Time Magazine Lists the 30 Most Influential People on the Internet

MWEB GameZone writes: Time Magazine analysed social-media followings, site traffic, and overall ability to drive news to determine the Internets top 30 most influential people. Anita Sarkeesian and PewDiePie both made the list.

Who would've ever thought that a guy who streams videos of himself playing games would make the same influential people's list as the president of the United States?

The story is too old to be commented.

PewDiePie I can see belonging there with his massive following but not so sure about Anita.

HanCilliers1518d ago

LOL, for me it's the other way around

pompombrum1518d ago

Pretty much what I was thinking, Anita is a woman with a big mouth and knows how to use it.. that's far more powerful than a guy who makes stupid noises to entertain children.

She's been pretty much all the talk of this list. Every time she writes a Tweet, the gaming community is up in arms like it's 1999.

That being said, I think it's a shame that no educators found their way to the list. Bucky Roberts or Salman Khan, for instance.

To the handful of people who still read that magazine it won't matter much.

"You will never go broke appealing to the lowest common denominator"

Truer words have never been spoken.

Isn't appealing to the lowest common denominator almost a for of socialism in a way.

like just the idea of it.....

* Your always then having to dumb something down for somebody.

Then somebody dumber comes along and wants it dumbed down even more and so on ect........

* I think what is happening is that The Main Stream Media have decided they are going to try and choose how people think instead of letting us think for ourselves.

Media is arrogant, they know they can create nothing but click bait BS and the sheep will follow.

SteamPowered1518d ago

Well the wealth divide has come along for any type of socialist regime. If anything, media has helped us lower the bar of intelligence.
Its a vicious cyle: Humans watch dumb things, media creates dumb things, Humans watch, media creates, pretty soon media as a whole is circling the drain and there isnt too many places left for smart ideas to go. As a result, we get a generation of dummies.

KwietStorm1518d ago

I wonder if Mister X is on the list.

Christopher1518d ago

I would, honestly, give up on the Internet all together if he was.

jackmamma1518d ago

I will never get pewdiepie, my kids watch him and other like shows but I find them lame and not insightful at all. I think I'm just too old. My first game system was an atari 2600

kurruptor1518d ago

Same. My nephew (like 17 at the time) would just watch him all day. I'm like what the hell are you doing?

jackmamma1518d ago

Did you see that Southpark where they make fun of all these youtubers? Priceless

GreenRanger1518d ago (Edited 1518d ago )

Funny how all these famous people got famous for using their mouths in different ways. Some for shouting, some for moaning, some for speaking, some for lip synching with auto-tune, and one for sucking.
