Dying Light Review - Beware of the Night and Play With Friends | TerminalGamer

TG writes: We just spent a week in Harran battling zombies, crafting weapons, and slicing and dicing both day and night in developer Techland's Dying Light. Is this game a standout from the other Zombie games on the market, or is it just another dead tale of woe?

Deep Silver should have let Techland do Dead Island 2.

TekKing3730d ago

Why? People wouldn't have bought it even if it was the exact same game as Dying Light (and technically it is). People don't hate the gameplay, they only hate the title. Dying Light is just a Dead Island clone with worse combat (no analog limb specific hits), terrible parkour, and the same glitches as the last Dead Island games) and yet people like it because the game doesn't have "Dead Island" in the title.

These are the same people that think FFXV won't be like FFXIII despite the game being downgraded to the point where it's basically yet another FFXIII.

About your comment about your poor aim...sadness for you. This game allows you to EASILY cleave whatever extremity from the undead per your choosing. It doesn't sound as if you've even played this game. I'm 60 hours in and not even halfway done. Extremely fun and rewarding. Technically it couldn't be less reminiscent of Dead Island which I got tired of quickly. A bargain at any price for the length and fun factor.

tekking -you are wrong on dying light. and you can target lopping off heads, arms, legs or cut people in half if you are looking at the area you want to target and have a very powerful melee weapon.

What's the gap between the new gen and the old gen for this one?

(I'm always just curious to watch the evolution ^_^)

Techland learned a lot from the DI franchise and Dying Light is proof of that. Where DI would stutter and drop, DL is smooth and flawless. It's like going from DVD to Blu-ray

This game surprised me immensely.

I didn't expect a game so polished.

I think its different cause the parkour adds more of a escape then fighting although fighting is fun i thinks its better to jump from rooftops running away from zombies to be more fun.

Looking Back At The $386,000 Dying Light 'My Apocalypse Edition', 10 Years Later

Nobody bought it for an obvious reason.

Gamingsince198163d ago

Wtf did this edition come with ? A real helicopter and a real zombie virus ?

Vithar63d ago

For one lucky person willing to spend $386,000, the My Apocalypse Edition of Dying Light promised a staggering collection. It included the buyer’s face in the game, a human-sized ‘Volatile’ statue, and parkour lessons with a freerunning team. It also came with night vision goggles, an all-expenses paid round trip to Techland’s offices, and four signed copies of the game. Oh, and it also came with a custom-built, ‘zombie-proof’ survival shelter.

LOL but it was a stunt from the team:
‘It was a PR stunt and got a lot of media attention for its wild and over-the-top nature, it was designed to generate buzz around the game’s release. It did a great job of getting the game noticed, though! But nobody purchased it – thankfully, I guess!’

I finally beat DL2 this past weekend. I’ll pick up the Beast for sure.

It got a lot of shit from fans more not being as scary at night on release. I was in that boat. But once I gave it a fair shot I really loved it. The movement was so much more expressive to me. I enjoyed the story too.... for the most part. Was my game of the year when it came out. With all the updates for darker nights and all that, it's even better. I feel almost exactly the same about stalker 2 right now. The erojank games are scratching my itch.
