Metro:
The biggest DLC expansion for Far Cry 4 introduces a new map and new enemies, but is it enough to make you want to return to Kyrat?
One of the prevailing theories about the next Far Cry is that Ubisoft will go with a more fantastical setting. Not just with the promised Blood Dragon-esque spin-off but the actual mainline Far Cry 5. There’s no real evidence that that’s what they’re considering, but the assumption is based on the fact that the series has already covered most of the more obvious settings (tropical island, African savannah, and snowy tundra) and there’s not many different kinds of wildernesses left that would be as distinctive.
Ben Salter of MMGN: Valley of the Yetis is fun from a gameplay standpoint, and adds a new dynamic through giant beasts not seen in the main game. The dedicated area explores the snowy Himalayas, which only got a brief look in the original story, but it’s exactly what DLC shouldn't be, and I’m concerned such an important developer doesn't understand its purpose – aside from making extra cash. It resets all skills and items, which is awful in its own right, only to make them considerably easier to re-earn, cheapening all effort spent playing the main game. I have to consider Valley of the Yetis to lessen, rather than improve, Far Cry 4. It’s not bad as an isolated experience, but if you’ve poured 40 hours into Far Cry 4 and loved every minute of it, do yourself a favour and don’t return to Kyrat.
Most outlets have this at 8/10. I personally feel this is harsh. I had fun and resets? wtf? didn't have that issue.
WGTC:
Poor Ajay Ghale didn’t know what he was getting himself into when he took a trip back to his family’s homeland of Kyrat after the death of his beloved mother in Far Cry 4. The same is also true of the game’s brand new side campaign, Valley of the Yetis. In fact, the change from positive to negative occurs even faster this time around, thanks to an abrupt and unexpected helicopter crash.
SA Gamer take a walk with some Yetis in the lastest DLC for Far Cry4 - Valley Of The Yetis. The previous DLC - Escape From Durgesh was pretty terrible, will this follow suit?
I loved this DLC, it reminded me a lot of Minecraft, By day you go about your business, but by night you have to be held up in your fort before you get attacked, very cool idea :)
