H1Z1 Early Access Impressions – Open-World Zombie Survival | The Koalition

The Koalition writes: "The struggle is real. Whether it be scavenging for enough berries to not starve to death, fending off the onslaught of hungry flesh-eaters, or nervously interacting with other players that could kill you at any chance, H1Z1 is full of fantastic moments and new addition to the zombie survival game landscape. H1Z1 sets itself apart from other similar games (such as DayZ, WarZ, Rust, Infestation: Survivor Stories, and more) by combining aspects from all of the existing entries into one package all with the backing of a AAA developer and publisher to wrap it all up. You can not only gather materials, craft items, and build things, but you also have to fend for yourself and survive in an incredibly harsh and violent world."

I'm kind of getting sick of zombie games but I'll check this out.

jaggernaut253384d ago

Same, which is why I enjoyed this one so much. It's not JUST zombies. You have to eat so you don't starve, drink so you don't dehydrate, hunt for food, craft your gear and supplies, and that's all without considering other players. You lose your stuff when you die and you never know who you can trust.

All of those aspects combined into one game mean this thing is pretty special and has a lot of potential.

This sounds A LOT like Day Z...

jaggernaut253384d ago

Oh, it's very similar. But DayZ doesn't have this type of crafting or survival system. And that game is even buggier even though it's been out forever. And it was based on a mod by a small studio - this is backed by one of the biggest AAA MMO developers/publishers. The biggest thing is the crafting/survival though, DayZ doesn't really have any of that, not in this level of detail. You can even build bases in this game. Hell, you can fill up a water bottle in the rain, purify it over a campfire, then drink it. That level of detail is pretty fucking cool to me.

"It's not JUST zombies"

This has pretty much become the standard for zombie games (and even movies/shows). All zombie-related stuff is about general survival and "humans are more dangerous than zombies" now

@jaggernaut25,

Your comment is dead on.

Just be aware when someone's last 6 comments were in various threads attempting to tell everyone why H1Z1 doesn't work, isn't as good as another title, doesn't have this or that (even though it does), lacks in one manner or another, well...at that point it is pretty obvious such a person has an agenda and no amount of reasoning will assist in a conversation with them.

Putting on nostaligia glasses and forgetting all the issues a previous title suffered and still suffers doesn't help either.

SuperBlur3384d ago

No it isnt backed by SOE. The fools who pays to get into the alpha of this f2p game, are taking care of that ! Cold hearted truth

only thing that i dont like is u can get loads of stuff but then get killed and its gone.
is there nowhere u can store stuff so its always safe?

jaggernaut253383d ago

Once you get deeper into the game you can start building bases and crafting storage chests. You can also make shovels and dig holes to bury some basic things. And most of the severs let you keep all of the crafting recipes that you learned - only certain marked servers erase your recipe knowledge when you die.

m1armor3384d ago

Dayz has that implented too, where you fill up the water bottle from the rain. Etc. ...

MasterCornholio3384d ago

From what people tell me H1Z1 is a lot more complex than DayZ.

Timesplitter143384d ago (Edited 3384d ago )

After having played both I can say H1Z1 has more crafting than DayZ, but DayZ has better gameplay and looks better. You just don't get that same level of intensity in H1Z1. You dont fear for your life enough, and the ballistics in DayZ are also much more interesting

I definitely intend to try this game out but only once it's actually out on the PS4. Don't have any desire to play this on PC especially when I know most of my time will be spent on the PS4 anyway.

it doesn‘t actually speak for human intelligence when such products can be a thing. if everybody used their brain such products would have never made their way to the mainstream. people get what they begged for. and i can‘t for the life of it get such mindsets.
