Nordschleife Comparison: Assetto Corsa, Forza 5, GT6 & Project CARS

Now here’s a fun comparison video, it compares the famous Nurburgring Nordschleife in four games: Assetto Corsa, Forza Motorsport 5, Gran Turismo 6 and Project CARS (build 953).

In all videos the car tackling the “green hell” is the Pagani Huayra. There’s a real mix here, a Playstation exclusive, an Xbox exclusive, a PC racing sim and a multi-platform game.

... and the time it was/is released. Obviously, the newer games look better, due to better specs, and perhaps some differences in lighting/time of day, etc etc.

To be honest though, most 'real life' tracks are pretty boring to me, and I prefer fictional tracks which are designed specifically to be as fun and gorgeous as possible to race on.

In Forza, I thought tracks like Maple Valley and Burnese Alps and other fictional tracks were much more interesting than the real life ones.

The_KELRaTH3711d ago

Agreed, used to love the fictional tracks in Race Driver 2 & 3 and why I was so looking forward to GT6 with a full track editor (that never materialized!).

TeamVVV3711d ago

Yeah I love Gran Turismo's fictional tracks :)

GT6 looks fantastic on nearly 9 year old hardware - damn. Cannot wait for GT7. Loved this video.

The_KELRaTH3711d ago

Project cars audio is just in a different league!

kneon3711d ago

It sounds the least realistic of the four. It should sound like it would when you're inside the car with a helmet on, not as if you're hanging off the rear bumper.

The_KELRaTH3711d ago

I do understand where you're coming from but then it should still sound rough and booming but muffled.

But this is where realism and fun don't mix well

urwifeminder3711d ago (Edited 3711d ago )

Nice Assetto and Project cars are my next pc games will wait for next steam sale though.

RumbleFish3711d ago (Edited 3711d ago )

@urwifeminder: Try to find somebody who lets you test both of the sims. They are very different and for me there is a clear winner among them.

moustick3711d ago

I have to say, they did a bloody good job at porting the track for Forza 5, both the vegetation and track surface are top notch.

Forza 5 feels like its floating in air. No driving physics what so ever! the "definitive" sim racer. What a joke.

Plus: I don't know why they are comparing Forza to those simulators. Forza is not even a sim racing game, its has Permanent Driving Aid - Active Steering which you ca NOT turn off (even if you turn them off in the menu option they are still on) and they are still present in FM5. SO this basically makes it not a Simulator.
Example here: https://www.youtube.com/wat...

Elit3Nick3711d ago

You're the only joke I see here, the physics aren't floaty like they were in FM4, you get a real feel of grip, which is amplified the X1 controller's haptic feedback. The driving aid problem has been completely eliminated after FM4, if you drive something like the Caterham R500 on simulation with a controller, it'll be a nightmare because the front tires will lose traction from turning too fast.

pandehz3711d ago (Edited 3711d ago )

Lol you dont know anything

None of these games are actual driving sims in any way.
They emulate them but yet aplly gameplay mechanics so ppl can actually play them in the game worlds camera. Our human eyes dont see the way we see a road in a game world so similarly the racers arent even remotely accurate to actual cars.

Forza has some incredible physics and even Forza Horizon 2 allows you to unlock it all in the settings. Ive played numerous racing games and will say once again Forza is a brilliant racer if not one of the best out there.

Also you just posted a video link to Forza 3. Also like Elit3Nick says, the xbox one controllers new haptic feedback system makes the game that little extra immersive. Also on shooters or pretty much any game.

Cool.
Add PSVR2 support to ACC and I might play it.

ApocalypseShadow787d ago

Same. Good sales. But if they are smart, they'll release a VR update on console for PS VR 2. Get more sales. More money.

TheColbertinator787d ago

Impressive series and well known for being challenging

ChiefofLoliPolice787d ago

Jesus really? Damn I didn't know Assetto Corsa was that popular. Now that I look at the sales numbers and the sheer about of mods for the PC version I guess I can see it now.

Obscure_Observer787d ago

Really impressive numbers.

There´re more racing simulators fans out there than most racing games studios acknowledges.

Father__Merrin787d ago (Edited 787d ago )

Wish AC1 was at least one X enhanced but it's only sold a lot because of its price
