Resident Evil HD Remaster vs Gamecube REmake Graphics Comparison Video

AOTF writes:"In my review of Capcom’s Resident Evil HD Remaster I noted that while players of the original Gamecube remake might not immediately notice the difference in graphics quality, it is certainly there. This lack of notice is largely due to nostalgia goggles, which make us remember the game better than it actually was. Make no mistake, for its time, and even today, the Gamecube REmake of Resident Evil was a great looking game. However, the low resolution and standard-definition graphics combine to make for a dark, muddy experience for modern gamers."

It looks really good remastered. Honestly I'm still amazed at how well the GameCube version holds up, they really pushed the system on that release.

that GC remake was one hell of a shock to me. i still remember the first screens on a magazine (Consoles+). I finished the game in every mode and this remaster proves that it doesn't add much to the graphics because GC version is still pretty today.
tbh i don't see the work on the textures, it's mostly resolution differences i could spot. putting PC version at the same GC resolution would have shown if there were any graphical improvements.

I recommand EVERYONE to pick this gem out, one of the most memorable games

The gamecube was made to run games with static backgrounds .the gamecube was way better than alot of people give it credit for .if I remember correctly the gamecube could run 7 layers to make a static background in the same amount of time it took the ps 2 and Xbox to run 4 .oh yeah and the load times were much better in the gamecube too .

The remaster version looks great! i will say however, the Gamecube Version Feels more Haunting some how :) not sure what it is, Regardless, I will be picking up the HD Remaster version soon :)

The pc version looks so neat and clean and it's only $20 which is a sweet deal. The gamecube was a great system, the thing was built like a tank. My buddy threw his gamecube over the roof from the backyard, it landed on the driveway, and surprisingly it still worked.

Final Fantasy 7, Final Fantasy 8, Final Fantasy 9, Half-Life, Max Payne, Morrowind and Doom are just a few of the games that got new high-quality textures that were produced via AI Neural Networks and today, modder ‘Shiryu’ released a new AI-enhanced Texture Pack for Resident Evil HD Remaster."

I'm not really convinced by this AI Neural Networks thing using this as an example. I know you can't ask for much when it comes to pre-rendered stuff, but you can barely see a difference with most of these. At its worst, there's an imperceptible difference. At its best, you can see it cleared up some jaggies and looks a liiiittle less blurry.

I will download it of course, but based on the screenshots, this doesn't improve things a whole lot.

It does make a difference. Mods in general are just awesome. They've helped make so many of my games look better. The HD reworked texture mods and other mods for The Witcher 3, for example, made it look way better.

This may be small improvements now but it could be huge for gaming's future. AI with a ryzen based chip programmed to use the neural network to determine to the metal coding might allow programmers to focus on high level coding. That means games get done really fast and the budget goes into things like story and production. Once you have an ai that understands its given hardware it can decide how to run the code to maximize frames and resolution. AI will revolutionize gaming.
