Sony's Yoshida: PSN Is Attacked By Hackers Every Day

Game Informer - The holiday joy of unwrapping a new console was ruined for many when Microsoft and Sony were hit with crippling attacks that downed both Xbox Live and PlayStation Network just as players were trying to download updates or jump online with friends. For the most part, PSN works fine for me. I can play Multiplayer with my friends with no issues, and I can find anything I want on the store. That's all that matters. It sucks they have to be attacked everyday by scums to try to ruin it for everyone. That Christmas DDoS was really bad and was nothing to be proud or make fun of.

It's time to farm some servers as well and improve security. Hopefully that article wasn't kidding about the 3 gaming gods working together to avoid another DDoS or hack. stupid hackers!

So true everything you said, especially the part about ruining Christmas for a lot of people -- yeah that is truly something to be proud of /s. They are truly scum of the earth.

Sony should invest in making their network among the strongest and soundest in the world. It will probably take hundreds of millions but maybe they can do it. With all the new people coming online combined with the existing user base, it has to be a whale of a job to manage globally.

DDos attack is NOT A HACK ATTACK! It is difficult to defend from it!

Quote from Yoshida :

"We have a partner company we work with, and we always update the new ways the attacker might deploy, so it is a constant battle."

I can't believe there's people out there that have nothing better to do, than constantly attack PSN, or Xbox Live

One has to wonder what could have been done if those guys ran [email protected] on their PCs instead of DDoS software.

even bitcoins would be a better use of their time

ginsunuva2769d ago

Well they just set a program with a timer to automatically DDOS for them using their always-on botnet.

So they can sit around and not do anything while it auto-attacks at set intervals.

Networks are constantly being bombarded with attacks and attempted breaches all the time. As long as networks encrypt their data and monitor server traffic, companies should be able to mitigate the impact of cyber crime.
