A look as to whether or not Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster is worth buying on PS4.
I'm sure it might be worth it for those who haven't played it but I just picked up the PS3 version for $10 and I'm sure SE will charge full price for it
for those who went from 360 to PS4 yes it's a must have. if you have it on PS3 there is no point of having it, unless you are a trophy nerd.
Good point, I didn't realize it was a PlayStation exclusive.
About the price it was for PS2- http://www.gamestop.com/ps4... I got the special case one for PS3, but I kind of want it for PS4 and the price isn't to bad.
I was always intending to buy the HD version but never got around to it. Now I'm just going to wait to get it for PS4 which will also allow me to remote play it.
I finished X today, I would play it again on the PS4 but I wouldn't buy it at full price, if you already own the digital version you should get it for free or at least discounted
I skipped PS3 version just to play it on PS4.
I haven't got the ps3 version, so might as well pick the ps4 version.
If you dont have it on PS3 I Dont see why not. Doesnt really compete directly with Vita port. X wasnt my favorite in the series but at the right price its worth playing. Even if by todays standard the whole made-for-world sports idea cresting off the harry potter wave seems a little iffy.
If you have a Vita TV it does :) Since Square was so nice to not make it cross buy I got the Vita version because that one I can play at home and on the go.
True ! On ps4 remote play on the vita its almost as good.... Obviously not always depending on access to WiFi.
i wish there was more PS1 or PS2 remasters this gen like this rather than last gen which i found was boring. games back then were fun.
no its not it should really be a crossbuy with the ps3 version
If you never played it before then yea!
I'll get it for Vita when I've finished ff8, so I can play it on the train :)
I loved being able to play FFX on my PS2. Then I loved being able to play FFX on my PS3. Then I loved being forced to buy FFX again to play it on my PS3. Then I loved being forced to buy FFX again, again, to play it on my PS4. And no, no I do not think Sony's stance on backwards compatibility is the single most anti-consumer move by game companies in the past 20 years.
I still have my PS2 version and the console and would not have any desire to replay it there. The absolute lack of any anti aliasing combined with the texture quality is ratger jarring and was already annoying back when it came out. Replaying it now on the PS2 is even worse given to what graphics we are used to now. It's all good and well to want backyards compatibility, but most consoles never had it to beginn with and in the case of last gen consoles to this gen the hardware is completely different. There wouldn't be any easy way to make it work and work well given that the games are specifically designed to run on certain hardware and optimized for it aka. coded to the metal. Software emulation takes a lot more power compared to what the original hardware had. The 360 emulation for original Xbox games is dodgy, the PS2 and PS3 emulation for PS1 games is dodgy and so was the PS3 emulation of PS2 games. Plus nobody is forced to buy it again.
You're misconstruing my statements. They're If/Then. Being "forced" is predicated on "to play." And just because something is not the case does not mean it should not be the case. Backwards compatibility is important, no matter how you cut it.
Just keep the previous console. All games will work 100% without any flaws. Backwards compatibility is a nice to have thing, but that`s it. That consoles have the feature is an exception and not the norm. You also underestimate what is need to get that to run. Especially for PS3 games that are coded very specifically to offload certain functions to the SPUs and where the power difference is not as big as the previous generations. Not only has the PS4 CPU a completely different architecture from the previous consoles and it completely lacks the SPUs. PS1 and PS2 emulation I could see at some point, but I don`t think the effort and time needed to get a solid PS3 software emulation solution working would be warranted. It`s far more annoying that Square doesn`t have cross buy for the game.
I'm confused what do you mea by being able to play it on your ps3 then being forced to but it again to play it on your ps3?
He is referring to how the original PS3 would play PS2 games, I think..
Will probably pick up eventually because I like to buy FF lol
Bought this one for the Vita. Haven't touched X-2 but I played the hell out of FFX. The game is really worth buying if you haven't played the remastered on the PS3/Vita. Going to play FFX-2 pretty soon. People liked to hate in X-2 because of how "J-Poped" it becamr but gameplay wise the game has a very addictive and deep battle system. By far my favorite Active Time battle system from all Final Fantasy's. Still remember replaying the game back in the PS2 days. Managed to be 6 Iron Dukes along with the best Grids and Mascot dress sphere.
I found X-2 fun. That one isn`t a game to take too serious. From characters and story arc it actually reminded me more of animes, if you know what I mean. Also it beats any of the 13 games with Ms. Lightning. I also like J-Pop so the soundtrack was right up my alley a bit unfortunate that they had the songs translated into English. On a side note Mr. President. La Li Lu Le Lo will not win on Sunday.
Although I love FFX, for or me to buy it again, it better be in Full HD and have the option of using the original Japanese V.O in 7.1 surround sound, or GTFO
The PS3 hd version is playable in full hd as long as your tv is 1080p.
I don't think it's native nor Kingdom Hearts HD 1&2 for that matter? Honestly, what would be the point for having this remaster on the PS4 if there's nothing new? at least give us the option to have the original V.O too! They should also give us the option to play with the original soundtrack.
Yes it is, 100%. Just got the re-master for Vita and damn this game held up very well. Note that I'd already beaten the game on PS2
I'm pretty sure it will be part of a flat sale sooner than later, so I'll buy it then. I was going to buy Tomb Raider PS4 for $9.99 but I forgot it was the last day of the sale (silly me). I think the same will happen.
I have the PS2 Special Edition, brought the PS3 version on release day, and will without a shadow of a doubt puchase the PS4's edition simply because it's my favorite Final Fantasy. I love everything about the game.
if you were smart & waited for the ps4 version since its square & they love doing remasters this gen like i did its a must buy
It's the only good games from SE on PS4 and will likely stay as such. If nothing else, it will be the best from them, if not the only good game.
Imo...only if you have never played those games & you are very curious to start playing FF games including the fact that the PS4 is your very first Sony gaming console or you skipped the hd version on the PS3 & you got rid of it to get a PS4.I would have to think majority of people that have played KH-1&2 have played them on the PS2 & the hd versions on the PS3.I've played them on both consoles, for me there's no need to play this or purchase it again for my PS4.
I hope the PS4 version looks better then the PS3 version if its worth the full price. If it just looks the same I might buy it but not play it on PS4.
That depends on if you want to play it on PS4. If you do then, yes, it is worth it.
I haven't played any final fantasy except for 14 which I'm currently playing. I hope this on did good too.
Is Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster worth buying on PS4? Well, doesn't that totally depend entirely on who you're asking? There'll be those in the Yes camp, and those in the No camp. These stupidly SUBJECTIVE' questions can be totally jarring! I mean, really what's the point? ;/
