Aonuma Says Next Zelda Remake Might be Based on Fan Demand

ZI:
If there is one element that I love about Nintendo, it's that they listen to their fans. Legend of Zelda boss Eiji Aonuma recently told us in an interview by GameSpot that the next remake could be largely influenced by what the fans want.

He said Nintendo has always paid attention to what fans expect from them. Aonuma was excited to work on Majora's Mask 3D to begin with, but was also enthused with all the support from fans who didn't even know if the project was even happening, he said.

I guess we can thank the fans and organizations such as Operation Moonfall for this wondrous 3D remake!

Twilight Princess HD for Wii U or Skyward Sword HD for Wii U.

I wouldn't mind seeing 3DS remakes of the Original TLoZ or Zelda II.

I'm all for Twilight Princess... Skyward Sword was the only Zelda game that never really pulled me in. I'm not sure why... :[

vishmarx3214d ago

they need to bring magic spells back, i dont care what they remake.i miss those so much from the 2d ones
and make it cel shaded, everything else ages horribly.

bouzebbal3214d ago

Skyward is a great game with sick graphics and set ups.
The world isn't big but the game is amazing and motion control work well most of the time.
I dont think Twilight Princess will get a remake yet because it just came out last gen on Gamecube and Wii.

I would like a Full scale Spirit Tracks, Phantom Hourglass or even Minish Cap for Wii U. They were amazing games with their own personality.

The remake i would love the most is A Link to The Past <3 <3

Snookies123214d ago (Edited 3214d ago )

I think my issue with Skyward Sword is that I was expecting a world map at least somewhat comparable to Windwaker... I wanted a huge sky to explore, much like I had done with the sea.

@abzdiine - Link to the Past was my favorite Zelda game. With that said, I think it benefits greatly from its art style and presentation. I don't think it needs a remake. It's perfect the way it is. Unless they decided to completely re-imagine it in full 3D, I say leave it as is. It's not a game that really warrants a remake as much as something like FF7 which has some hideous character models and poor 3D models compared to today's stuff. (I'll add that I absolutely adore FF7, and have played it through multiple times. It just didn't age well at all.) That's the beauty of pixel graphics. They retain their charm without looking ugly down the road.

There's a 99% probability that I can answer exactly why you felt that way, Master. *raises one eyebrow tellingly*

forget that Legend of zelda 2 remake

pcz3214d ago

i think most people wanted a hd update of majoras mask. that would have been amazing. but nintendo chose to do it in 3d for the 3ds. yeh, the game is great, but i think it would have benefited more from a true next gen update

Only played to the Water Dungeon on this game...or actually right before it.

Is that about 50% through ?

It's my least favorite of the 3D LoZ games so far, but I did really like certain parts of it.

I wasn't crazy about the dungeons or that your first experience seeing an area was in black and white, and you had to find those things....AND THEN you could see the village or town normally.

* I want my first experience walking into a town or area to be memorable, not bland and lifeless..

That stuck with me throughout the experience of Twilight Princess.....that which I played.

I love that I have yet to experience it all though so at least some of it will be fresh, + it will look better.

NO Motion Controls would be HUGE!

I want Link's Awakening or Oracle of Ages but I think I have no luck for those 2 games...

Double_O_Revan3214d ago

I'd also go with Links Awakening. That could be great.

Metallox3214d ago

Hopefully demand doesn't want another re-release. We want new content, right guys?

MrSwankSinatra3214d ago (Edited 3214d ago )

Why not both?

Metallox3214d ago

And paying twice for the games? No, thanks. These titles have already made their duty in their time.

And making of "remakes" the biggest releases from Nintendo? It's already happening with Nintendo 3DS, anyway, Pokémon, Majora's Mask and Xenoblade re-releases in less than six months, that's hilarious.

And still paying for these things when we have the Virtual Console? I'd rather pay 15 dollars for the N64 release on Wii U than paying 43 dollars for a "remake" with barely any improvement.

MrSwankSinatra3214d ago (Edited 3214d ago )

You do realize that nobody is forcing you to buy these titles correct? Just because you don't want them doesn't mean others don't. I never really asked for a TLoU remaster, but we got one anyways. I didn't go around complaining about how "I" never asked for one. I just didn't buy it, a pretty simple action. These companies aren't just interested in what only "YOU" want. There are millions of others who wouldn't mind have a remaster or remake of certain games. Why should they be penalized just because "YOU" don't want it?

Metallox3214d ago

"You do realize that nobody is forcing you to buy these titles correct?"

Correct.

But does that mean that I agree with your commercial habits? Absolutely not.

randomass1713214d ago

I agree with MrSwank because remasters don't necessarily cut into development with new games. They tend to get outsourced to newer developers and if you don't want an older game you don't have to get it and just focus on the newer games.

Kryptix3214d ago (Edited 3214d ago )

There already is a new Zelda coming out for the Wii U this year.

Not only that, but even though it wasn't created by one of the main teams, Hyrule Warriors also came out which is still new Zelda content.

How about we have both since it's not really hurting anyone. If you don't like re-releases then fine, just wait for something completely new... It's not like all of the teams are only working on re-releases. And it's nice to have the option of being able to play some old favorites with better graphics, sound and extras that weren't in the original.

On topic, I would love to see Twilight Princess get a remake. Imagine all the better lighting to suit the darker tone that the game had. Not only that, but also imagine the bigger fights using the Wii U hardware and adding crazy weather effects.

pcz3214d ago

you know what i think would be amazing, a majoras mask style remake of skyward sword. so set it in the skyward sword universe, but a dark alternate version, just how majoras mask was a dark mirror to ocarina of time.

now that would be interesting.
