The Top 5 8th Generation Exclusive Games... So Far

The 8th generations of video game consoles are still in the early stages of their life cycle. The PS4 and Xbox One have only been out for a year and half, while the WiiU has been around for two and half. While the big hitters for a console don’t normally start coming out till year 3 and beyond for a console, there have been some great games released so far. With more exclusives on the horizon like Legend of Zelda, Halo 5, Bloodborne and many others. This list will definitely be changing before the year is up. Here is my list for the top 5 exclusives of this generation so far.

My favorites are
ori and the blind forest, Shadow of Mordor, sunset Overdrive, dying Light and Inquisition.
Shadow of Mordor probably at the top still for me.

We know the list is true because the majority of the media rated those games high. Disagrees are from people who don't know any better!

But I would replace that with The Wind Waker HD. The Last of Us Remastered is the top rated exclusive game so far. BLOODBORNE will definitely make the top 5, but Nintendo is still absolutely killing it on the game quality front.

Well seeing as the #1 spot on this list is a compilation of games from the 6th and 7th generation, I don't see how I could be wrong by listing 2 games from last-gen that are also 2 of the 5 top rated exclusives of the 8th gen.

I got more disagrees than agrees for listing the Top 5 rated exclusive games on Metacritic. How obtuse can people really be to disagree with that, other than the fact that they are bitter that my list is more based on measurable figures? Is it because there are no Xbox games on my list, just like there are no PlayStation games on the author's list?

Look through those stats. Take the top 5 rated exclusives. My list will still be accurate when you're done downvoting me for obtuse and bitter reasons. Bloodborne is out in a few hours, and I'm pretty sure it will knock Flower off the #5 spot.

So is Halo: Master chief collection. Two games being last gen and Two games being the gen before.

and Ori while being a great game is not exclusive to Xbox One.

Last Of Us should definitely be in the list. Looks closer to next gen than either of the above.

How can you have Halo Master Chief Collection and not TLOU and not be biased?? Thsi list is clearly wrote by somebody who doesn't own or has not played a PS4. Also Resogun should be on that list easily . Also Ori and the blind forest isn't exclusive so I feel he's just reaching at that point. I'm not saying PS4 is better here just this list is clearly biased yet it got approved, yet we will get N4G hates Xbox One..

Ori is available on both XB1 AND PC. I'm not counting it an exclusive in the strictest sense of the word. The Halo Collection is remarkable value for money, but no games featured a true 8th gen experience. Forza Horizon is good, if a bit dull - after a time. A list of top 5 EXCLUSIVE 8th gen games should really just be the Wii U's top 5 games, for example, Mario Kart 8, Bayonetta 2, SM3DW, Smash and Tropical Freeze. ALL strictly exclusive, ALL 8th gen titles i.e games simply not possible on 7th gen hardware.

Not possible on nintendo 7th gen hardware, maybe. An x360 or PS3 could run any of the games you just mentioned, easy.

Yep, horizon 2 still gets playtime and I've had it since launch.

If You get bored of it, you don't like racers. There's not a single racing game with more variety (flatout doesn't count, they are just awesome minigames!)

There is no way those games could run on a ps3 or 360... If this was the case then the retooled version of bayonetta wouldn't run at a smooth 60 fps on the wii u whereas its barely playable on the ps3. Clearly you know much about game development. (sarcasm)

Not being funny but what supermario game has detail approaching, the like of halo reach/H4 or even unchartered TLOU?

Maybe the "easy" part might have been a bit scathing, I dunno. I dont even want to say anything bad about the WiiU. I like nintendo.

I would also say that sony games generally push for more ambitious levels of IQ than nintendo games. Nintendo would rather keep a solid Framerate than realistic looking visuals. Its probably easier to get wiiU games that look like cartoons to 1080P/60FPS, than say, for naughty dog shooting for realistic foilage, lighting and overall post FX. Your comparison completely over looks these things.

And yet hardly anybody is buying them. Perhaps those said exclusives are less appealing to most people than say, halo, forza, bloodborne or uncharted? I can only go by sales on that one. Not saying those games are bad at all. I simply prefer what is on my xbox and PS4.

false. It does not run at a "smooth 60FPS" it actually does hover in the 50s. the X360 version hovers from the high 30- up to 60FPS. still a win for the WiiU. But hardly a clean kill:

Typical Sony 'fan boy' suffering from delusions of grandeur. With PS4 (of which I own) its always potential, future releases, NEVER the here and now, and the reason...Driveclub. Hardly a shining example of 8th gen games. Worse even. After the PS Plus u-turn and generic gameplay, its almost am example of everything wrong with this gen - Wii U barring.

All the games on this list are awesome anyone disagreeing is just dilussional.

Note: Halo MCC is on this list because of the value you get from the remaster. Does not matter if another remastered scored higher because no remastered in this or last generation offers the amount of content Halo has offered. Therefore making it an excellent choice. If any one feels different please name one remastered that offers Halo 1-4, Halo 2 Anniversary with new CGI, Spartan Ops Missions, 100 multiplayer maps, Halo Nightfall, 1000 achievements and Halo 5 beta.

It helped that Halo Adversary 2 can be considered a new release with those upgrades. The cutscenes graphics are some of the best I've seen on the Xbox One so far.

The cut scene graphics are videos not real time in engine graphics. None of the games in the Master Chief Collection look next gen. I just bought the Halo Master Chief Collection and am enjoying it very much, but I got better sense than to consider it next gen when the first three games don't look as good as the 4th game and even the forth game doesn't look next gen, looks really good but not next gen.

Don't know for the last two. Nintendo IPs just aren't my cup of tea so I can't say on those. And it's not an exclusive if it's on PC, I thought? Definitely not "8th generation exclusive" if it's on last generation consoles. I'm so confused in this day and age what "exclusive" means now.

it is confusing. some argue ori shouldn't be on the list but tlou should be? if exclusive truly means just one platform them both those games should be exempt. same with forza horizon 2.

I love Sunset Overdrive and I adore Shadow of Mordor too much for words. But then I can't forget Super Mario 3D World and Lego City: Undercover right alongside Pikmin 3 and Bayonetta 2. I imagine I'll be putting Arkham Knight and Halo 5 up on that list in another year too.
