, the gameplay, the level design, the art style, the fantasy the simple story premise of a guy, his dead girl, his horse and these giants and the lengths he would go and what it will take out of him.
I was moved to tears at the end of this game. Big boss final salute was the only other moment.
SOTC easily easily one of my favourites. Immersion.
Hopefully The Last Guardian can be revived out of development hell, somehow, and get some sort of indication at E3.
