Playstation 4 and Xbox One Availability A Matter Of Geography And Luck

While the Xbox One system is usually easy to find in most markets some still have issues locating the PS4 system. As such, Skewed and Reviewed have posted an opinion piece that says the availability of your desired console has as much to do with geography and luck for some consumers and that online ordering still remains the best option for some to obtain a PS4 or a bundle.

The story is too old to be commented.

Supply and demand. Going over that in Economics class right now.

Where I live, the PS4, X1, WiiU, 3DS or Vita are readily available in any appliance store. No shortages over here.

What's in shortage is the money to purchase them...

Only console I've seen in a shortage since the wii/360 was the new 3ds. Always been easy to find stock of everything else!

This article is a year too late, I think. When the consoles were new, people were saying "I can't find the PS4 anywhere but there are plenty of XBox Ones available." At the time, this wasn't the case in my city. Every time I went shopping, there were always PS4s available and no Xbox Ones.

No Xbox ones because they were all sold out

I wanted a PS4 at launch, didnt get 1, Every time I went into a store that has game consoles, I looked for a PS4. They never had PS4's but had like 5 X1's. I ended up getting 1 in late Feb 2014 and having to wait in front of best buy in the morning to get a PS4.

I waited for three hours in front of Best Buy, getting there at 7 in the morning to ensure that I would get a PS4. They told me that they had a shipment coming and to make sure to get there early to ensure that I got one. I figured they'd only get a few of them in, but they got 17 of them and only 14 people were in line. I had to take a crap so badly for the last two hours and hated it once I was let in the store and realized that I could've left the line to go to the bathroom without missing out on one.

Not here, I can find piles of Xbox One units everywhere with very few PS4 units anywhere.
That image was from a Costco in Chandler, AZ on Sat. Tons of Xbox One units there, always, PS4 units are gone within 48 hours when a shipment arrives. So as the article says, geography plays a big part.

I guess you may not want to say where you are, but that's not what I saw at all so I'm curious.

I've never seen a store without available XB1s, but if I go into a Fry's or Best Buy there's still a chance they'll be out of PS4s.

I admit, my comment wasn't clear. I did not mean that there were an abundance of PS4s. There were a couple of stores that I went to when I was looking for an XBO for my nephew. They would have 1-3 PS4s but would never have any XBOs. The tellers would tell me that they get very few and were gone as soon as they came in.

Of course I am speaking of early 2014.

Basically. Glad I got an Xbox One last fall on sale. Gonna hopefully last me a good long while this generation.

Where I work we have a ton of both and they sell pretty evenly. The ps4 case is especially full because of how slim it is we just pack them In there. This past holiday season we had shortages on the Xbox one and plenty of Destiny bundles for ps4. They should have had more plain bundles available because a lot of people who wanted one didn't want Destiny and to pay the extra 49 for it.
