Yah, was hoping for a sequel. Too bad they wasted all the money they got from the game and Rhode Island on the failed MMO.

How can a MMO fail when it hasn't even launched yet? Besides that, KoA was leading up to when the MMO happened. I think KoA was a great game, but the main quest just felt meh. I wish they had involved the main characters more as well, maybe even as companions to follow you.

Because they kept spending all their money on it and had nothing to show for it. The announcements for it kept getting pushed back and back. They were supposed to show it off the year it was canned at GDC I think, then pushed back to E3, then pushed back again, and then cancelled.

KOA actually made them money, which they then spent all on the MMO...

It's sad that this IP never got brought by anyone or sold enough to make an profit.

Plus not to mention what happen to the team.

I wish this game got some dlc to raise the level cap.

I've had that game for about a year now and sadly still haven't touched it. Always wanted to try it out but never found the time for it. And now that Bloodborne is coming out I don't see myself starting it anytime soon. It sure does look interessting though and I like the combat system they used. The combat always was one of my main concerns with The Elder Scrolls so this might be a great game for me.

I'm apparently supposed to loathe this game as a Rhode Islander... but I freakin' loved it. I was almost overwhelmed with how many quests and such I had to do.

Agreed. It was okay, but could have been designed a lot better. It was rated exactly where it should be, if you ask me.

I agree. I liked the combat system very much, but the game was a bit repetitive. I was hoping a sequel would would have built on a promising new title.

It was a great game. Too bad Schilling went bankrupt and caused the company to crash and burn.

It was good, but if you explored the world instead of only following the main quest, you would soon be overleveled and the challenge would be gone, since every area had a level cap on its enemies. It's the main reason why I stopped playing it. So many areas to go, but it wasn't challenging and fun anymore.

I played it right after demon's souls

Only got to about lvl 15

The gameplay is pretty solid...

But i just couldd't after the Miyazaki Masterpiece

I liked Kingdoms of Amalur.. It's a shame they spent/borrowed all that money to get all that talent and then went bankrupt..

If only Curt Schilling was smarter financially..

I stopped playing when I got the DLC and you couldn't go back once you traveled to it.. I think it was called Dead Kell or something like that. I also was buying damn near every new release back then.

They wasted what money they earned from the game and the rest of what they got from RI on that failed MMO. If they just used it towards a sequel they would have been fine (KOA did make them money).

You CAN fast travel back, but only after you've finished the main missions in the DLC, which should take around 3 hours.

From what I understand KoA was actually supposed to be a big multiplayer style open world adventure, and the studio was actually on track to deliver, but when the state of RI learned how much it was costing them, the ordered that the team put something out in a year and they had to recycle assets into a single player game.

For what it was KoA was outstanding, probably one of the few original high-fantasy universes in the last few years I actually liked.

Fantastic game, I can't remember how many times I replayed it, shame we'll never see a sequel. Only thing that pissed me off truly was I never completely any unique armor set.

It had flaws but I really liked KoA, shame we will not see a sequel that could correct those flaws and build on a solid foundation.

I love this game. The only main issue I had was that it missed a chest to transfer equipment to other characters. The randomness on equipment drop made completing a unique set of armor seem more difficult than completing Battletoads with no controller. It's too bad what happened to the studios. Curt Shilling had a great game vision... just needed some better financial advice.

I maxed out the mage skilltree barely 10 hours in, and simply lost interest. This game is simply TOO big!

This game was one of my favorites when it came out. I enjoyed every minute of it. Maybe the franchise can come back from the dead one day. EA should have done more for them, I know they were just the publishers, but they could have bid on the IP.

This game is not under rated. While the combat was fantastic the questing was soul-less and MMO like. Had they managed to realize their vision this game would've been an excellent MMO.

Great game with fantastic game play mechanics for an action RPG. My only criticism is that the difficulty level, even when played on the hard difficulty level, was a little too forgiving. That said, I appreciated the fact that it was a single player game as I am not interested in MMOs. I rate it and 8.5/10.

Completely agreed. Few games give you as much content for your buck as KOA, and the expansions are all awesome with loads of content. The crafting system and classes and perks made for some very awesome combinations, and the combat is vsry fun. I hope everyone who was involved with the game went on to greater things, cause it'd be a goddamn shame if they did not get more work after such a fantastic game.

You can get the game for dirt cheap on PSN, XBox Live or Steam. It was one of PS Plus's free games a little while back, that's when I got it, and it hasn't left my PS3 since.
