Itagaki continues to be a firebrand after all these years.
If you guys miss the Itagaki that said the most outrageous things in the late 90s/early 2000s, you should read this.
OMG Itagaki-san just returned to the series its clear he wants to since he keeps talkin about it. Itagaki-san returns for Dead Or Alive 6 releasing in 2017. There.
add bouncing nipples he would recommend
He was actually OK with many of the changes to the game, including deemphasizing the triangle system (throws vs holds vs strikes) and the realistic art style. he doesn't like the costumes, or the name of the soft engine, and of course, the poor PS4/Xb1 launches
Team Ninja are officially suffering from the "triple bind" or should that be "nipple bind"? Me confused?
Why would DOA need saving seems to be more popular than ever
I like Itagaki but DOA was never that great of a fighting game to begin with. I prefered Soul Caliber or Virtua Fighter
DOA is my facilitate fighting series behind mortal kombat. It's fantastic.
I really hope he goes back to team ninja cause ever since he left ninja gaiden hasn't been the same.
I've talked to Itagaki and he's not on social terms with Team Ninja.
Hum .... Prescription to save DoA? DoA has already been saved. He had the right formula with DoA2 and 3 weither we like it or not . He messed all of that up with DoA4 wich even saw it's community die of quickly , and still the maisntream FGC not taking the franchise more seriously . The game didnt even sell half as much as DOA3 . I only agree that the dlc are an annoying trend , but it's still mostly cosmetic stuff . And that Last Round's bugs and launch mistakes were embarassing , but that's it . Doa5 isnt perfect , but did a lot of stuff right , brought the serie back commercially speaking even if it's part thanks to the franchise being multiplatform again , and got taken more seriously , despite the same old controversity about T&A content . It was even overtaking for a long while a struggling Tekken tag 2 .
Uh What? DOA4 was the best in the series...You clearly don't even know what your talking about, It sold less than DOA2 and 3 because it was ONLY on the 360 DOA 2 and 3 were on everything...It was also a launch title for 360, nor did the community die off quickly there are still some people who went back to it and until DOA5 released the community was decently active
You dont even know that DOA3 was xbox exclusive ...The DOA Ultimate compilation too too wich even outsold DOA4 . And i did mention that part of DOA5's success was it being multi . And aside from that , plenty old DOA fans werent happy with the changes of DOA4 ... so let's not pretend i bring it up out of the blue . One of the common complains , albeit exagerated was that "All the advanced gameplay mechanics that were available in DOA3.1 were taken out of DOA4 and replaced with guessing." DoA3.1 was one of the pinnacles of the DoA franchise for competitive gameplay mechanics. DoA4 (while having some good ideas) did not advance the game in a competitive manner for many . It went backwards on those designs . Among many examples , the wall was something to be feared in doa3.1. DoA4 you can hold off the initial bounce, you can immediately slow escape to the ground negating the wall bounce, and you can do a wake up kick off the wall .
DoA4 lacked any kind of real guaranteed damage, there was a back door to every single situation outside of juggles and throws. The risk/reward factor was completely skewed, constantly taking high risks for very little reward. Everything is disadvantage on block making punishing with attacks very difficult, and the lack of frame advantage, two in one's, true combo's etc... made for a very very stale gameplay at high level. Repeating myself ... i feel that everything that made DoA3.1 extremely competitive was REMOVED from DoA4 . And it was a pervasive sentiment offline and online for plenty people at the time .
Shut up itagaki , just shut up it's getting really embarassing.
Hard not to come off as an armchair general saving a series you aren't even helping to save anymore.
Yeah DOA5, is just fine.
"Never add any meaningless features to your games." - Itagaki I agree.
It's funny how Itagaki keeps choosing to flame DOA instead of hyping the Devils Third... He doesn't even mention his game, he himself know's its a pile of shit that was derailed from it's hype train 5 years ago. Karma will hit him on the flip side, when his shitty outdated game gets even shittier reviews and dies out with the Wii.
Actually he has been talking about Devil's Third. He's only been tight lipped because of Nintendo's marketing plans but apparently he'll be at E3. I can only assume they're keeping D3rd and Splatoon hype safely apart from each other so both sell well, but who knows? Really, a lot of what we hear from Itagaki stems from him talking to fans on Facebook a lot. I suggest you add him as a friend and post on his wall; he'll accept everyone. No guarantees you'll stick around if the other fans hate your posts though :)
Wow, Itagaki has been talking about DOA a lot lately hasn't he. I understand that he only wants what is best for Team Ninja and Doa, but some of his views I just simply do not agree with. This is coming from a lifelong fan of 16 years. I respect Itagaki immensely, he is DOAs father, and without him it would not exist. But his recent views on story "Read his latest interview about how he would have done DOA5s story" and criticisms of current TN, I don't agree with. I happen to like the DLC outfits they have been releasing. I also like the way they have treated the characters and the story plots they have involved them with, it's very safe I know, but still believable in DOAs world. Current TN has made plenty of blunders with the release of Last Round on new gen, I was one of the unlucky's who had his save wiped out and could not touch his DLC for weeks. The PC release has signs of neglect. But on the bigger picture, current TN has practically and literally changed DOA image completely. Starting with the amazing redesign of the character models. They took what was an underground fighter living on its memories and made it new again. DOA is everywhere right now, on all consoles, pretty much the only new fighter out. So they have been doing a lot right simply proven by the fact that I'm writing about them and your reading about them. Bring on more Senran Kagura like DLC updates and there is no stopping DOA
