In the US the PS4 is once again extending its lead. The PS4 is the top selling new console at 3 of the 4 major retailers right now and has been for two weeks. Once again vgchartz ignores actual sales data for flights of fancy.

@Foehammer, other than Best Buy, the PS4 is outselling the X1 at Gamestop, Walmart, and Amazon. That is 3 of the most prominent US retailers. At Walmart 4 of the top 5 consoles are Sony's. 3 of those top 5 are PS4s including number 1.

I do not believe these figures at all. Are you telling me that MS decided to drop the price down again after 2 weeks when they were outselling the PS4 at a higher price? They are being beaten every day on Amazon and so far Amazon has always predicted the winner of NPD every month.

VGC has also adjusted PS4s numbers 'down' from the 3rd Jan to below 18.5m (the official number from Sony) and now we have an accumulated install base of 18.6m, instead of what it should be which is 18.7m: 18.5m + 176k (rounded up) = 18.7m

The actual numbers world wide are probably closer to 20.3 million largely because of strong sales in Europe.

No they're not. Taking into account that VGC is now just over two weeks old and the current number should be at 18.7m (by VGC own numbers + Sony's official numbers), the actually number is probably around 19.3m - 19.5m. You have to remember that we're now OUT of the holiday season and consoles always drop dramatically in sales. We should see a decent spike in February and March though.

edit: This would be so much simpler if XBox fans wouldn't keep thinking the number is lower and the PS4 fans wouldn't keep thinking the number is higher LOL. I bet if we could poll 100 XB1 fans and 100 PS4 fans and then average those sales, we'd probably arrive at something approaching reality.

For Gen 7 Lifetime sales, Xbox 360 is still boss in N. America ...Wii not too far behind.

Not much difference between X1 & PS4, 1/2 Mil or so units?? Not tryna be biased here but, I expected PS4 numbers to be a bit higher, like 18.8 Mil higher? Wii U isn't so far behind either, even though it's had 2+ years.

I'm not even sure these numbers are legit...VGChartz has a bad rep. This'll prob turn into a fanboy circus, but yup, it's whatever man ;/

LOL! Well a 1,000 separating Xbox and Ps4 in America is ok I guess for Xbox. This is a slaughter Ps4 is enjoying. This thing is gonna be over by the end of this year when Ps4's lead is so insurmountable that it doesnt even matter to talk of the console race anymore except for the games. Worldwide Ps4 is mounting a huge swell of a lead and in NA Xbox cant hold any sort of lead that is relevant for too long. I just enjoy watching the battle from a spectator standpoint. I do own both but to watch the two is kinda fun. They each do things almost like a boxing match to counter each other. More so than any other electronics competitors game consoles do this and its kinda entertaining in and of itself just to watch and make fun of. Mostly also watching the fanbases do some sorta proxy war involving fanboys. Funny stuff to watch.

The first 12 months do not count as it's obvious gamers were waiting to see all three before purchasing any next gen console. This is apparent because Wii U sales are up over 100% year over year every month at $300. Think. lol
