Grab It Magazine has the details on the upcoming micro adventure game The Darkside Detective, including offering its thoughts on the free to play demo.
Humor within dialogue contributes a great deal towards the overall appeal and makes the need to click every item a joy. Meta jokes and pop culture references are also heavily present, from McQueen’s self-aware comment that the game couldn’t afford running animations, to talks of a certain marshmallow man. All of this contributes to gameplay that is extremely rewarding, the variation in puzzles and locations coupling with excellent dialogue, resulting in an enjoyable experience throughout.
Wiehahn Diederichs writes: "Darkside Detective is a point-and-click adventure game developed by the Ireland-based five-man indie studio, Spooky Doorway. Although it is the first title to come from the new indie studio, the team boasts an impressive collective experience, sporting the likes of artist Paul Conway, who worked on franchises such as The Sims and composer Ben Prunty, best known for his work on FTL: Faster Than Light."
The Darkside Detective brings solid humor, and more importantly, LOGICAL puzzles to supernatural buddy cop pointing-and-clicking.
