I can't say I find this surprising. His responses sound like he's getting hopes up, but for a guy who's NOT involved, he's oddly not bitter (which he was before).

I'm gonna say he is involved.

Xaphy3802d ago

What makes me believe he's involved is the fact that kojima always surprises us. Remember metal gear solid 2? I still think David is way too important to be left behind.

Hard to say when there's no clear truth in the words of either Kojima and Hayter. But Kojipro is sure good at presenting you the desired picture and MGS series story was always full of lies, deception and twists.

If there's no Solid, Liquid and Solidus, then Kojima is screwing around too much.

But hey, lets speculate.

*Spoilers ahoy*

In MGS1 we had family ties revelation, in MGS2 we had the family ties revelation, in MGS3 we had the family ties revelation and in MGS4 we had the family ties revelation.

Half Life 3 confirmed.

no david hayter in the game is all a farce. he's def gonna play a small part as solid snake in the game.

it was the same in MGS4 when someone else voiced big boss at the end. they didn't want david to essentially be talking to himself.

now if he isn't in the game then i will forever hate keifer sutherland ;)

hay3802d ago

Well, there's also a chance he's not in the game and prohibited to say anything 'cause some people simply wouldn't buy the game.

BISHOP-BRASIL3802d ago

I still stand by the theory of Venon Snake (Sutherland) not being Big Boss, but instead some hypnotized dopplegänger or other crazy, convoluted plot device that basically had been wrong throughout all the story, believing to be Big Boss (or maybe convinced by that Kaz Miller guy) and to be doing what is right, only to realize we had been played, Venon is not a real Snake, it was all a setup by Miller and some obscure Pentagon infesting secret organization to either frame big boss or achieve some norrow minded draconianly imposed upper objective, like peace through war, the real Big Boss (Hayter) was alive all along and was responsible for all resistence you found throughout your adventure, reveals you all of this, but you realize Snake turned into something just as bad as Miller, so just in time for the final fight you can decide to side with neither the organization behind your transformation nor Big Boss, kick his butt, destroy some AI and kill yourself. The End.

Why? Because this is Kojima we're talking about and this is the most convoluted trolling I can think of.

if he does end up in the game, chances are he was always there and kojima was just being kojima about it

assdan3802d ago

Knowing Kojima, this was all a ploy, and Hayter's bitterness was fake.

DeadlyFire3801d ago

This sounds like most likely scenario.

TheXgamerLive3802d ago

Do you guys really even care anymore. I mean yes it be great if he is but shouldn't the game be finished and his part finished already. We've seen footage CGI in game you name it for 2 years now. I'm tired of seeing or hearing news without IN GAME footage. Witches 3, delivers with in game but mgsv? Nothing and Ground Zeros was a waste of time and money.

Batzi3802d ago

They might have cast him in the end. So he probably really didn't know till recently.

I think he may be involved in MGSV somehow which would be great. That's not a deciding factor on my purchase of this game anyway. Must play game

F0XHOUND3802d ago

I've always thought he'd be in MGS V. Pretty obvious really. Hayter is Solid Snake, Big Boss is Sutherland. The two will feature in the same scene in the game 100%!

Akuma2K3802d ago

This^

I believe this is what we'll see in MGS5. both characters in the game at the same time......that will truly blow everyone away, can't get any more epic than that.

robothouserock3802d ago

When it was first announced that Hayter wasn't going to be in the Phantom Pain, I got super excited because it confirmed (in my mind) that Solid would make an appearance and it was supposed to be a surprise. I've wanted to see a game with Solid Snake again and it would be amazing to play it from Big Boss' perspective. What if TPP leads into a HD remake of the original Metal Gear, but you play Big Boss.

TheFirstClassic3802d ago

But the japanese voice actor for Big boss is the same as snake. So in the japanese version are they going to have a different voice actor for solid if he shows up? That wouldn't make sense.

F0XHOUND3801d ago

Its a Japanese game created for a western audience primarily. What happens with Japanese voice actors has no relevance to their English counterparts. David hayters voice as snake is not determined by who is still the Japanese guy, it makes sense Kojima has decided to change big boss as he reaches a new stage of persona.... nobody has stated any info on solid snakes voice, but hayter has not been ruled out as still being the guy. I honestly think he's still solid snake, voices are not canonical so makes no difference if he used to be big boss. Big boss was instrumental to snakes training so expect to see that.

NBT913802d ago

I'm actually pretty interested to see how Hayter sound voicing a young Solid Snake.
Because I can't remember how old Snake is at the time of MGSV (in his teen years I think). So he should sound different, it'll be interesting to hear how he sounds at that young of an age. Especially since last time we heard him he was an old man :D

Edvin19843802d ago

I really did not care so much that he was not part of the game initially until I played MGS:GZ and just didnt care for Keith at all as Snake. I hope they have a option with David Hayter in it as well.

BiggerBoss3802d ago

To be fair, Kiefer* didnt really do anything in Ground Zeroes. He said like maybe two lines. From what Ive seen of TPP, I personally like him as Big Boss, but to each his own:)

Gatsu3802d ago

Exactly my thoughts or feelings, Boss. :)

CoPilot: Gaming Chat is an amazing revelation - A true gamer friend at your side

CG writes: In this video, we take Microsoft's Copilot for a spin and talk about gaming and AI influences, and the implications of that. We talked about a possible Metal Gear Solid V remaster, Deus Ex remaster, Hitman Blood-Money mission, and more. Imagine trying to talk gaming with non-gaming friends in real-life and after 5 seconds, they switch off and possibly yawn. Well, CoPilot isn't like that, instead it's like talking to a like-minded gaming fan who is totally on your level. The public version of CoPilot released in Feb 2023 and already it's become almost indistinguishable from a real person.
