Is This The Most Depressing Image In Gaming History?

Ross Everman writes for Fully 'Avin It: The image is taken from Arma 3. At first glance you get the idea – a vehicle is fully rendered and visible in your game, but you cannot enter it unless you give the troll under the bridge (Arma Devs) some real life cash. But the image is not necessarily the buzz-kill it appears to be.

This is just sad on so many levels!!

Anthotis3807d ago

Indeed. Being able to pilot a helicopter should be a standard feature in any military game.

I'm sick of developers doing this.

I can tell you lack the ability to read. This is DLC done correctly. Do and actually read the article and see how dumb you are for looking at the title.

Arma 3 has been out since 2013, in 2014 it released a DLC that gave everyone a bunch of free content and 2 new helicopters to fly for everyone who purchased the DLC.

Everyone can enter the Choppers, but only LC owners can actually fly them. So unless you're a pilot, it doesn't effect you at all. It only give the player qa shit ton more free content. So, I have no idea why this website has so many people who are this stupid.

Software_Lover3807d ago

Stupid......... wow.

Good luck in life. It's a video game. You're taking it too serious.

I have Arma 3, but haven't played it in over a year. I also have The Flashpoint games. They do their DLC right, yes, but still not being able to fly the chopper SUCKS!!! I understand they do their best to go for realism as every soldier on the battlefield can't just hop in and automatically become a licensed pilot. It would be a good gesture none the less.

So, you're just complaining that the DLC isn't free. We're done here. Another case of an entitled gamer. It has nothing to do with realism, they want people to buy their DLC but don't want to let it break the game or segment the playerbase.

You can still ride as a passenger or gunner, you simply cant fly.

dlc? more like pay to play...

the chopper and all the programming is already in there.. there is nothing more to download.. you just need to pay a fee to pilot the chopper... kinda bs.

JackBNimble3806d ago

Well I don't play arma III , but the question should be ... are there any player/pilot accessible helicopters in the $60 base game ?

Or is the only way to pilot a helicopter in arma 3 to buy the $18 dlc for 2 helicopters ?

Just finished playing 'DLC Quest'...

This is exactly the kind of crap that is both sad and funny at the same time.

Jdoki3807d ago

In terms of how the Arma 3 devs have implemented DLC I don't have a big issue with this - you can be a passenger, but not the pilot.

But in terms of breaking immersion in games - this is not good.

blib3807d ago

Not depressing at all. Stop supporting a$$hole Devs like that. They'll go away eventually.

Neixus3807d ago

Taken straight from reddit lol.

Anyways, while i hate DLC, this DLC is one of the few done RIGHT. You can't be the pilot, but you can play on servers that have this DLC and be a passenger.

It all depends on how everything is handled. Expansions have been around for many, many years. They used to be a separate box with a disk inside and usually around 'half' of a campaign in length and they charged half of the full price of the original game. Nobody really complained about this, if you loved the game buying the expansion was a no brainer.

DLC is just expansions, except these days companies try to get away with charging way more than the content is worth. Take a skin for a gun as an example, you pay the artist a days work to texture a machine gun but that content essentially goes on sale forever and can pay for itself in seconds of going on sale.

I love the way Criterion handled DLC for Burnout Paradise, they gave away free stuff for a while to keep people interested in the game (and probably to put them off trading it in) and then after building that trust they released some really GOOD paid for DLC, of course by then people were loving Criterion and Burnout because of how they had been treated before hand, it was very clever.
