Sony Providing 'Key Lessons for Artists Working with VR' at GDC 2015

VRFocus- It's been known for a while now that Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) will be heading to the 2015 Game Developers Conference (GDC) with its Project Morpheus virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD) in tow. The company confirmed as much in January when it listed a talk that will provide 'an update' on the kit on GDC's Session Scheduler. The company isn't restricting its VR sharing to one single talk, however. A new session, recently revealed on the schedule, is set to address videogame artists working in VR.

I still have huge reservations towards all the VR stuff and Hololense to take off for gaming.

Pandamobile3446d ago

Just wait til you actually try it. It's gonna be absolutely everywhere in 5 years.

OrangePowerz3446d ago (Edited 3446d ago )

I used the latest Rift for quite some time in short intervals. It looks interesting and for stuff like racing games it's cool. Combined with a proper racing setup it's a real blast, I get motion sick from it and I don't get motion sick from anything else so for me it's out of the equation unless they can do something with the device to reduce the effects of it.

Besides of the motion sickness problem I can't imagine anybody besides of core gamers to run around with a HMD. After all we talk about a group of people who don't even want to put glasses on for 3D.

Pandamobile3446d ago

That's because 3D sucked. Especially on consoles. It's not even really a valid comparison because of how many leagues apart VR is from 3D.

We're talking about a device that fundamentally changes how games are experienced. Motion sickness will eventually be a non-issue except in extreme cases.

WizzroSupreme3446d ago

Think that I'm getting tired of waiting for VR to transform gaming. I want it now.

For those that would like to take a step into VR and take it for a spin, well take a look at Google Cardboard..that's right you can build your own VR unit for cheap, by using an existing Smartphone!

Check it out:

https://www.google.com/get/...

Also Vanguard V is also being made for the PS4

Also VR break out is pretty righteous if I do say so myself.

Also you can gather App's and Games to use with Google cardboard.

This one is quite a bit more expensive , but its pretty good for the price and is solid built.

Same idea as Google cardboard, but plastic built with rubble seats for the nose and a space open below to offset motion sickness!

Does this mean that Palworld is getting an anime?

Abnor_Mal16d ago

Crazy that they’ve formed a partnership of sorts, but the game itself still haven’t been released on PlayStation

badz14916d ago

It's still in Early Access. If it ever goes gold, there will definitely be a PS5 version, might even be a PS4 version too

Abnor_Mal16d ago

I still have no clue what this game is all about, to be honest.

badz14916d ago

@Abnor_Mal

If games like ARK is not to your liking, then Palworld wouldn't be your cup of tea either...I think.

New Sony Controller May Let You Draw Your Own Buttons Using Conductive Ink

Sony has published a new patent about a controller that can be completely personalized by a user, including its shape and layout.

TFJWM30d ago

It is just a patent if it is new tech you file it

S2Killinit30d ago (Edited 30d ago )

Dont get me wrong, I love that Sony does these research into new tech and all, after all it led to something as fun as the Dualsense, but im just asking why this particular tech would be useful in any way.

Profchaos30d ago (Edited 30d ago )

Interesting idea likely something that will never actually be produced but Sony's simply securing the paten

Profchaos30d ago

Common practice really so many companies pattern troll because they either intend to make a product or just want to hold onto the rights of the idea there's some insane ones out there especially at the dawn of the internet.

You can have no intent to use it but this is just saying you thought of it first

kylegeorge8830d ago

yeah no, the controllers need the hall effect before investing more time and money into quirks.

BlackDoomAx30d ago

But how will they sell as many controllers if they do that?

fsfsxii30d ago

Maybe consider your personal hygiene before blaming someone else for your controller defecting

DustMan30d ago

I doubt @FSFSXII even knows what hall effect is. What a turd.

y2mate30d ago

great idea, but will it fully distributed to other continent ?
