1 of 11 Football - First Person Multiplayer Game For Computer and Consoles

Arguably the most innovative American Football game to show up in the past 20 years, 1 of 11 Football is a game that is currently in development by +++Productions.

This football game is feature packed and allows up to full 11 on 11 multiplayer, on the fly custom play creation, first person, and plans of Oculus Rift and other VR device support.

They are currently running a Kickstarter for pre-orders and support of the project.

I've always wondered why they never had a first person mode in football games. I figured it would be cool once in a while to switch between views for a different perspective. Hopefully this, coupled with the new Joe Montana game, will force EA to keep drastically improving Madden.

iceman063740d ago

They actually HAVE had first person football. There was a really early one from EA in the 8o's (can't recall the name, but it was before Madden). Also, NFL2K (when it was ESPN NFL Football) had a first person mode in it's early years. This will be a first for a full roster multiplayer, at least from what I know.

Correct, ESPN NFL 2K5 had a first person mode, although you were stuck in that mode the entire game. What made it not that good, however, is that the traditional arcade football mechanics that every football game uses aren't suited for first person or even third person gameplay (look at Backbreaker).

Viryu3740d ago

What the? That's not football, you can't touch the ball with your hands in real football.

Psychotica3740d ago

Sure you can. It happens all the time. Even in soccer the goalie can touch the ball.

Khajiit863740d ago (Edited 3740d ago )

I just dont get why they call it Football, They only kick FG's and punts and 99% of everything else is toss and catch or carry.

I love both sports (Ravens and Red Devils) but the real FOOTball is where they use their feet 99% of the time.

Khajiit863740d ago

And it would suck if the goalie couldnt touch the ball with his hands, but not for this guy.

Psychotica3740d ago

Who knows..why isn't soccer called kickball? It would have made more sense since that's what they do the majority of the time. Why specify the foot, when the head and sometimes the hands are also used?

Psychotica3740d ago

It's hard to even get a few gamers to play as a team, try to get 11 on each side to do it would be a big achievement..

Vasto3740d ago

2K Football had the option of 1st Person. It even had the option of playing against a person's AI to get better at playing against them for when you acutally play the real person. Most people played Madden and don't know it. EA you still suck for what you did!

Khajiit863740d ago

We need some good sports games in 1st person, would love to see a bball game in first person view.

iceman063740d ago

An answer to your question about why it's called "football"...well because it is an evolved hybrid of Rugby Football and Association Football which came from Europe with the immigrants that came to America. (some say it looked more like Australian Rules Football). There was no passing (aside from laterals) more kicking. Then came the forward pass and the game became almost something of it's own...American Football.
Just a little history for you. I enjoy both sports as well...even played more traditional football (soccer) than American Football.
Oh...and first person basketball would be an interesting idea.

You never see anything close to these tech demos in actual game releases. More fluff than anything.

Playstati0n264d ago

How does it feel to not be in the sequel to your own franchise? Their virtue signal will cost them sales

Yi-Long266d ago

I think Unity exposed themselves last year, and IMO any developer should just stay away from them completely.

isarai266d ago

Exactly my thoughts, they killed so much interest in their engine since doing that. Godot looks like it's rising to take it's place as the indie darling game engine.

Palitera264d ago (Edited 264d ago )

In its current pace, Godot would need decades to reach Unity's current state. Almost no studios use it. For hobbyists, it's a valid option, though.
Gotta be real about it: Unity was and will continue as the market leader for small studios. There's no competition in this sense.

Palitera264d ago

The thing is: there's nothing even remotely as good as Unity for small studios game development, even if you consider the company's disgraced trust.

So, sure, it's your opinion, but most professionals have not and will not leave Unity.

And Godot is a hobby project in comparison, not even an option.

victorMaje264d ago (Edited 264d ago )

The thing is: this is the kind of comment Unity was getting when it was up and coming.
I remember when I started learning Unity it was looked at with disregard, this is where Godot is now, remember this, in a few years, Godot will get there.

plmkoh263d ago

@victorMaje

I hope you realize how ridiculous your comments sounds when you suggest "Waiting for Godot" is an option.

It made me chuckle for a good 20 seconds.

victorMaje263d ago

@plmkoh

Haha I’m not suggesting to wait for it. I’m saying with all the updates (each one better than the previous one) Godot will get where it needs to, to be considered more than just a hobby engine.
In fact it can already do a lot, it’s all about how you approach the problem.

Palitera263d ago

PlayCanvas, Babylon, Defold, Cocos Creator etc.
This generic statement of "it's not as great as Unity YET" could be applied to any other engine (no offense to these mentioned great engines).

The fact is: it is a hobby engine, almost no studio is using it. As much as I'd like to see Unity fall, it's not happening at all. There's simply no competitor.

Hmm.
They may just remain a company after all. They lost a lot of good faith with all this, however.
