"After Battle of Z, Dragon Ball Xenoverse had no right to be worth your time, and it certainly has no right to be as enjoyable as it is."
We still don't know if Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 is a thing, but if it is, here is what Josh hopes to see in the new game.
Why Dragon Ball Xenoverse is a big deal and whether it lives up to the hype. A few light, early-game spoilers.
Many video games feature a character creation system, but which ones are the best? We will try to narrow down the ten best character creation systems currently available.
APB had a pretty sweet character creator and that’s not mentioned. I agree with xenoverse and dragon’s dogma. The Bethesda games kinda suck in this regard imo.
Forza’s layering system is the best character creator out there. Everytime I go to place tattoos on some elf’s face I think about how much better Forza could do it.
Looks like just what I'd expect from a Dragonball game, it looks like.
I would have given it a 3/5 for the following problems.
The game does not come with a training mode which makes players who are not familiar with the tenkaichi battle system like myself have a hard time adapting and because of this I had a very hard time passing the powered up saibamen in the early part of the game. Like the tenkaichi series, it does not have a good tutorial like Budokai 3 and expects you to remember the entire move set at once then throws you into a battle to fend for yourself.
Other things that got in the way of my enjoyment are the terrible AI partners that rarely lifts a finger to help you when you need a hand.
Also enemies sometimes do not play by the same rules as you and you notice this when you have to fight enemies with some incredibly high super armor with the worst offenders being the Gods.
It doesn't help that you are not able to see your opponent's Ki and stamina gauge which sometimes leads me to believe that maybe its unlimited(this becomes obvious when they can transform and maintain that form for the duration of the fight without fatigue).
The scouter mechanic was really good except for the fact that you cannot see the actual power levels of your opponent and allies which takes me out of it sometimes but it does do a good job of locating hidden items and gateways.
I Also hate the fact that the game does a poor job of explaining what each status attribute does and how they affect your character which could cause you to mess up your build during your first play through and the only way to remedy this is by deleting your character, beating the game and starting a new one or summoning the dragon.
Even though the game is great as it is right now with me planing on playing for only 30 mins but after I check the time, I quickly realized that 2-3 hours has already gone by when it just felt like I was playing for 15 mins. If those issues weren't present the game would have been near perfect and would have been the best DBZ game ever made.
