I adored this game when it first came out. Can't wait to play the reboot!

joab7773376d ago

I just remember loving it. Then I remember trying to find it. Then, against all odds, I saw it of all places as a remaster at Sony's E3. I couldn't believe it. Since then, been waiting for this day.

PCGamingNoobs3376d ago

when i was a kid i cycled through grim fandango, monkey island and broken sword. grim is my fave game of all time.

I joke every E3 about a new Grim game and then this happened. i will be happy for the rest of this gen with this alone.

Rest of the Gen?? Is it really THAT great? I understand it's a masterpiece or whatever.. But I see that it's only a point-click noir game, so there is no action.. what makes this game so fun and enough to excite you and others and satisfy for an entire generation of video games? I want to get it, but I can't help but feeling I'd be bored out of my mind, I can read a book or play a visual novel game, Japan's got a ton of them.. I still have to finish 999 and Zero Escape.

good question!

maybe for me its the nostalgia, im not saying this will be everyone's cup of tea. i know if you got an annual COD buyer and put this in front of them they probably would say its the worst game ever.

But for me i buy games these days for story it can have as much action as it likes or non at all i don't care. like i said, i grew up on this game i have lost count how many times i have played it, i will buy it when it comes on the store and i will remember everything. But i will stil love every second of it with a passion.

everything in this game was amazing (arguably the controls) the characters the design the puzzles.

If you like monkey island if you have ever played that pick it up, if your a fan of tim schafer pick it up. or even you mentioning the fact there's no action look at the likes of the walking dead series, essentially no action but still got praised by most people.

Eidolon3376d ago (Edited 3376d ago )

I understand the appeal, it looks like a good story and voice acting.. very well scripted, but is it at all challenging, is the fun purely in unlocking more story through NPC interaction? What am I missing out on if this was say a Telltale-style game.

ShiranaiJittai3375d ago

I can not recommend Zero escape enough. If you like cerebral mysteries it has by far some of the best character development and twists I have ever seen in ANY artform not just videogames.

Eidolon3375d ago

Even better than the 999?

Far, far from it. Its initial release came at the right time, when 'point and click' games were king, a slower and more measured pace favouring the gung-ho chav fodder of today's popular titles. I played this on initial release, thoroughly enjoyed it...not that I think it will make a dent in today's market.

Eidolon3376d ago (Edited 3376d ago )

Good story, voice acting, music, art style, characters. One of best of it's genre.. but not everyone's cup of tea.
