Silicon Studio's Advanced Engine "Mizuchi" Will be Shown on PS4 For the First Time at GDC

The Japanese developer Silicon Studio, which you probably know for Bravely Default, announced with a press release that it will showcase its new rendering engine "Mizuchi" at GDC 2015, held in San Francisco between March 2nd and March 6th.

What's even more interesting, is that the developer will show for the first time the engine running in real-time on PS4.

I really hope its running close to that beautiful 'Museum' demo we saw. And hopefully more devs use the engine because it looks so damn good.

I've seen it with my very eyes. They had to point out the differences to me, and visually they're minimal. Besides the 30 FPS vs 60, it was basically the same thing. It had a bit of screen tearing back then, but it was rare and they were working to eliminate it.

Only funny thing? Being a rendering engine, and not a full game engine, it has no physics or collisions, so I could pass through walls and clip into the bookcases.

I told em they should just release it on the PSN, because playing with it and exploring the museum was fun :D

They didn't even seem to think it was a bad idea.

I remember the article you wrote on it.

Even if the PS4 only achieved half the fidelity at 30FPS, it would look remarkable. The engine is amazing.

A demo of the engine released on PSN?

I would love to try that.

:)

I think more devs should do that to show off their engines. Just like Kojima did with P.T. Not only did he show off the amazing realistic lighting of the engine but he showed of a teaser to a game that made people crazy about it.

The guy's ideas are so ahead of its time.

I agree with all your comments...

TBH it's Japanese Games/Anime/Creators that are the whole reason I even got into Gaming. I'm a Sega/Nintendo Baby, I used to watch my Dad play Secret of Mana (Super Nintendo) when I was 6 years old. Back then it looked like Heaven on a TV Screen :D

I would totally love to live in Tokyo, Japan ...Great Culture, Lowest Crime Rate, Awesome Fashion. They're some of the Coolest people on Earth. Can't wait to see Silicon Studios new Engine running on PS4! Plus, Bravely Default was the most played game on my 3DS ;)

That is so beautiful. That old camera the robot picks up, though. Oo Can you imagine entire games maintaining that level of graphical fidelity?! I'd like to see some games be born out of some of these awesome tech demos that we have seen over the past few years like the Samaritan, Dark Sorceror and Infiltrator demos.

Mizuchi Review: Love With a Question Mark - KeenGamer

KeenGamer: "Love comes in all forms. With Mizuchi, the latest visual novel inspired by the Legend of the White Snake, that love doesn't feel quite as resolute. Through a commitment to exploring human behavior from an objective point, this oft-simplified feeling is given more than what general media embellishes."

Silicon Studio’s Advanced New Rendering Engine “Mizuchi” Already Working on PS4 on a Game

In the past year or so, you heard about the advanced rendering engine by Bravely Default developer Silicon Studio named “Mizuchi,” but before you have seen it run only in a rather spectacular tech demo.

Turns out that it's already working on PS4 on an actual game.

nice... PS4 gives the feel that is more a mixture of Dreamcast with PS2 ...the support it gets from multiple Japanese devs (known and less known) with their tendency to develop colorful and bright games because its easy to develop nature, shows similarities with both consoles
