GameSkinny Review | DmC: Devil May Cry Definitive Edition is an Unneeded Re-Release

DmC: Devil May Cry is the last game that needs a re-release and yet Capcom believes that gamers have the memory span of a midterm voter. Like before, this could have been a good hack & slash if it didn't pretend to be a Devil May Cry game with an unlikable hero.

This is defiantly the one game that didn't need an HD release. Yet Capcom did it anyway rather than putting resources to something else like a real Devil May Cry game.

DarkOcelet3709d ago

For all we know, there could be a Devil May Cry 5 with Dante and Virgil against each other again which would be sick. Especially with current gen capabilities. Who know what amazing changes might happen.

Ok ...so I read this "review" ...
All I see him talk about is how much he hates the character...and the story. Says the hack and slash aspect is "generic" and lost its way.
Give it a 5.
my problem with this is he gave no real complaint that's not opinion.
like graphics...or frame rate...or glitches.
camera issues or controls....nothing about guns or collectibles. ..The weapons. ...just pure opinion.
I should start reviewing reviews because lately they haven't been reviews they've been opinion pieces. Smh I give this review a 1.
It failed to tell us anything other than he didn't like the new dante.
He didn't like the story.
that's it. No information about the game at all
1/100 score...He gets a 1 for typing.

We still don't know what next Itsuno project after dragon dogma

Don't count DMC 4 Remaster sure,he still handle/director remaster version but it look like side project for him than main project..

Roccetarius3708d ago

I don't see how that would be possible, considering what happened to Vergil. Unless he meets him in Hell or something.

fallacious3709d ago

It's "definitely", learn your words. If you're the reviewer then I'm appalled.

Wonderful1013709d ago

Your review is "defiantly" the unneeded one.

DEATHxTHExKIDx3709d ago

lol dont click this game is far from a 5. One of the funnest hack n slashes I have played this gen. DMC was never really serious about story telling this game takes a kool approach to it with Demon corporations and I enjoyed it.

Summons753708d ago

5 is pretty accurate. The story is dreadful and something a middle school kid would think of, the combat is very dull and waaaay to easy compared to the other DMC games and other games in it's genre. All this they did was polish a turd, in the end it's still a turd. DMC4 is going to blow this out of the water.

gameskinny. Who gives a f*** what they have to say.

Absolutely loving this game. Hated it's original version but the 60 fps, 1080p, enhanced controls, and alternate skins for Dante, it feels much closer to a "real" devil my cry game.

I have my Dante in his dmc 3 skin and am loving it.

So glad capcom rereleased this on ps4. This game definitely fills a void that's been missing in the console.

Can't wait for dmc4 remastered next :D

My personal score for the game would be a 8.5/10.

Great picture.

We need an HD collection for that.

DmC: Devil May Cry - So Good They Named it Twice

DmC: Devil May Cry launched 10 years ago to critical acclaim, but caused a significant stir amongst fans of the series.

SDuck845d ago

all in all, it was the 2nd most replayed by me (first being dmc5)

Godmars290845d ago

Named it twice cause they lacked imagination.

ApocalypseShadow844d ago

No matter how many times they try to push this game, I'll never play it.

But the PR keeps pushing it and pushing it when other DMC games are better and sold better.

TheLigX844d ago

Lol that’s absurd. You must be a real charmer.

Sgt_Slaughter844d ago (Edited 844d ago )

Ah we're at that point in time where failed games end up being needlessly defended and pushed as "underrated" or "gems"

There's a reason this caused Capcom to go back to the traditional DMC franchise.

DMC V became the top selling game in the series by a longshot. Even the team was more eager to make a new DMC game rather than try and continue the DmC reboot/spin-off and listened to fan input for V.

cue the puff pieces for Ninja Theory. Like what we saw happen with Deathloop and Tokyo, the MS marketing team is starting the hype machine early. So we see the revisionist history with their past games. Suddenly it's the best in the series lol. They've never made a bad game, they've just never made a successful one. Now, right or wrong because of the timing, their new game has the extra pressure of being the face of GP in 2022 alongside Starfield and Redfall. A lot of pressure for a studio that made its last game with 30 people. Let's hope 4th time's the charm

Looking Back to 2015 and DmC: Devil May Cry Definitive Edition

Daniel writes: "DmC on Xbox One may have disappointed many, but it also provided an entry point to a previously impenetrable series for newcomers."

It sold poorly it’s why we have DMC5 instead of DmC 2 and from what I’ve been seeing of that Anarchy Reigns clone from Team Ninja I think it was for the better.
