I want to know what game testers get paid for these day.

OrangePowerz3790d ago

A lot of the issues in the article seem to be due to drivers and so on. That wouldn't really be the fault of the testers since the game should work with recent drivers. Can't expect the devs to have their game optimized to work with drivers that 6 months old or older.

Some of them get minimum wage to make video game characters walk into walls for 12 hours a day. It's crappy, low wage, non-guaranteed work.

And like OrangePowerz said, this is more technical stuff.

ziggurcat3790d ago

as a former tester, they get paid to break the games they're working on.

the problem isn't the testers, it's the devs. devs will often close bugs, and not fix them because they claim that:

a) there's not enough time.

or

b) its overall impact on the user's experience isn't high enough for them to feel like fixing the problem.

so never blame QA because QA doesn't fix bugs, they just report them, and make sure the bugs the devs actually *do* fix are actually fixed.

i can pretty much guarantee that the bugs people see in games post-release have 100%, without a shadow of a doubt, been reported by QA.

I played all the way through this game on PC and there wasn't a single issue. On max settings as well.

Clunkyd3790d ago

Thats not going to help people who are having issues...

ClassyNfancy3788d ago

My main issue is the voices repeating and echoing and stuttering

I wish it had been more influential within it's own franchise, other than the first game it's been one terrible game after another, at this point it looks like they had a stroke of luck and nothing else. Also, most of what LiS does had already been done on Telltale games about your actions having consequences in the development of the story, the best part was the time manipulation gameplay, that was fantastic, but again it's not too dissimilar of Prince of Persia time manipulation on the original trilogy.

It was, but walking sims aren't as big now.

porkChop133d ago

Is this a joke? LiS wasn't a bad game but it didn't really do anything that Telltale hadn't already done before it. And to insinuate that without LiS we wouldn't have gotten Disco Elysium, Baldur's Gate 3, etc, is just ridiculous. I get it, you love the game and that's fine, but don't make it out to be more important than it is. I'm not saying it didn't influence anything at all, it just wasn't remotely to the degree the author is insinuating.

No one at Larian played LIS, they're too busy playing DnD and dueling with fake swords in their sparetime

the og ?

maybe for the time when it came out. but not cause of the possible lesbian romance.

CrimsonWing69133d ago
